CorelDRAW X5 :: Designing Large Signs - 3% Zoom
Sep 27, 2013I am designing large signs in corel draw ( 29 feet x 15 feet ). When I zoom out it only goes to 3%. Is there a way to let corel let me work with larger signs?

I need to identify these Fonts, used in traffic signs – as well as the Font used in the quotes measurements below. "What The Font" could not find out them.
We do all of our braille signs using a rotary-engraving machine -- get awesome results, but very noisy. Have any of the laser engravers out there had any success doing this process with their lasers?

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. It has a 500GB HD, 4GB RAM, 16" screen and CorelDRAW X5 and Summa's WinPlot bridge software installed. Everything runs perfectly.
I want to be able to cut vinyl letters from my Summa D75R vinyl cutter and then to cut a different colored outline to be applied over the top of those letters. The letters themselves, that is, the main body of the letters, I can cut with no problem.
I know that I will have to separate the two elements and cut the letters from one file and the outlines from a different file. As an experiment I created a single word with a color. I then created an outline for that word. I deleted the body of the letter leaving only the outline.
I then did a "Convert to Curves" on the outline and imported the image into the WinPlot software that my Summa D75R vinyl cutter uses. I sent the image to the cutter but it cut it as a solid letter. It did not make a double-line cut as it would have to do to make the image an outline.
This is a 4K image, zoomed out, it closely resembles a grid, although you would never know. I want a clear view when zoomed out of my grid.

He is requesting I design it in 1/4 size so I've broken it down into inches and I came up with 31.5''x132''. Anyways how would I achieve the 3 inch bleed all around? Would I design the poster in the measurements I have mentioned or do I actually need to add an additional 3 inches to the layout?
View 14 Replies View RelatedUsing ligntroom 4 from the cloud setup, is there any kind of setting I can use to defeat the big blotto sign that pops up just under center screen in "Develope" mode when you Ctrl-z (undo)/Ctrl-y(redo)?
When you have the image in single image view and so quite large, when in full screen, that UNDO thing pops up right in the most likely place you are carefully watching to see the changes. And it is absolutely huge, at least for something that is apparently meant to be a gentle reminder for the event where you didn't do it on purpose.
Maybe a small picky thing but I can think of no reason that sign needs to be so "In your face", why not down in a corner and in font many times smaller.
At any rate, what can I do to get rid of it or move it to a less obnoxious location?
I am using 3ds Max 2012 to create some simple freeway directional signs for my experiment. I succeeded to make a panel but when I export it, the color has changed for some unknown reason. It looks like an additional white layer applied on the surface (In the yellow box in the attached pic).
Any suspicious check options I can try?? I really need to do this right..
Details and sections signs in model/viewport modes,
In steel structure drawings, it is very common to have cross sections at particular locations as well as having details at specific joint.
I’m wondering if there is a way to have automation for
Having a sign (circular or rectangular) on the original drawing to show what each viewport represents on the model space (attached). This feature is already available (for example) in the ArcGIS software, i.e, each viewports is indicated by a sign on the original map to show where we are in that viewport
Having a cross section sign that represents at which location the cross section is taken (attached)
I’m not talking here about 3D model. All what I want is to show what each viewport represent on the mother drawing and also to show where the cross section is taken.

I am currently in the process of doing some traffic management drawings and need some road signs, but mainly im after some free cone software apparently. You can get some really good software, free if possible if not then the cheapest available. This is for autocad 2008.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have the zoom options stay visible within the Corel Draw X5 interface, perhaps as clickable options in a toolbar ?
I would like to always see the zoom options as I use them frequently.
In X5 holding [Shift] while zooming with the scroll-wheel decreases the zoom step size. In X6, holding [Shift] has no effect and CorelDraw zooms in the same large steps as when zooming without holding [shift].
I have both X5 and X6 installed. X5 performs as it should, X6 does not.
why [shift] has no effect? I desperately want the smaller zoom-steps back!
We have close to 11k of CDR files that we need to convert into PDF files because a great number of these CDR files have multiple pages in them. I'd like to be able to do this as a batch process.
I've tried this product called FoxPDF CDR to PDF converter, but it doesn't work. All it does is convert it to a PDF file, but inside the file there is nothing but a very large red pixelated shape in every single PDF file it creates. I've tried it on about 20 CDR files.

