Illustrator :: Square Or Polygon - Transform One Of Sides From Straight To Smooth Curve
Jan 19, 2013Say I have a square or a polygon. I want to transform one of the sides from straight to a smooth curve. Is there a way to do this?
I have the pen tool and I'm tracing an object. I want to create one curved side then continue on with straight edges. However the tool insists on creating 2 or 3 curves at a time.
Is there a way to create a single isolated or part of a shape curve thats adjustable with both endpoints. It seems that curves I create often are missing adjustment levers at one of their endpoints making it harder to get the shape I want.

Jan 11, 2009Can anyone advise how I can draw (from scratch) a 6 sided shape.
I cant post an image on here (as I'm a newbie to this forum its going to be hard to explain without an image)

and then rather than a point at the bottom imagine a flat extra line (so it then has 6 sides rather than 5)
I can make a 6 sided shape no problem, but it always has equal length sides when I first produce it,
So I goto
Transform>skew
(as I would image I could change its shape with) it just never looks right.
I take it I either want to drag the corners in and out or to perhaps input the details of size/length/angles etc (but I imagine this will take too long).
It is even possible to make this image in 1 go?

I used the transform and the warp tool and got it into a circle, but there were points where it was pinched and it looked stupid.
I thought maybe there was a way to make a circle and use that "pattern" as a stroke for it, but so far I can't figure it out.
i tried making it a brush and needless to say...
We use that square to put around all of our letterhead and official station documents. I've created a CD-Rom media kit of our stuff and want to put it around the edge of the cd label, but unfortunately for me, cd's are round which is not condusive to the template I have....

Nov 11, 2005I have a .gif image (actually an animated gif) that is currently square, but I've been desperately trying to destructively trim it to a perfect circle to use in a flash animation.
I don't want to use a mask or have the white corners showing where I've trimmed in in GraphicConverter as a circle, unless there a way to make the excess outside of the circle trim transparent, since the backgound image is complex (I cant simply collor the background outside a normal circular trip) and only has a circular "frame" to place this image.
I simply want to take an image (which has a complex logo in it and trim the resulting image to a perfect circle.
