Jun 12, 2012I am having trouble cleaning up different wall types joining at or close to a corner. I tried to over ride the clean up radius....no luck.

Jan 16, 2012I have received some architectural models which were modeled in AutoCAD MEP and only have walls modeled as type Standard. Is there a way to transform Standard walls into cavity walls etc., giving wall makeup as you go - or do I have to re-model in order to get quality 2D cuts?

Jun 24, 2011Having something very strange happen out of the blue.Have wall types like lightweight block (Component Priority = 300) and stud gyp walls (Component Priority = 500) suddenly cleaning up w/ each other.
Hasn't been happening before when base lines extend to each other, but suddenly on this new project they are.
I am expanding on my modeling w/ this project. I taken another step in 3D modeling w/ ACA and am extending walls vertically to multiple floors and referencing the base floor plan into (below) the base file of the second floor. Everything is working as I expected and set up EXCEPT for this one thing. Hard to point to this as the difference because I'm having this issue on the first floor....where the reference issue is not part of the equation.
Also, know there is a way for my lightweight block walls on the second floor to clean up/merge w/ lightweight block of the exterior walls being referenced in...but can't find where that "check box"/switch is. Found it many moons ago, but didn't need it then.

Dec 7, 2011I'm attempting to create a wall style that has 2 components, a framed wall and a brick veneer. What I would like to do is have this wall react a certain way when I insert a window. Basically, I don't want the window to cut into the brick veneer, only the framing.
I have attached my attempt so far, and I have not figured out how to get the window to only cut the framed portion.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Convert Curtain Wall To A Wall?
Apr 14, 2011I can convert a wall to a curtain wall but not a curtain wall to a wall. When converting a wall to a curtain wall I select wall in the design pallette right click apply to wall select the wall and it changes to a curtain wall. When I try converting a curtain wall to a wall I right click on curtain wall select apply properties to wall then go to select the curtain wall but I cannot select the curtain wall as a wall?
I simply want to convert an existing curtain wall to another wall type how is that done/
Revit :: Creating Wall Types
Feb 21, 2012How do I create simple wall types? I would like to create 2x6 and 2x4 walls with 7/16" OSB on them. I would like to see each stud when I going into 3D and I would like the dimensions to be from face of framing; not the OSB or centerline.
I would like to mimic the plan dimensions when I input the building into Rivet. Basically, I want to build a stick framed home so I can add the floors, walls and roof and then go into the mechanical and see how it all stacks out and is going to come together.
Revit :: Three Wall Intersection With Odd Join?
Dec 4, 2013I have 2 corners between 3 walls, one of which is of an odd construction. I want the outer layers of the two side walls to meet as they do when trimmed to each other but this creates a bit of angled wall inside the room on the upper left. I want that corner to look like the left and top walls are trimmed. The two corners are too far apart for wall join to clean the whole intersection and I can't really move any of these walls.

But when i try the schedules i only seem to be able to list those that are "in use"?
Legend view seems totally useless as you cannot tag or list the elements and info like "description" etc.

Jul 23, 2012I am using the RetainWallVertical subassembly with a created gutter subassembly attached to the wall and a DaylightGeneral subassembly attached to the gutter assembly. My cut slope parameter is set to hold at 1.5:1. I would like to use a target (feature line or alignment) to daylight to and have the wall height adjust accordingly. Problem, I am not able to use a target other than a surface for daylighting. I can use my existing ground surface, which I am daylighting too, but I can't adjust the target point.

