I have my grids assigned to a scope box and have modified the extents of many of them. How can I apply that to the remaining floors? I think you are able to do this with dependent views. How about with adjacent views on the rest of the floors?
We would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

Since the end of Aug. 2012 I've been making families for a manufacturer. I left Friday evening with good families. This morning I am finding all the families I checked with a problem.
When I move the cursor across the various views it doubles the views. Rolling the mouse wheel one click either way to zoom in or out cleans the view but on the next time the cursor goes across the view it doubles it again. Now there are 4 views overlapping each other. The next time it is possibly 8, and so on. It is difficult to count them because they are overlapping but it looks like they are doubling each time.
The software is Revit Architecture 2011 and the computer is a Dell Precision T3500.Are the families corrupted or is it the computer? Is there a toggle I hit that I shouldn't have?
Revit Arch 2012. I've got some large grids in the model and need to adjust their 2d extends in a matchline plan. However every time I try to do so, I receive the "Element is too small on screen" error.
Screencast of error in action.

I mentioned in the vid that the grids were Copy/Monitor'ed from "another drawing"... I meant another model.
Any lighting fixture families in revit Architecture that snap to the ceiling grid? I've seen them in Revit MEP. Would be a lot nicer than having to align them manually.
I'm inquiring whether or not it is possible for Revit ceilings to be customized by the input of a user regarding the shapes and sizes without using a .pat file. Almost like a parametric object with predefined limitations. For example: a rectangular ceiling tile 'x' can be from 6 inches to 10 feet and side 'y' can be from 6 inches to 6 feet. So someone can select the ceiling type and actually input what size 'x' and 'y' they'd like while staying within those limitations.
I am trying to create a Window with adjustable colonial and prairie grids. I have created many windows like this so I know I am able to do it. I am currently working on creating the colonial grids. I have it partially working. I can adjust the height and the grids will move correctly with the window with no problems. But when I try to adjust the width I get the error "constraints are not satisfied" I have no idea why I keep getting this error message because to me this should work and I have run into this same problem multiple different times. Why can I adjust the height and not width?
Is it possible to disable propogate frame 1 permanently in cs6. Everytime I uncheck it, if I undo my edits or erase my frames it copies the first frame elements onto the entire animation causing for me to go through and fix this eachtime.
I'm aware there was a way to diable it in Cs3 but I don't see a way to so it in cs6.
I'm trying to import a a custom titleblock into each existing layout from a dwg. So far, i've been successful in importing this block into the first layout but can't seem to figure how to bring it into the remaining. I have a command that runs before this one that allows the user to define how many layouts should exist, so for instance, if a user opts to create 7 layouts, once they import this titleblock, i'd like it to appear in all 7 layouts. So far this is what i've got.
namespace CHTitleBlockImportMetricH { public class CHTBMETRICH
I linked in a dwg floor plan and it shows on the first floor but not in the 2nd floor or any others views. I thought as long as you left "current view only" in the Link CAD Dialog box unchecked it should show in all views.
My class opened Revit today to do a tutorial. However, the default views were messed up. There was only 1 floor plan. I have used Revit before, and I know that this is not right. For example, there was only 1 level, and there were no elevation views even present.
I have been trying to import my 3d views to 3ds max from revit as fbx files which has worked. But when trying to save it says either error writing to file or file is possibly corrupt. I have tried resaving and creating new files but that has resulted in the same problem, as well as creating new export files from revit, and saving on my h drive or on seperate usbs that have had no success.
Has it ever been discussed if it is possible to make the Revit callouts (sections, details, etc.) hyperlinks to those views when printed to PDF? I have added hyperlinks to PDF sets using Bluebeam and Acrobat, but it would be great if that was standard output from Revit.
Anything I can do to stop this happening. Split floorplan layout inserted on sheet to compress length to fit.Section lines appear in both and cant hide in one or the other hence overlapping
I am trying to achive various exploded renders. I have done this in the past using the section box tool and moving the view up and down to reveal or hide parts.I am wanting to do a constructional exploded render as shown in the image attached.