I couldn't seem to find a macro that can batch convert CDR to PDF on [URL].....
Any great way to do this on a large number of files?
I encountered problems with large prints from CorelDRAW X5 and I searched the forum for solutions (and didn't find any just questions with the same basic problem)
Set up:
processor Intel i5
memory 12Gb
Windows Home Premium 64bit
Corel X5 with memory limit patch (description at the end of the post).Every printer is on the network directly, some with fiery controllers other with their own network cards. For a demonstration I loaded a print merge with 2000 pages (but it could have been 20 pages with large graphicsm it would have a very similar result), as seen in the first picture.
When I open the print dialog Corel freezes up (hangs because it's waiting on splwow64.exe) until preflight is finished. If I attempt to modify ANY settings I have a 99% chance to crash the whole application. Depending on spooled file size this may take from 5 minutes to infinity. (picture in second post)
Naturally if for any reason the preflight needs to be generated again the waiting starts again. Also sometimes when I initialize printing, it hangs (third post with pic)And sometimes the preflight is generated incorrectly (as in the first page is printed multiple times and the same amount of pages are missing from the end or other wacky glitches)
So basically is there a way to speed up the preflight generation (as in resolve the splwow64.exe issue or somehow use 100% of the processor since it just using ~35% in my case) ?
Is there a way to only manually initiate a preflight after I set up the printing (not starting automatically when I open the print dialog)? Is there a way to start only a partial preflight ? (in most cases a sample of 5-10 pages from the document is enough to set up printing)I managed to solve a lot of the issues because I started out with CorelDraw crashing from generating the print merges or trying to save them - quite far from slow printing.
So the sum up of the solutions up to this point:
Switch from 32bit windows to 64bit.
Add RAM to a minimum of 8GB
Use memory patch on desired applications so the apps can use up to 4Gb of memory instead of 2Gb.Download patch here: URL.....
Applications (CorelDRW.exe and CorelPP.exe) in C:Program Files (x86)CorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5Programs
And now all that stand in the way of fast printing is windows's 32bit-64bit printing translator
In PS, if you hold the Z key and move the mouse/stylus left/right, it smoothly zooms in by small increments, and the zooming is centered on where your mouse is.
I know some will say that Draw shouldn't try to be PS or Illustrator, but this type of functionality is really nice, and it would be great to have something similar.
I have A and D mapped to zoom in/out but it seems like big zoom jumps and it's a little finicky to get the stuff on the screen you want to see at a high enough zoom level without having to use zoom tool and draw a box. To get, the positioning, I have pan once on S key, but getting a good zoom level is still a bit finicky.
Is there a way in CorelDRAW to zoom to the previous zoom position?
Is there a way to zoom to a preset zoom position?
In some previous versions, when I zoom In/Out with mouse-scroll it will zoom to mouse pointer and centre to the screen itself, but in Corel draw X5, the zoom function works properly but not center to screen the mouse-pointer and document.

I must have accidently changed some settings in CDX3 because now it prints too large--it won't even fit on the page. I've tried changing every print setting that relates...Fit to Page, etc. I also restarted corel while holding down the F8 key to reset the factory defaults. I've re-installed Corel 3 times! I'm at my wits end.

I am trying to generate A4 tiles of a large banner (13m x 3m).
In the layout mode, I can't seem to get the image size to be set at 100%. If I manually set the image size to 100% and click on apply, this drops back to 38%. 38% is the highest it seems accept.
Is this a limitation with CorelDraw? Is there a way around this?
I've inadvertently changed something that mades the import/export screen too large, and I can't click onto the open, save, etc. buttons on the bottom right. I've tried dragging the screen up to the top, but I still can get to those darn buttons!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am curious to know how other people create and produce vehicle graphics. I have had a tremendous amount of difficulty using CorelDRAW X5 for producing large vehicle graphics such as city busses and large tractor/trailer rigs and box trucks.
My basic workflow is to begin with a vehicle outline and actual measurements, create the full scale artwork, slice the art into 53" wide panels, and send to the printer RIP as PDF-X3.
For smaller projects this workflow works adequately, however, larger projects become such agonizing hassles I want to take up a new career. Due to the huge amount of lost time due to corrupt files, repeated crashes, software reinstalls, tedious work-arounds, etc. I feel I have no choice but to switch to a different software, most likely Adobe Illustrator.

For some reason, I can't use the wheel to zoom in or out. Just doesn't work. The drivers are installed, and the wheel works fine in all other applications, but absolutely refuses to cooperate in CorelDraw X6.2 (had this issue since CorelDraw 6).
I do not know why this function does not come by default in CoreDraw: "Center mouse when zooming with mouse wheel" From my point of view is much more accurate. The default option in recent versions is a mess when zooming with wheel. Is there a reason? There are some other features that you think have no reason to be?
