View 3 RepliesI am producing a infill on a shop and I have used curtain walls. See photo below.
I am not sure what would be the best way to do this would you make a mass or in place model.
I am not sure the name of the system but it is like insulation panels or like blinds.
I'm working in Autodesk Revit 2013, just trying to learn whatever I can.
For the life of me, I cannot get the mullions to miter together properly. What I have is a situation (within a sample project from Revit OOTB) where on a curtain wall, the lower horizontal mullion and originating end vertical mullion do miter at their corner. The curtain wall is attached to the floor decks below and above. However, nowhere else will other horizontal and vertical edge mullions on the grid miter together for a smooth junction. I fail to see how Autodesk themselves can get only one corner out of 4 to work properly, and furthermore, let this program out on the market with such a nerve-wracking anomaly within their product.
I've been working on a saved-as copy of one of Autodesk's sample projects. How to get mullions to work properly, consistently?
Having a time getting ribs to align 2m below top of ridge beam, and connect to curved wall below. I created one, then arrayed, but the radius changes at each 2.5 degree interval. I don't think I should have to calculate the % radius change to get the beams to do this. Some constraint button maybe?
Not sure if editing a wall profile is the best way to model this, but it's working.
I can't load any glass curtain doors from seek or revitcity. They won't load as a component or door.
I can't place a door into a storefront wall. I get this error saying something like,"cutting surface doesn't not work" I tried to adjust the mullions so that the door would fit, but it still doesn't work.
Can I demension the interior side of a wall when the wall justification is centerline?
Is there a way to calculate the roof load in revit?
I'd like to select glass in curtain wall to put door in it , but it didn't select .......why? attach Jpg for it
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe only door I can find to insert into a glass curtain wall is a simple glass single door with a handle. I know this is a very particular thing and any door won't work. My door needs to have stiles and rails like most doors in storefronts or curtain walls. How do I create a type with these features? Do I need to create a family from scratch?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a glass roof structure over a staircase (see attached image - underground roof). I thought that I would do this by creating an in place mass, then adding either a roof or probably more likely a curtain wall system to the faces. However I am struggling to create the mass. I have made a wireframe of the roof (wireframe) using lines where the roof folds are, in autocad. I have then linked this in to Revit.
When I come to creating the Mass, I can only place lines using the "Pick line tool", which then only places lines on a specific reference plane (level 1,2 etc), so I only get a 2d footprint of the area I want to create this mass.
If I try to create a mass face using the 3d snapping tickbox, Revit fails to register that there are any lines for me to snap too. I have tried to "Tab", but this doesn't work either.
I am having a problem with creating a curtain wall system. After selecting my mass surfaces and choosing "create system" I am unable to change the type of curtain wall system. It just comes up with a regular grid system on the mass, where as before I was able to choose triangles, rhomboids etc under the properties tab. Now however I see nothing except for the current curtain system and recently used files.
I have also created a custom panel which I want to insert into my project but am unable to do so? I have tried loading it into the project, however because of the above problem I am not able to change it to my custom panel system.
I'm working on a blueprint and trying to get my roof to do something besides a straight slope, but it isn't going well. I need the roof to curve from the corners inward to the point, like the top of a Japanese pagoda.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a rectangular double curved roof (hyperbolic paraboloid). Did that just by adjusting shape handles up and down in diagonally opposite corners.
I want to draw a grid on it mostly as a graphical thing, so its shape is evident. Have tried model lines which won't attach even when grouped.
When I apply a curtain system to a mass, the curtain panels flip inside to outside as shown in the attached image, when applied to a curved mass surface. Additionally, if these systems are applied independently the system justification (beginning and end) is reversed.

I've tried using a glass balustrade family but this doesn't seem to work as the size of the panels prevent it following the curve. A similar problem exists at the edge of the floor where the balustrade needs to follow the curved edge of the floor. The handrail element of the balustrade works fine.
I need to make a roof on a curved building. But when I try with Roof by Footprint it just brings up the error "Can't make footprint roof."
View 6 Replies View RelatedI try to 'lock' a beam system that I have used for rafters to the underside of my roof.I've successfully got the walls and gables linked in with the roof, and have set up reference planes for cutting of rafters (that should - I think - mean that rafters can move slightly - or change pitch, whilst maintaining same cut extents at rafter ends).
Trouble is - the rafter Beam System does not update with the roof.
My creation approach for the Beam System was to select the underside of the roof as the 'Working Plane' - then edit the boundary to project beyond the walls and form the overhang. I projected it further than I required to provide the excess needed in case I wanted to push the cut plane outwards.
I assumed that selecting the underside of the roof as the working plane would 'lock' the two together, but it doesn't appear to work.Have I missed a straightforward step to link the two elements together ?
I am trying to align the curtain wall with the edge of the concrete slab/face of wood framed wall (Core). I have tried to align and move however the whole wall moves as well as the edge of the slab. How I can move the Curtain wall leaving the other elements in place?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a curtain wall I need to make, but I need it to be curve on elevation. Its an arch. I can do it on sketchup but I need autocad precision to establish the modules. I have this division settings, horizontal 3.111 vertical 3.559m.
The profile arch has a 40.062m radius. 27.741 arc length. and a total angle of 39.673.
My question is, how can I bend the curtain wall??? I can make a flat curtain wall to follow my referenced base curve, but I need tu curve it in elevation. Here is a demo view from sketchup. What i'm trying to do is the coloured face.
How can i get horizontal mullions to cut through vertical instead or reverse?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a curved curtain wall based on a reference curve. I set the divisions and mullions and everything seems to be working like its supposed to except for a the mullions and the infill panels. First, the mullions vertically and horizontally dont seem to line up nor have any way to miter with themselves. They should because they are extruding along the same center point. This should be simple but it doesnt seem to work. Second, and the most annoying, is that the curtain wall infill panels dont seem to know where they are supposed to cut themselves. They leave themselves stranded at the ends for some reason and none of the settings for the panel or the curtain wall itself seems to address this. I thought it might have to do with the center point of the profile I used for the frames and mullions but apparently they dont and I dont have control of it. Seems like it should work a little more cleanly. Unless it is some sort of bug in ACA 2013.
