View 6 RepliesI am trying to make my roof by footprint but everytime I try the footprint won't show up. Are there specific steps to connect the two? I am working off directions for Revit 2011 but with 2013 its not working the same.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used the roof by footprint tool. I was constructing a flat roof structure. I clicked the walls to construct the roof. All the pink lines were joined but when i clicked on the green tick to complete the roof it came up with an error saying the lines were too short. the roof had an overhang set of 300mm.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave created a roof with a gable on each end. Edit roof footprint to change the two gable end roof slopes to a hip roof. When I finish the edit, I get a "Can't keep wall & target joined" error message...which affect all sides of the roof. I have done this many times before without ever getting this error message.
The roof being edited is on the two-story portion. There is a gable roof on a lower level on one side.
Is there a better way of achieving this (screen snip attached). To get the roof segments off lower plate heights I have added in temporary walls corresponding the higher plate height, picked by footprint then extended the overhang on these segments to hit the lower plate height. Then erase the temporary walls. But this detaches the edit footprint-edit overhang function.
Is there a better way? If only a line element would host a roof to enable slope and overhang association.
Having a time getting ribs to align 2m below top of ridge beam, and connect to curved wall below. I created one, then arrayed, but the radius changes at each 2.5 degree interval. I don't think I should have to calculate the % radius change to get the beams to do this. Some constraint button maybe?
Not sure if editing a wall profile is the best way to model this, but it's working.
I am currently doing an MEP project and I am tidying up the model at present. I am having problems attaching the walls to the roofs. There could be a simple solution but I haven't found it yet !
I have tried attaching top base etc. but its not working. I only seem to be able to select one side of the roof when selecting where to attach the walls. I have attached 3d pics showing the walls that are extruding & also one of the walls that I am trying to attach.
I'm working on a blueprint and trying to get my roof to do something besides a straight slope, but it isn't going well. I need the roof to curve from the corners inward to the point, like the top of a Japanese pagoda.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a rectangular double curved roof (hyperbolic paraboloid). Did that just by adjusting shape handles up and down in diagonally opposite corners.
I want to draw a grid on it mostly as a graphical thing, so its shape is evident. Have tried model lines which won't attach even when grouped.
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012.
I built some walls and a roof slab using the wall, door, and roof slab tools in the build section of the ribbon. I drew a section plane and activated live section. The walls and roof did not cut away and they do not show up when i use the sectionplanetoblock command.
Is there a setting I need to change to make the walls and roof susceptible to being cut using the sectionplane command?
whether it's possible to modify the profile of curved walls. Normally when you select a wall, it should be possible to edit the wall and its profile, though when a wall is curved, the button "edit profile" is gray. Is there any other way to obtain a similar effect, maybe using masses or so?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know whether it is possible (and how) to trim a wall that was generated from mass face to a roof (also generated from face mass) or/and make a horizontal hole in it. The wall itself is not straight or curved, it shifts outwards from the building from base to top (still in an elevation it looks like rectangle).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've made a few roof hosted families, and they've all been fine in the past. For some reason, with this one, when you load it into a project it appears to be one 'ref level' too high for the roof host, hence revit errors, displaying that it can't cut the roof void.
I assume this is something really simple I should (or not!) have done with the family when I started it, can it be saved?
How do get a fascia to suit the make up of the roof, the fascia is to small?Or do i change the roof make up? The make up of my external walls are all the same, but in 3d mode the block work is showing up on some of the walls how do i change this to show a plaster finish?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter having a problem projecting my walls to my roof slab (flat roof), which worked fine in previous sessions; and then trying the standard solutions of making sure my walls clean up properly, etc., I determined the problem was actually in that the walls do not like to project to a roof with components. In my last work session, I added a component to my roof. I switched back to a "standard" roof slab, projected the walls, and then switched back again to my roof with components.
