AutoCad :: Traffic Management Drawing - Street Signs And Cone Software

Jan 13, 2014

I am currently in the process of doing some traffic management drawings and need some road signs, but mainly im after some free cone software apparently. You can get some really good software, free if possible if not then the cheapest available. This is for autocad 2008.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Labeling Inlets In Street Profiles To Reflect Street Alignment Stationing?

How do I get the profile structure labels to reflect the stationing from the street alignments?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Detailing Chamfer On Cone In Drawing

Nov 22, 2013

We commonly weld two half cone sections together to make a complete cone. To show the weld prep i have modeled a chamfer on the cone edges.

When i try and show the chamfer on the drawing using a section I cannot dimension the angle as the surface is viewed as a curve by Inventor.

I have attached a drawing and part file showing the problem and showing the detail I would like (I've shown the detail using a simple sketch).

AutoCad :: Upload Drawing File To Space Management Application

Nov 17, 2011

GOAL - Upload drawing file to space management application.

Client providS me with a furniture plan and then a base plan to xreference it in.

I am getting a message box that reads: "Unreconciled New Layers"

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Client creates a layer state in the furniture plan to show only what the client needs to see once the drawing is in the space management application.
DOES BRINGING IN THE BASE PLAN AS AN XREF AFFECT THIS LAYER STATE?

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PATH TYPE TO CHOOSE (FULL, RELATIVE or NO) WHEN I GO TO INSERT THE XTREF?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERECEN BETWEEN ATTACH and OVERLAY?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Network Traffic For Section View Move?

May 8, 2012

I'm still having performance issues in 2012. Thought that going 64bit 8gb ram. It seems like anytime I do anything in C3D, network traffic is generated, and I'm dead in the water until the traffic terminates.

network traffic generated with moving a section view twice. While on the "plateau", I have a busy cursor. As soon as the traffic drops down, I can start working again. Why would moving a section view generate network traffic?

3ds Max :: Vissim Traffic Data And Civil View

May 26, 2011

I'm not 100% sure that this is the place to post this question, but support for Civil View is a bit sparse. I'm basically trying to import an FPZ file that someone has exported out of their Vissim file. I'm using the Civil View utility in Max Design 2012 and it works really well for the most part. When I get my vehicle data imported, the cars are too close together (overlapping by a lot). I double checked to make sure the file was being exported in feet and I have civil view (and max) set to feet. The cars blocks are sized correctly . . . they are just way to close to one another.

I thought I would try to set the civil view importer to meters (as it LOOKS like a units issue) but I can't seem to find that menu anymore. It used to open up when I opened up Max.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Color Management - Turning Off Printer Management?

Oct 19, 2011

read that color management pdf by gennady petrov and tried a few things he wrote. I turned off color management in the printer driver, chose corel to manage color, and the image default  profile sRGBxxxxx. picture was way dark and ugly. tried several other profiles and same dark picture. hmm that did not work so well.

went back to the printer driver and disabled no color management, and chose the profile Adobe RGB. still kept corel as manager and chose A RGB as the profile and the print looked spot on. Have not had problems printing from corel because I have come up with my own system, but was quite surprised at the result from turning off color management in the printer driver.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Details And Sections Signs In Model / Viewport Modes

Mar 13, 2013

Details and sections signs in model/viewport modes,

In steel structure drawings, it is very common to have cross sections at particular locations as well as having details at specific joint.

I’m wondering if there is a way to have automation for

Having a sign (circular or rectangular) on the original drawing to show what each viewport represents on the model space (attached). This feature is already available (for example) in the ArcGIS software, i.e, each viewports is indicated by a sign on the original map to show where we are in that viewport

Having a cross section sign that represents at which location the cross section is taken (attached)

I’m not talking here about 3D model. All what I want is to show what each viewport represent on the mother drawing and also to show where the cross section is taken.

AutoCad 3D :: Creating Street Surface Model?

May 25, 2012

I am trying to create a model of a city street surface using Autocad 2013. I think that perhaps the "network" surface command might work. Although the surface of a street looks simple, it is quite complex because of the need to drain the street of water. The corners are particularly difficult because the surface needs to be a continuous smooth curve while at the same time changing the direction of the surface slant.

