For a web page, website, whatever you want to call it, this is what I'm trying to figure out. I want to be able to make a shape of anything, like a square, and inside that square add a picture of something. I want to be able to move that picture anywhere inside that square, without it coming outside, showing only a portion of the picture.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my website, especially when pictures are side by side, I try to make all the same, i.e. square. To me it looks better. I have a picture that is rectangle and obviously cannot resize to a square - distorts the picture. I know there is a way to copy the rectangle picture into a square picture frame which allows the picture to be square while not distorting the rectangle size.
But I don't know how to do this. I have watched a video on this but still not clear how to do it.
I have illustrator CS3 - I am making badges and want to change a picture I already have from a square into a circle. I am taking the notebook with me on site and I am not sure if anything but illustrator can run on it. i.e I know I can do it in photoshop but am worried about the poor little bugger screaming blue murder!
So is this possible in Illustrator? I am open to suggestions for other apps that arent so memory hungry like word; gimp maybe?
I have a square that I want to make into a circle, without distorting it. I want to create a circle using it as a stroke... I"m using CS2, can anyone help
I used the transform and the warp tool and got it into a circle, but there were points where it was pinched and it looked stupid.
I thought maybe there was a way to make a circle and use that "pattern" as a stroke for it, but so far I can't figure it out.
i tried making it a brush and needless to say...
We use that square to put around all of our letterhead and official station documents. I've created a CD-Rom media kit of our stuff and want to put it around the edge of the cd label, but unfortunately for me, cd's are round which is not condusive to the template I have....
I recently got the newest photoshop, and I'm confused about paintbrush.in the other version it was always square, but now when I go above a size 3 brush it starts to look a bit like a squary flower. how do I make the brush just a plain square??

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a .gif image (actually an animated gif) that is currently square, but I've been desperately trying to destructively trim it to a perfect circle to use in a flash animation.
I don't want to use a mask or have the white corners showing where I've trimmed in in GraphicConverter as a circle, unless there a way to make the excess outside of the circle trim transparent, since the backgound image is complex (I cant simply collor the background outside a normal circular trip) and only has a circular "frame" to place this image.
I simply want to take an image (which has a complex logo in it and trim the resulting image to a perfect circle.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do, is take the path tool, make a pattern around a picture (which is rectangle) placing it on a picture of a board like this...and then pull the picture horizontally, and vertically, to make it circular, to fit the perimeter of the board. If I understand it correctly, when you use the path tool...it allows you to make an image round (from rectangular) is that true?

I am creating a stylized Polaroid photo and want the end result to look like it is lifting off the paper by creating a shadow under it. I cannot seem to find a way to do this with the transparency tool. Look at my photo, I want the shadow to fade outwards from the edge of the photo on all 3 sides.
I want to crop an image and make the edges round instead of square. Do I do this with a mask? Can't figure out how to use a mask. I went to Mask Outline->Smooth and it cut the image out and left the round edges.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to take the square cd cover image and make a cassette tape cover, or j-card, with that image.
Here's a picture of a j-card template.
Right now all I want is the front cover, spine and tail. I wasn't sure if the templates I found were compatible so i tried to make my own template. What I did was make three separate ones. One for the front cover, one for the spine and one for the tail. I was able to take the square image and use the scale tool to make the image fit inside the front cover. The first problem I had was not knowing if the image quality was good enough to print. It seemed easier to use inches when I made the template and not pixels. So I made the front cover template 4 in by 2.5625 in. I exported the image as a jpg but the final image looked too small. So now I'm not sure how many pixels I need for a printable picture.
Now with the spine and tail most likely I'll just chose a background color and type over it...Artist, Album Name, Song Titles ext. My plan was to use the jpg images I exported and paste them together, then save that final image as a jpg. and print.
My question concenrs this photo: [URL] ... (this is my own photo by the way). Just so you know what I mean with 'sky' later on: you're looking at balconies.
I want to extend it on the left so I can make it a desktop wallpaper. However, the original photo does not extend far enough to allow me to just crop differently. How can I, using GIMP, fill up the new space so that it looks like the sky that's already there?
I have GIMP for Mac version 2.8.3.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know this is very basic but I can't find a simple way to do it. How do you draw just a simple thin square or rectangle black outline on a white background?
I have tried:
1) Using the square outline under "custom shape tools" but it makes too thick of an outline.
2) Just drawing the 4 sides with the line tool at 2-3 pixels but that is too hard, trying to get each side the right length and properly oriented to make the square.
3) Using the rectangle tool (and the rectangle marquee tool)
to make one black rectangle, then using it to make a white rectangle inside the black one in order to make the black outline. But that is also too hard - trying to get the inner white rectangle the right size so that all the black borders it creates are the same size.
Can someone please explain how to make a simple thin outline? Seems there ought to be a simple way to draw a square/rectangle, but I can't find it.
