I've a map of an area, which has more than 50 streets and I want to name the streets from the excel work sheet. The streets are polylines. I want to show the street names on the polylines.
View 9 RepliesI'd like to use dynamic annotation to get street names for a community based on US Census TIGER data. How to get the text rotated to be along the street centerlines. What I've done is to take the TIGER edges, select the roads with assigned names and map imported them. now when I define the annotation, I can use an expression for the rotation angle, but is there a way to extract the angle of a polyline in terms of first & last vertex (or even better, the angle at the midpoint)?
Otherwise, I'll manually rotate the affected labels, but it sure would be nice to automate things...

I have a single street alignment that looks like an “n”. My issue is the west side of the “n” is named “Main Street” & the east side is named “First Ave” in the real world. Is there a way to have an alignment name from station 1+00 - 10+00 be different than 10+00 - 20+00 for automatic label purposes? I would rather not break the alignment since it one long continuous street & in some instances there is a vertical curve within the breakpoint. JUst need to figure out how to use automatic lables for naming street intersections.
Using C3D 2010 but curious on newer versions too.
I've created a network of my stormsewer (which means the stormsewer lines are all on different streets) and added the inlets to my street profiles.
How do I get the profile structure labels to reflect the stationing from the street alignments?
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.

I am looking for a .Net code that can read each row cell and draw the polygons automatically in AutoCAD window. I am having a bout 100 rows (polygons) and hence I prefer that the code will display all polygons at once in AutoCAD window and not draw them one by one.
I am already having Autolisp code to draw them one by one but I wish to have a .Net code to allow batch polygons drawing instead.
I would like an VB application that from within autocad can open an excel file,from there select 2 columns containing x,y co-ordinates. Which when selected will draw a polyline in the acad drawing.
I usually do this the long way, but it seems I'm doing it more and more so would like to have it fairly automated.New to VBA and stuck at even opening the excel file....nevermind the actual selecting columns and drawing of the polyline!!!
I want to export the layers names to Excel, as I used in VBA. I'm using AutoCAD 2011 (64b), VB Express 2010, Office 2003 (32b). I ran this routine in XP 64b and W7 64 with the same problem.
No problem in building the DLL, or loading it to AutoCAD. When running the command, Excel opens, but no workbook is created and I get this Unhandled exception error:

I'm trying to create about 150 cross-sections, each consisting of 9 closed polylines of which I have created the coordinates. My issue is making the list of coordinates create separate polylines instead of one enormous polyline. Any way to setup the columns, perhaps with blank rows, some way of applying ASCII code, etc. to automatically break up these polylines? (even if they aren't closed that's fine, I just need to make the polylines separate.)

Am creating chapters in edit mode and adding chapter names. When I go to create mode I can find no-way to automatically populate the DVD menu with the pre-inputted names i created in edit mode. Assume this must be possible.
When saving tiff files in CS4, how can I have file names automatically created with ".tif" extension. Currently they are saved as non specific file types unless I include, or later add, ".tif" every time.

I re-scale the excel insert and get it right then update the sheet to get the new info and it shrinks back down. Now i thought at first it was the excel insert that was the problem, but now looking my layout seems to be extremely large and that's why the excel sheet is off. How can i take my existing layout and change it to fit 11x17. I really don't want to have to redraw the whole layout to make it fit 11x17.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've made a big calculation in a Pipe Stress Analysis program and the program has auto created 10 autocad drawings that is used to find points in the system.The problem is that the program has random numbered (with no intelligence) and now I have a big report which for example points at a number some where in the 10 drawings, which is hopeless to find.
Can I somehow:
1. Find all numbers in this drawing.
2. Put them into Excel.
3. Sort them after size.
4. Add an extra column which tells which drawing I can find the number.
5. Last put all the numbers from all the drawing into one Excel sheet and sort them after size, now I have a number index, so I can find which number is in which drawing.
Can Autocad find all numbers in a drawing and let me copy them to Excel for editing?
I want to link an excel sheet with a drawing, so changing the excel changes the drawing.
I used this awesome site to learn about going to Edit->Paste Special->Paste Link->AutoCAD Entities...but I don't have that choice. Just the one that makes the OLE image. While that will work, that is less than ideal. It appears in just normal paste, but not under paste link.

I´m having a couple of problems with getting data correctly from an Excel Sheet. I´m using the Excel Sheet to get Data for the Stock Number based on geometry.
First time the Excel File get´s opened it always cannot find the first sheet. I´m using a german Version and Sheet1 is Tabelle1 in german.
It always searches for sheet1 the first time the script runs on a new derived assembly. The second time (on second part) it correctly finds Tabelle1 and reads the correct value.Here is the code I´m using:

And there is another issue which I have solved already but still gives me a bit of a headache. When the userdefined property IdentNr gets written into the part it always defaults to a numerical value, which means that I always get a comma at the end of the Stock Number.

the format is correctly set to Text.I expected that when you read a value from an Excel Cell that the Format of the Cell gives the format of the user defined property. Is that not correct?
When i import points (csv) from my excel sheet into Civil 3D, i can't see the actual points on the display frame, but i can see that the points have been imported by looking at the prospector tab > Points.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have made a data link to an excel file. Then I bring it in as a table. I then adjust the text height and remove all formatting from the table. Unfortunately, after closing and re-opening the file, the table changes. I lose formating/cell alignment/text height. It isn't even consistent across the table. The lost formatting is only on the 2nd split of the table, the first side retains the corrected formatting. I have selected the option to not update excel formatting. I don't even get a notification the table is updating. There haven't been any changes to the excel sheet either....

When I create a model space view; then drag it on the sheet; shouldn't they be linked? I mean if I go into the View drawing, move the drawing in question, then update the model space view, shouldn't that update the sheet view automatically? Theoretically speaking of course; we are talking AutoCad.

Where does one find the Inventor Sheet Metal Rules excel table for 2012 on a Windows 7 system?
All the documentation says it's located in the Documents and Settings directory, but Windows Vista eliminated that folder and thus it is not in Win7 either.
I can find the SheetMetalRules.xml file, but I need the excel table for modification.
I would like to link a series of text lines in an autocad drawing to there corresponding fields in an excel sheet, I can not use tables in autocad because of the way other software uses the text in autocad. I have attached files of the text layout in acad and of the sheet in excel. One thing that keeps me from using tables in acad is that every line of text is on a different layer, with tables you can't control the layer of table its always on the current layer.

I managed to get them to be counted in cad but I'm not sure how to get the excel part to work.
Note: I posted an earlier post thinking to count the actually color in the excel cells rather than the words but that ended up being quite complicated.
