I am using AutoCad Architecture 2011. In the Style Manager, I created a wall style using a 8"CMU unit plus a 2" insulation board. I have a gable roof slab that intersects with the wall. I want to trim the insulation board along the bottom of the roof slab, and show the CMU above the roof slab.

2. In section 2, the first floor walls ends in 90 degrees angle at the roof. Can the walls be edited so that the joint line with the roof follow the roof slope?
Our model uses several material types for insulation, mostly rigid variations at this point. The various materials are used in floor, wall and roof systems. Is there a way to create a single schedule that would list insulation quantities across all three system types?
View 2 Replies View RelatedACA 2011...what the best way was to add rafter tails to a roof slab. Someone responded (and even attached a dwg) of a way to do it with a curtain wall. I'm not very well versed in curtain walls, though I get around okay with door & window assemblies, and they seem similar, I just don't really know what differentiates them within the program. That aside, any way to create exposed rafter tails more efficiently than arraying mass elements?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter having a problem projecting my walls to my roof slab (flat roof), which worked fine in previous sessions; and then trying the standard solutions of making sure my walls clean up properly, etc., I determined the problem was actually in that the walls do not like to project to a roof with components. In my last work session, I added a component to my roof. I switched back to a "standard" roof slab, projected the walls, and then switched back again to my roof with components.

When I use the 3DCLIP command to create section views of models created in Architecture, the wall and roof objects do not clip correctly. The clipping planes do not create sections of those objects.
Is there a way to get the 3DCLIP command to actually intersect wall and roof objects?
I am trying to align the curtain wall with the edge of the concrete slab/face of wood framed wall (Core). I have tried to align and move however the whole wall moves as well as the edge of the slab. How I can move the Curtain wall leaving the other elements in place?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are working on AutoCAD Arch 2012 and there is a custom edge profile we are using but we cannot get the profile to visualy turn off. We have placed it on its own layer and still can't turn it off.
This worked fine when we were in '04 - but it isn't working in '12... is this a bug?

Isn't there a terra cotta 12" flr slab that comes w/ the program? I could swear I've seen it before, but I opened up the imperial Slab & Slab Edge Styles dwg and there isn't a tile slab (or material) in there?
I have a slab with a edge style for a thicken slab (haunch). I have the materials for both objects identical. When I make a 2d section, the slab on top of the haunch does not clean up with the haunch on the bottom. When I go ACA out of the box slab & slab edge styles, there is a thicken slab (slab with haunch) live section the way it should look. I can't reproduce it even when I bring it in to my drw. from the out-of-box Does it have something to do with 2d section? This might sound simple but I'm just not able to figure it out how to make things cleanup.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to create a wall style that has 2 components, a framed wall and a brick veneer. What I would like to do is have this wall react a certain way when I insert a window. Basically, I don't want the window to cut into the brick veneer, only the framing.
I have attached my attempt so far, and I have not figured out how to get the window to only cut the framed portion.
I am having trouble cleaning up different wall types joining at or close to a corner. I tried to over ride the clean up radius....no luck.

When converting a wall to a curtain wall I select wall in the design pallette right click apply to wall select the wall and it changes to a curtain wall. When I try converting a curtain wall to a wall I right click on curtain wall select apply properties to wall then go to select the curtain wall but I cannot select the curtain wall as a wall?

I created a structural member of Pro-Panel II and placed it like a column. This works great, except when I need to trim the excess off at the end of a wall. I tried using a body modifies and it works in model view, but it doesn't in plan view.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I trim or move a block (roof trim mostly) there is an outline of the block I am working on, I know the solution, if you move the block over, it moves but the outline stays where the block used to be, then I copy it back and delete the outline or original block that made the outline and its back to normal.

I keep getting a Revit warning 'Highlighted walls are attached to, but miss, the highlighted targets.' when I try and attach part of a long wall, spanning between gables, to the underside of roof eave. I must emphasise that this happens on a long wall where I have edited the profile to create three step levels each with a roof on them. Parts of this wall do attach to their respective length of roof but others don't. I wonder if this is something to do with the wall's height parameter, which is the same for the whole length of the wall but will have differing distances to the edited profile?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am drawing up my house in Revit to get use to the software. I created my house, and now my garage. I selected to create a roof by footprint but when I tried to join the roof to the adjacent wall, the overhang does not follow. I then selected the overhang to join to the adjacent wall but an error pops up: "Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face."
I attached a PDF of the roof.Also, you will notice a line that separates the two walls I joined together. I may separate them but how do I avoid this if I want to make one solid wall?
As for the wall selection, I have vinyl siding and would like to use properties that relate when selecting my exterior walls. I do not see anything regarding that besides wood siding. I thought that should be in my properties when I downloaded and purchased the software.
how to create a wall that infills the gable between two levels of the same roof. There is no internal wall below this location - so this would be some sort of lightweight studwork and panelling rather than brick.

Since I am using slanted walls I need to work with a Mass but I can't get the mass look like my idea. The picture I attached is a simple screen capture of Rhino with the outline of the building.
I want to export from Revit 2013 to AutoCAD so that each component of a wall assembly exports to a separate AutoCAD layer. For example on a simple stud wall with drywall on both sides I would like the interior lines on different layers than the lines for the outside faces. Is this possible?
