When I have a cdr file and need to save it as a plt file for my plotter the saved file has several little straight lines to make a curve instead of one smooth curved line. This didn't start happening until I upgraded to Corel Draw x4.
View 5 RepliesI'm making a stylized picture composed wholly of curved lines. I free-handed the curves with my pointer tablet, and then I've been going in with the paintbrush thickening the lines and smoothing edges and whatnot (my tablet makes exceedingly wiggly lines for some reason)... It takes FOREVER going in and trying to make a perfectly smooth line using a 3px brush... (The original image is 3000 x 3450. Great learning experience, but my eyes feel like they're about to fall out of my skull after tracing, re-tracing, and re-re-tracing a 30-pixel area for an hour, lol.) I'm convinced that with the amazing images that come out of Photoshop, they must have a tool that makes creating curves a simple, easy process.

However everytime after saving, and opening the file again, the curve breaks into many line segments, which is not what I want! I want the curved line that I draw to remain as a curved line even after saving and opening. How do I do that? I am using autocad2010.
I use the ARC command to draw a couple of lines, they look okay here. But after I saved it, and re-open it again, what previously appeared as curved lines changed in their appearance to polyline segments.

In PSCS5 and earlier, I used to be able to make a straight line of points in a curve by placing 9 points on the straight line curve. I did this by drawing a small straight line at the bottom of the curve using the pencil tool and then clicking the curve point icon.
I can't seem to do this with CS6.
I've got CS6 and Windows 7. Trying to make a line with an arrow on one end curve around a circle. Actually want it to have a 3D look like it was curving around the back side of a globe. How do you do this?

After opening the curve dialog box, draw a straight line with the pencil tool and then click the wavy icon above the pencil tool icon (edit points to modify the curve) and it would automatically place 9 equidistant points on the curve. With CS6, it only places 3 points. Any way to get 9(or at least multiple) points placed?

Green Circle: Where the lines meet end to end
Red Circle: Where the lines overlap
Blue Circle: Where I crossed lines perpendicularly in example of what's going wrong.
For a while now I have been attempting to resolve a a part of my CAD drawing. As seen below I have a 3D Solid. The part circled is result of subtracting a cylinder from the shape. I am now trying to find a solution to make both the above and below edges of the dotted line meet as one while maintaining the curve I have subtracted.

I've a vague notion that this could be done with a dynamic block and a few fancy expressions. I'm comfortable with expressions, but I've never used dynamic blocks at all, so I wouldn't know where to start.
To be clear, I know curved text is possible, but I'm looking for a curved line (ie an arc) that would look 'parallel' to the arc of the feature line (ie have the same centre point). This would have to be dynamic to allow for different radii and for flipping to the left and right side of the feature line.
Having a time getting ribs to align 2m below top of ridge beam, and connect to curved wall below. I created one, then arrayed, but the radius changes at each 2.5 degree interval. I don't think I should have to calculate the % radius change to get the beams to do this. Some constraint button maybe?
Not sure if editing a wall profile is the best way to model this, but it's working.
Is there a way to create a macro that would change the shape of a curve or line.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used polyline to trace a tree trunk. I wanted it to be just a series of line segments which I was going to export to AutoCAD and then to Sketchup. However, each segment I drew said it was a curve. When I exported to AutoCAD it came in as a spline. If I convert that to lines, where I had maybe 10 lines there are now 100.
I also tried to 2 point line tool. I started each new line from the end of the previous. It gave me the same result.
Is there a way for me to end up with just the 10 line segments? No spline. No curve. Just 10 straight lines.
I know this has been in Draw for a long while, but I wish they'd make the arrow tip start at the end of a curve.
steps to reproduce:
F7, draw a curve
draw a line
change both to have an arrow on one end
change both to 16px thickness so you can see the arrow position well
This problem comes up when I'm doing a detailed diagram and I've got my arrows going around all over the place. I need to tweek one so I convert to curve... but in doing so, the end of the arrow sticks out farther than it used to... and that forces me to change the postions and angles of possibly a few nodes.
I'd like the arrow to end at the node so there's no change in it's position when you do a convert to curves.
This is one of those... "that's not a bug, it's been around forever" type of things I know, but it should be changed IMHO.
I should mention that this is also a pain when you go in with the node edit tool when the line isn't selected and you can't see the nodes... you click around at the end, and eventually find it hiding in the center of the arrow/triangle part.