Jun 23, 2012This is the first time I experience a major problem with Revit 2012. I created a duplicate of an 8" concrete masonry wall for my student project. Then I selected the Edit option in the Structure to change the rendered material to concrete masonry. Suddenly the program freezes and crashes. A window pops up stating that Windows has detected a problem with Revit and must shut the program down. I've everything since my last save. As of now, I recreated a duplicate of the masonry wall I need and started drawing some of the walls for my project but I'm afraid to experiment with other materials. Background Information about my computer: I downloadeda free version of Revit 2012 student software to practice at home. I have Windows 7 64-bit, 6GB of Ram and Intel (R) Core i7 2.20GHz...(I checked all the software requirements before downloading the correct version of Revit 2012)
Do I have to uninstall the program and reinstall it again? Would the problem go away?
Revit :: Wall Types Legend - Component Not Visible In Selected View
Mar 8, 2011I'm trying to make a Wall Types Legend using the Legend function in 2011. I did the first wall type just fine, placed it in section, tagged the material, etc. Now when I go to place another wall in a section view, it tells me the component is not visible in selected view. They are both new construction phase, stacked walls.

I can make a wall the color that I want, but ALL that type walls become that color. Apr 12, 2012Any way to get a wall sweep that's set up in the type/structure properties to follow a wall if that walls profile has changed. For example, in the image below, I've split the wall and adjusted it's profile to create some cheesy angled parapet. How do i get my wall cap to follow along? I thought splitting it and changing it's height would work, but no. And if I change the profile without splitting the wall the wall cap just runs right through the wall, as if the profiel was never even changed.

Jul 25, 2013I have to draw a bulkhead wall that connects to a full height wall and a gyp bd ceiling. This causes the entire end of the full height wall to skew in line with the butt joint above the ceiling level. I tried Wall Joins but all the options screw up the bottom half of the wall which needs to remain in line with the paired opposite. I also tried editing the sketch of the wall profile but Revit couldn't keep the elements joined. I tried trimming the two walls back together afterwards but the wall profile dominates and prevents a clean join above the ceiling.
Surely there's a way to have different kinds of joins at different heights?

When I change the wall type to one with a different thickness, I cannot control which face of the wall remains fixed and which face moves. eg: change from 130mm to 250mm screws up my room width. How do I do this?
Revit :: Arched Hole In Wall And Wall Height
Apr 16, 2013I am trying to make a floorplan of my house in Revit 2013, but I am having an issue when it comes to one wall in my house. I have an opening in the Master Bedroom that leads to the bathroom. This wall has a weird arched-like opening in it and I have no clue how to make this in Revit. I have attached a sketch.
Also, my exterior walls are 7' tall but the interior walls start at 7' and go up to 8' once in the middle of the house and reduce back to 7". How does one set that up in Revit?
EDIT: May have made the image too small to see, but the top is not arched, it is actually half of a decagon.
Revit :: Adding Wall Sweeps To Wall Profile?
Jul 29, 2011I have a question about wall profiles. I want to make a profile on a wall so I can make Zinc Panels on the wall that are 10" X 20". I've attached a picture of what I'm going for. I'd like it to have a 1/2" spacing between them and with a joint depth of 1" and I'd like to do this is the wall type so that I can use this wall in multiple places rather than having it model-in-place. Anyway I have made a profile that is 1" X 10" so that it can become my panel profile. But when I go to add it to the wall as a wall sweep as I have seen people do I get hung up on how to make it tile up the wall and also I don't understand how to make the profile so that it is 20" wide. Apr 19, 2012I used to be able to snap to the end of the linework that form the visual end or intersection of walls while grip dragging a wall of one style to another. For example, using a wallstyle as a countertop, I'd be able to drag it to the corner of a room and use object snap to the intersection. In ACA 2012, the object snap defaults to the justification plane of the wall even if that's not where the intersection snap is desired.

This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.

had to explode the couple of walls I was editing, saved as 2011 or 2010 file.
When I open the file in ACA2011 I can not execute the wall tool. This is the message received:
Command: _AecWallAdd Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application.
The new objects would be lines.

I am trying to move a door so that the door is flush with a face of wall. The prompts in acad do not match the instructions.
For instance; select door, okay. then from anchor panel select 'reposition within wall', okay a red line appears and prompt to 'select position on the opening'. okay so i click the face or side of door jamb then select a reference point. (guide says select point to measure to) and on and on. Door never moves.
it should be; select door, select reposition in wall, select reference point (interior, exterior, midpoint), select the desired location. Done.
Instead it is select this that and the other , measure from here, select, click.click click.
