View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to crop an image using photoshop the crop tool will only allow a square image, it will not let me have one side longer than the other. I've tried to just use the tool once the box is highlighted to adjust the position of one or more sides but it will only allow me to do this at the corners, once again resulting in a square even though it is a rectangle I want.

I'm trying to crop a rectangle that is slightly off square, so the cropping rectangle is either clipping part of the image or not enough of the empty space. Is there a way to clip a non-rectangular area?
The images are actually parts of a map as a specific projection, and need to be clipped non-rectangular so they match up.
how do i use the crop tool to make a square that i can move around the image to crop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a web page, website, whatever you want to call it, this is what I'm trying to figure out. I want to be able to make a shape of anything, like a square, and inside that square add a picture of something. I want to be able to move that picture anywhere inside that square, without it coming outside, showing only a portion of the picture.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my website, especially when pictures are side by side, I try to make all the same, i.e. square. To me it looks better. I have a picture that is rectangle and obviously cannot resize to a square - distorts the picture. I know there is a way to copy the rectangle picture into a square picture frame which allows the picture to be square while not distorting the rectangle size.
But I don't know how to do this. I have watched a video on this but still not clear how to do it.
crop an image to a shape? I want to crop an image to a rounded rectangle, not square edges.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a shape that I want to add a blend layer to by creating a square, adding a gradient then making it an overlay on top of said shape. The issue I am having is I cant find a way of masking out the unwanted areas of the blend layer. I have tried to follow the steps the official help and other internet help sections but it's not working. It's so easy in photoshop. How come it's so difficult in Illustrator? Is there something I am missing? Additionally, a blend layer (in most modes) wouldn't show any colour if overlaying upon white in photoshop. How come this isn't so in Illustrator?

I want to create a shape that has round corners on the bottom and square cormers at the top.
I have created two shapes, one with round corners and one with square one.
I was hoping to put them together then use the pathfinder to unite them but this then make the round corner square.
Is it possible to unite shapes with different corners.
I have illustrator CS3 - I am making badges and want to change a picture I already have from a square into a circle. I am taking the notebook with me on site and I am not sure if anything but illustrator can run on it. i.e I know I can do it in photoshop but am worried about the poor little bugger screaming blue murder!
So is this possible in Illustrator? I am open to suggestions for other apps that arent so memory hungry like word; gimp maybe?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently had to buy a new computer and re-install CorelDraw X5. I've been using the software for about 3 years now to run a laser engraver, so I'm not new to dealing with vectors. For some reason though when I draw something like a square, click "convert to curves", then right click the segment I was to delete, the delete option is grayed out and the only thing I can do is add a node. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a setting somewhere they didn't get checked off when I installed the software.

viewed by most viewer programs looks the same.
But when I view it using Zoom Browser (the program
that came with my Canon DC), I find that the picture
contains much more. I guess that the picture might
have been cropped using a DC's digital zoom function.
Can I view the orginal image before the cropping using
Photoshop? (Using Zoom Browser, I can only view the
original image in thumbnail mode which is not large
enough).
I am interested in the mechanism of the cropping
process. Could you kindly tell me a little about that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn PS5, if I start with a picture 5184 x 3456, I could crop a picture to be 2100 by 1500 by setting these parameters in the crop tool. No matter whether I decided to make a big crop or a small crop, my final image was always 2100 x 1500.
In PS6, however, I don't think the crop tool parameters work the same way. If I set the crop parameters to 2100 by 1500, my final crop is NOT 2100 by 1500, but rather my final crop is whatever original pixels I selected.
What is the EASIEST way to accomplish a final crop of 2100 x 1500 on PS6?
I was wondering if there's a way to apply local changes to a picture by including the part I need to be changed in a square (like when you crop it). Without using the graduated filter.
