Photoshop :: Cropping Other Than Default Square? Circle Crop Or Pentagon?
Nov 6, 2005I'm just wondering whether there is a way to crop an image in PS in a different shape other than the default square. Like circle crop or pentagon.

View 5 RepliesI'd like to take my rectangular photo image and crop it to a pentagon shape prior to printing. This must be a regular pentagon, each side equal length (variable) and each internal angle 108 degrees (strictly).
Is there a way to do this in GIMP simply?
I have the following psd file which my designer provided for me:
It's made up of all layers and smart objects and all stuff I have no clue about it. I need to make it so only the bubble is isolated, and everything else is eliminated (i.e. the character and the three bubbles going from his head are gone). Cropping almost works, but as you can see at the bottom the bubble if I try to do a rectangular crop it will catch some of the characters head and the three bubbles.
I have this image of a piece of bread. As you can see there is white area around the bread. I want to get rid of this (i.e. crop it out) so that when I import it into another program (mainly After Effects) all that can be seen is the bread and no white space on the outside. Is there a way to do this?

I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.
How I can cut a circle from a square image so that the circle is cut from the exact middle of the square? I use the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) and drag outwards from the approximate middle of the square (Holding Shift and ALT) but after doing so the transform buttons are greyed out.
So then, how can I position the "circle selection" to the exact center of the square? A few pixels out in any direction will not suffice. I'm using CS6.
I have a square that I want to make into a circle, without distorting it. I want to create a circle using it as a stroke... I"m using CS2, can anyone help
I used the transform and the warp tool and got it into a circle, but there were points where it was pinched and it looked stupid.
I thought maybe there was a way to make a circle and use that "pattern" as a stroke for it, but so far I can't figure it out.
i tried making it a brush and needless to say...
We use that square to put around all of our letterhead and official station documents. I've created a CD-Rom media kit of our stuff and want to put it around the edge of the cd label, but unfortunately for me, cd's are round which is not condusive to the template I have....
I would like to cut out a perfect circle on a digital picture and rotate text around the circle. I have not been able to find a clean way of doing this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to crop an image using photoshop the crop tool will only allow a square image, it will not let me have one side longer than the other. I've tried to just use the tool once the box is highlighted to adjust the position of one or more sides but it will only allow me to do this at the corners, once again resulting in a square even though it is a rectangle I want.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS6, the moment you select the Crop Tool, a "cropping bounding box" appears instantly over the image. This didn't happen in CS5. In CS5 I would be able to click and start dragging the Crop Tool 'outside' the image and then drag into it so that my "cropping bounding box" (don't know what to call it) would snap to the edges of the image.
In CS6, since this box is automatically there already over the entire image, clicking outside the image invokes some unwanted rotation action.
I know I have done this before but can't fiqure out how I did it ..

Im trying to merge two shapes....a square and a circle. (see attached image)
Ive tried using Boolean options and the Attach command but although it links them it doesnt remove the interior geometry. Im sure this is the easiest question ever posted on this forum but I just cant figure it out.

I have a square selection that I'd like to map into a circle of equal size. I see apply lens and map object...sphere, but neither of these seem to do a proper job.
The algorithm I'm after would basically take the pixels of the square and map them onto their new locations within the circle so that each pixel moves inward toward the center until it reaches its appropriate location along the the line from the origin to its radius.
I'm about to the point to just code it in C++.