How do you turn off the default check for "Propigate to parent view" when creating a breal in a drawing view. I have never had the need to use this option yet it is checked by defalt.
I have two simple parts: an (almost) rectangular prism and a simple polygonal extrusion. The polygonal extrusion needs to be situated inside the prism, so I placed them in an assembly constrained the polygonal extrusion made a sketch on the extrusion with a simple 1/8 outward Offset of the profiledid a Model > Modify Assembly > Extrude using the profile and Through All selected removed the polygonal extrusion as a participant to get the desired effect (in the photo, the offset is enlarged for clarity):
This works perfectly at the assembly level. However, I would also like this cut to be propagated to the rectangular part itself (the part through which the cut passes). When I open the part file, I still see the original part without the cut. Is there a way I can cut the part itself without recreating the shape in the part to be cut?
I've tried using Model > Create > Derive with the intention of using Model > Modify > Combine with an operation mode of Cut, but when I Derive the part, it is placed in the wrong location:
I have two models in Revit 2011 that have items that are not showing in any views. I restored a backup and tried to copy and paste between the two models and it warns me that there are duplicate items in the same area. Once I get this message all remaining components of that type show up.
I made sure the items weren't hidden or turned off in the model and the views.
breaking wall section views ? ie. using the section view tool works very well for a BIM wall type, but how can we cut the section so we don't need to have the view show the entire height, etc of the wall. especially when fitting in representative sections of twenty different wall types/situations on a single sheet ?
I thought that Cut Profile would be working with linked models (with By Linked View) by now. I know it didn't work a few years ago, but we've just tried it in 2014 and it still isn't correctly displaying views that have had the Cut Profile tool used on them when linked into another file (using By Linked View).
Can you make a glass, which is transparency also in elevation views? In 3D views it is transparency and you can adjust it too, but not in elevation view? Is it so?
You can only hide it totally or let it be non transparency?
I would like to have two different layouts of my site plan. One is existing and does not show any of the new construction. The other is a complete view of the project. Is there a way to keep the existing site plan dependent while turning off the new construction to show only the previous + demo? If I set up a view template I cannot alter in the dependent view to make the changes that I want as options are greyed out. Is the only way to do this to create them as independent views?
is there a way to cut/copy a view off of a sheet and paste it onto another sheet in the same exact location (paste aligned)?
For example i have three elevations on one sheet...i would like to keep one on that sheet and cut and paste the other two onto another sheet in the same locations...possible?
One day until final plot, and we have a project where 3/4 of the enlarged plan callouts and associated views have lost their "Referencing Sheet" and "Referencing Detail" information.
1. What could have caused this?
2. How to get it back, short of removing the affected views and recreating the sheets?
I am having trouble on how to show the brick pattern on my 3d views. Some shows some do not, only the shade color. i am exporting or printing to pdf these 3d images under consistent shade mode no shadows. I tried flipping wall orientations, didn't work. Apparently when v viewing afar the patterns do not show, when zooming in to the view they show up. but the savifn the current 3d viewing with the patterns partly showing yields the same output prints.
We just upgraded to Revit 2014. We had several Revit 2013 models we converted. We are now experience some visual issues within Revit. Specifically, on our Exterior Elevation views, though we are using Hiden Line display, we are seeing some "wireframe" lines, like the double line where the roof is cut, we are seeing our floor betwen levels, etc. I was wondering if it was a Service Pack issue. Issue 1 has been released. I tried to install the patch, and received an error that the product is not installed. I have also downloaded the latest certified video driver, but have not installed that till I tried to get the patch updated.
Whenever I try to print sheets that contain shaded (or better) 3D views, these 3D views do not appear on my prints/Pdf's/DWFx's. I've tried different PDF-drivers and hardcopy printers that are in my office, but they all don't work.
Some things that maybe can narrow the cause down:
- Printing a single 3D view to a DWFx works
- Printing a single 3D view to PDF or hardcopy printer doesn't work
- Printing a Hidden Line view on sheets works on alle printers
- 2013; printing a sheet containing 3D views works. When upgrading the same project to 2014, the same sheet fails.