I have attached a jpg of a model I created in Maya. I can export this to Autocad, but it is not particularly accurate and I need to create the model in Autocad at my job where they do not use Maya.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Dynamic Annotation - Street Names Over Polylines

Feb 21, 2012

I'd like to use dynamic annotation to get street names for a community based on US Census TIGER data. How to get the text rotated to be along the street centerlines.  What I've done is to take the TIGER edges, select the roads with assigned names and map imported them.  now when I define the annotation, I can use an expression for the rotation angle, but is there a way to extract the angle of a polyline in terms of first & last vertex (or even better, the angle at the midpoint)?

Otherwise, I'll manually rotate the affected labels, but it sure would be nice to automate things...

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Multiple Street Names For Single Alignment

Mar 7, 2012

I have a single street alignment that looks like an “n”. My issue is the west side of the “n” is named “Main Street” & the east side is named “First Ave” in the real world. Is there a way to have an alignment name from station 1+00 - 10+00 be different than 10+00 - 20+00 for automatic label purposes? I would rather not break the alignment since it one long continuous street & in some instances there is a vertical curve within the breakpoint. JUst need to figure out how to use automatic lables for naming street intersections.

Using C3D 2010 but curious on newer versions too.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Inlet Bypass And Street Section Modeling

Jun 27, 2012

We recently began experimenting with SSA and are trying to verify the inlet calculations that were done in excel to make sure we understand the software before putting it into everyday use. We've created a custom parabolic street section and applied it to the bypass links, and as far as that aspect goes, we understand it and it's all working great.

How to model inlets directly across from each other in a street section. The issues arise when the top width (of Inlet 1, in the attached graphic, for example) exceeds the half section width and flows over the crown into the opposite side of the street (to Inlet 2, in attached graphic).

We have tried weirs and flow diversions to no avail. Attached is an example of what I'm trying to explain. Inlets 1 and 2 are opposite from each other, and both connect into a MH labeled SD-J 29+33.00. Link-05 connects to the next downstream MH, and there are 2 links that follow the gutter lines to the North used as bypass links from Inlets 1 & 2.

Lightroom :: 4 Big Obnoxious Undo Redo Signs

Nov 22, 2012

Using ligntroom 4 from the cloud setup, is there any kind of setting I can use to defeat the big blotto sign that pops up just under center screen in "Develope" mode when you Ctrl-z (undo)/Ctrl-y(redo)?

When you have the image in single image view and so quite large, when in full screen, that UNDO thing pops up right in the most likely place you are carefully watching to see the changes. And it is absolutely huge, at least for something that is apparently meant to be a gentle reminder for the event where you didn't do it on purpose.

Maybe a small picky thing but I can think of no reason that sign needs to be so "In your face", why not down in a corner and in font many times smaller.

At any rate, what can I do to get rid of it or move it to a less obnoxious location?

AutoCad 3D :: Extend A Cone / Pyramid-like Object?

Sep 29, 2013

Assume that I have an odd pyramid 3D-solid say with a polygon basis that lies on a "floor". The apex was higher than the ceiling, so I "sliced" the pyramid to fit it right under the ceiling.

Now, I change my mind and want to make the ceiling slightly higher (say, 1"): after raising the ceiling I am left with a sliced pyramid that is cut 1"below the ceiling. Question is : what is the best way to re-extend the pyramid (and make it look like it was cut by the higher ceiling) ?

I cannot just "undo" because too many things happened in the meantime.

I can imagine re-creating the unsliced pyramid by press-pulling the upper sliced surface and then slice this extension with each side of the original sliced pyramid and ultimately re-slice with the new ceiling. Can I do better / faster than that ?

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. It has a 500GB HD, 4GB RAM, 16" screen and CorelDRAW X5 and Summa's WinPlot bridge software installed. Everything runs perfectly.

I want to be able to cut vinyl letters from my Summa D75R vinyl cutter and then to cut a different colored outline to be applied over the top of those letters. The letters themselves, that is, the main body of the letters, I can cut with no problem.

I know that I will have to separate the two elements and cut the letters from one file and the outlines from a different file. As an experiment I created a single word with a color. I then created an outline for that word. I deleted the body of the letter leaving only the outline.

I then did a "Convert to Curves" on the outline and imported the image into the WinPlot software that my Summa D75R vinyl cutter uses. I sent the image to the cutter but it cut it as a solid letter. It did not make a double-line cut as it would have to do to make the image an outline.
