May 15, 2013When soft proofing, I split the image horizontally and then create proof image when asked after making first alteration.However, in both LR4.4 and 5Beta, both the original and virtual (i.e., proofing image) change.
Have l Brightness value of 55 in original. Proofed image is duller. Increase brightness in proof by 10 to match original. (Figures are just for explanation) Now when I compare images again, original image brightness has increased by 10 also. This can be seen, of course, on the Develop panel.
Photoshop :: Soft Proof Set Up?
Dec 4, 2008I'm having with profiling my monitor/printer. I use an i1 Proof which includes the ability to profile my printer but my printer at the moment is a small Epson desktop printer - R220. "Near-as-damn_it" is my usual standard and suits me for general photography. At the moment I am photographing paintings with more exacting standards for reproduction.
I callibrate both monitor and printer. I have read and re-read instructions and use genuine paper/ink. My prints are appear a little darker than my monitor and in fact, the original painting. So can Soft proofing give an idea of the accuracy of the profile? (that's my main question).
Here are my settings
Device to simulate - myPrinterPaperProfile
Preserve RGB numbers - Not checked
REndering Intent - Perceptual
Black Point Compensation - checked
Simulate Paper - checked (which also auto checks the simulate black ink option)
Now, if that's my sofr proof setting and I toggle ctrl-y I am flipping between an impression of my printer profile and the actual display profile - is that correct? If I could put a screen shot of the two on the web,
Photoshop :: Profiles Don't Show Up In Soft Proof...
Apr 14, 2008an old box of Crane Museo paper to make some prints on my Epson 3800. I downloaded and installed the Museo profile from Crane almost a year ago, and it shows up in the Windows/sys32/spool/drivers/color directory, along with all my other profiles.
But when I tried to soft proof the image in CS3, the Museo profile did not appear in the list in the Soft Proof dialog. On closer look, there were a few other profiles that also failed to appear.
Is there any way to manually add these profiles to the Soft Proof list? I always thought that the Soft Proof drop down list just picked up the entire "...../color" directory?

Edit an image file and get it to where I like on the monitor.Duplicate the file and set the new file to the profile for the printer which will be used, by using View > Proof Setup > Custom and setting an imported printer profile for the printing company that I use.
Edit the soft proof file to get it to where it looks good again. Save off the file for the printer and also save the new PSD file.
Close the PSD file.Reopen the new (soft proofed) PSD file.Still looks good, but.... when you check View > Proof Setup it's now generally set to Custom: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 instead of to the imported printer profile which was set previously. WHY???? Where did the printer profile go? Is it supposed to do this?
If I then reset View > Proof Setup to the correct printer profile, the image goes to crap again.

Dec 29, 2012Trying to import images as dng and crashes my computer. It writes to a temp folder and cannot delete the temp folder bc there is error in writing to it. Mac OSX. Have done this many time with no problem. I can make adjustments inside the program and when I export the modified images to another folder it writes to a temp folder as well. but doesnt crash the system.

May 31, 2012I’m having a problem exporting a Japanese character in my PDF proof of my book. I’m using this character ( 間 ) in a number of different places and it looks fine in the Blurb book layout tool but it’s missing in the PDF when I export. Not only is the character missing but all of the text that follows it in the text box is gone too. Is there some special type of language pack I need to install for Acrobat to export correctlly?
I’m on Windows 7 64 bit. Using LR 4.1 release.
VideoStudio :: Can't Create 3D Videos - Program Crashes
Mar 26, 2011After successfully using VideoStudio X2 for quite a while now, I’ve just updated VideoStudio X4.
My laptop meets the minimum specifications, however, I have just one problem with X4.
I can output to every file format including HD, but if I choose the 3D option, anaglyph or side by side, the program “crashes“.
I get 'the program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning' and 'the memory could not be read' errors. Both messages show 3 times each. The program will eventually close when I’ve OK’d all six messages.
I’ve tried different lengths of video, from short to long, but it makes no difference.
I don’t plan on doing loads of 3D videos, just the occasional short one for fun. Even though I find red/blue 3D video tiresome to watch, I would like to have a fully functioning program as everything else on X4 works like a dream.

May 14, 2011I have a project with only photos (about 200) and 3 songs. Total length is about 16min. I have successfully created a .MPG (2.3GB) and .WMA (474MB) HD files.
My problem is when I create a MPEG-4 HD files. It kept crashing the program while "Creating File..."
Error message, "The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis."
I tried another project with photos and music only and encountered the same problem. Shortening the project yielded the same (one song and a few pictures).
I tried using "Custom" and using the HD settings resulted in the same error. Nothing works.
My patches are up to date. How to create Hi Def movie files that I can playback with and Apple computer (Quicktime).

I have successfully been able to create a subroutine that will accept a block name, a point3D Location and a layer name and and insert the specified block at the specified location on the specified layer. What I need to do now is to cycle through model space and find all of the pipe objects in model space. I then find the endpoint of each pipe and insert a block at that location. why this is crashing the program? I just started programming dotnet this weekend and my head is starting to explode.
My end goal is to cycle through every pipe in model space. If the pipe belongs to a specified system definition then find the pipe size and insert a corresponding block on the endpoint of the pipe. I then want to export the blocks to a new drawing to be imported into a trimble unit for locating inserts on a deck.

Nov 16, 2012I was working on a very HI-res image when Paint Shop Pro X4 just quit. It just went away, no errors, nothing.
I can rescan the image, but it was a very large image and took lots of disk space.
Is this scanned in image still on my hard drive? If it is where do I find it, so I can delete it?

Apr 9, 2013I'm making a layout of 2 inch squares, 20 wide and 5 tall, to make color swatches for matching a target color. I'm then taking a starting value and using the edit colors>blend vertically, and blend horizontally to blend the color in the direction I think it needs. But every three or so blends i make it crashes the program, and even when I save my progress it crashes half the time. its a simple file just 2 inch square with color files.
I'm using CS6 on a osx10.6.8 ALL other jobs I've been working on have been fine.

Worked OK until I tried to import. The import wouldn't work, and the program was disabled. This is not a case of actually selecting a file to import. Apr 2, 2014When I am going through RAW files from my Canon cameras (1Ds MkIII and 6D) I edit them in the develop module and then convert to aRGB or sRGB depending on the output media. They look good in aRGB and sRGB too when I take into account the limitations of sRGB.
---> However, if I try the softproof to aRGB or sRGB the resulting proof crushes dark tones into solid black. Why is this when the actual conversions are way better? The actual conversions look good in both LR and PS CS5.
I have also noticed that when I upload images to my online galleries and view them with Firefox (latest version and color management enabled for all rendered graphics) they appear darker in the darkest tones than what they appear in LR. What gives?
