I would like to know whether it is possible (and how) to trim a wall that was generated from mass face to a roof (also generated from face mass) or/and make a horizontal hole in it. The wall itself is not straight or curved, it shifts outwards from the building from base to top (still in an elevation it looks like rectangle).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently doing an MEP project and I am tidying up the model at present. I am having problems attaching the walls to the roofs. There could be a simple solution but I haven't found it yet !
I have tried attaching top base etc. but its not working. I only seem to be able to select one side of the roof when selecting where to attach the walls. I have attached 3d pics showing the walls that are extruding & also one of the walls that I am trying to attach.
I have this weird problem in Revit 2013. My walls that used to be joined with or intersected with other walls (now moved/ deleted) still bear holes/cuts in them matching the walls that joinded/intersected with them. I've tried to shorten the length beyond the holes and then extending the wall again, but as soon as the wall extends beyond the same point, the hole appears in it. Even when you delete the wall and draw a new one, the hole reappears exactly in the same area of the new wall, like there's an invisible wall intersecting it. There is no hidden wall there...I checked. The only way to remove the hole is to move the wall away from the area, which I can't anyway. What's the cause of this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a Revit warning 'Highlighted walls are attached to, but miss, the highlighted targets.' when I try and attach part of a long wall, spanning between gables, to the underside of roof eave. I must emphasise that this happens on a long wall where I have edited the profile to create three step levels each with a roof on them. Parts of this wall do attach to their respective length of roof but others don't. I wonder if this is something to do with the wall's height parameter, which is the same for the whole length of the wall but will have differing distances to the edited profile?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am drawing up my house in Revit to get use to the software. I created my house, and now my garage. I selected to create a roof by footprint but when I tried to join the roof to the adjacent wall, the overhang does not follow. I then selected the overhang to join to the adjacent wall but an error pops up: "Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face."
I attached a PDF of the roof.Also, you will notice a line that separates the two walls I joined together. I may separate them but how do I avoid this if I want to make one solid wall?
As for the wall selection, I have vinyl siding and would like to use properties that relate when selecting my exterior walls. I do not see anything regarding that besides wood siding. I thought that should be in my properties when I downloaded and purchased the software.

When I edit the wall structure, and modify the layers so that I can take the interior wall finish only up to the sheathing line, the wall does not join at the corners properly. It leaves a gap for the interior fininsh at a corner above the sheathing line when looking in 3d. What are you all doing with parpet walls and the interior finishes above the roof line?

Then I offset this line in the vertical plane. My next step is to offset this second line so that it is not directly above the original line, but offset in the horizontal plane. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to export my floor plan to dwg file and I have curtain wall there which have panels as regular wall types. The problem is that exporting it will put those panels on the wall layer. I need them to be on curtain wall panel layer. I tried to use "Function" parameter in wall family by changing certain wall types to Retaining (since I don't use this parameter) and changed Wall/Retaining category layer to curtain panel in dwg export setup. But it seems it has no effect.I also noticed that walls inserted as panels into curtain wall do have a parameter under "Identity Data" with the name "Categorize as" where are two values - wall or panel. But this does not have any effect either since there is no category for it in export setup.

Everytime I try to create a wall by face of one exactly face, it accept Location Line: By Finish Face Interior only, when I try to change ANY other Location Line, it gives me a message error.

And it is always from the SAME FACE highlighted at the picture.
The mass was made by the floors and top edges. I select all of the edges and create a mass from down to top.
All the other faces are ok and they accept the wall by face and let them change the Location Line except this one.
I would like ask if I create wall from mass by using wall by face. However, the walls have slope and they are not connected to each other.
(Please see the picture) When I would like to edit wall only option shows in modify is update to face. Do they have any way to edit this wall as normal?
I have done my studs for my wood frame, However, under blocking, when I tick "generate horizontal elements" and select OK, it tells me that there are identical instances in the same place, this will result in double counting in schedules.
