GOAL - Upload drawing file to space management application.
Client providS me with a furniture plan and then a base plan to xreference it in.
I am getting a message box that reads: "Unreconciled New Layers"
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Client creates a layer state in the furniture plan to show only what the client needs to see once the drawing is in the space management application.
DOES BRINGING IN THE BASE PLAN AS AN XREF AFFECT THIS LAYER STATE?
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PATH TYPE TO CHOOSE (FULL, RELATIVE or NO) WHEN I GO TO INSERT THE XTREF?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERECEN BETWEEN ATTACH and OVERLAY?

In 2012 Autocad, cannot change from model space to paper space, or paper space to model space without locking up in several drawings.

I can log into another user's computer and open the file fine. But when i use my computer or a brand new computer fitting all Auto CAD specs, it locks up. When I plot I have to reset my settings to the PTE standards every time.
I now get CAD errors when CAD is not even open. Also VTPSUHM barely works. I generally have to restart my computer several times to get it to work.

i was working on a building layout that included soil & waste and hot & cold water routes, some detail was needed at 1:100 and some 1:50. i can set up viewports in ps to display the correct layers ok but the model space view got more and more untidy, all text and dimensions are in model space too. if i froze a model space layer to improve things obviously i lost that layer in ps. in the end i copied the xref and did the water services separate. is there a way of tidying up the model space without losing any layers in ps?

I have some very serious problems when i am working in a big part with maximum features.
I get a message saying that:
The application has used up the maximum allowable disk space (1200 MB)
The second problem is:
The space in C: keeps increasing. I dont know how the space in C: increased even after having the ipt file in D:

I am having trouble scaling my drawing between model space and paper space. I have it drawn in model space at 1:1, and I set the viewport scale in paperspace to 1:15. However, it does not show up as 1:15. I have drawn a 50' line in model space. The viewport is 4" wide in paperspace, so you should be able to see the whole line in the viewport at a 1:15 scale, with some space on each side. However, it does not. I can only see a small fraction of the line.

Paper space was just introduced the last time I used AutoCAD professionally. I didn't become familiar with it and it seemed like an unfathomable concept then; at least from the way it was explained to me.
So I did some drawing for this guy all in paper space...that was what first opened up in AutoCAD. After five hours and getting ready to send the files, I realize that maybe I should a done it in model space. Is it really going to make that much of a difference? If he wanted me to redo it in model space .

I started using inventor when he started the job.  I have been using Inventor for about 3 years now.  My question is that I have always practiced good file management at every level of a project from single parts to large assemblies; however at this new job the file management is horrible, in the last 3 years the company has been through 13 different drafters, thus each drafter was saving files in different location and names making finding parts and assemblies a nightmare.
The problem I am having is that the lead designer is insisting that we implement vault, and that it will solve our problems, However I feel that we needed to develop a universal file and naming convention first, get  our file hierarchy in order before we try and implement vault. There will only be 2 of us accessing the cad files and I don't think that vault would even be a good fit for our work flow. Â

I've just got a new monitor and i have downloaded an ICC profile to use as i don't have calibration hardware yet. I've loaded it in Windows using color management. My question now is what color 'working space' i should set in Photoshop.
I must say that learning about color has been a steep learning curve for me so I have tried to avoid it as much as i can!!! If a total novice guide on color has been covered in another thread just point me there!

Most of the time when I close a drawing, particularly when I have two or more drawings open, the program closes down with the following message "Autocad Application has stopped working - Windows is collecting more information about the problem"

I'm a student and using an AutoCAD 2011 and Revit 2013 student version.
Can I upload my drawings that I created with student version to my website after I convert them to jpg?
(After saving the dwg file as pdf, I can convert this pdf file to jpg by using photoshop.)
I'm trying to make my website right now and I want to upload my CAD and Revit drawings.
I'm wondering if there are some kinds of restrictions when using student version autodesk programs.
That is, is it ok to use the drawings that I created with student version programs in public (in this case, website)?

My AutoCAD 2012 installation has been doing this for a while, but I don't remember it always doing this:
After I close a drawing (if it is the last drawing open), by using either the "close" command or by clicking the "x" on the window, instead of going to the generic gray-stripe background it just shows what the drawing looked like before close. This keeps messing with my head, as I think AutoCAD has just stopped responding.
If you look closely, though, you can see that the "AutoCAD" and "Autodesk" labels appear on the drawing, but I don't immediately notice this because my drawings are more complex than the sample drawing I've attached.

However, when I manually resize the application window (either by restoring or maximizing, or by draging the window edge, the application window refreshes to show the proper generic gray-stripe background.
System specifications: AutoCAD 2014 64-bit SP1, Windows 7 64-bit SP1, Intel Core i7-2600K, AMD FirePro V4900
16GB RAM, Crucial M4 SSD, 3 Dell Monitors (2 30" 2560x1600 & 1 20" 1200x1600)

read that color management pdf by gennady petrov and tried a few things he wrote. I turned off color management in the printer driver, chose corel to manage color, and the image default profile sRGBxxxxx. picture was way dark and ugly. tried several other profiles and same dark picture. hmm that did not work so well.
went back to the printer driver and disabled no color management, and chose the profile Adobe RGB. still kept corel as manager and chose A RGB as the profile and the print looked spot on. Have not had problems printing from corel because I have come up with my own system, but was quite surprised at the result from turning off color management in the printer driver.

I have collected hundreds of photos of family friends vacations etc. This is taking a lot of storage space on my hard drive. I think what I would like is to copy groups of photos to a CD for storage but then the problems is how to know what is on the disk? How do you manage your files?

I am issues with DEM files that I am downloading from the USGS website.I download 24k, elevation for the area I need. I then choose staged 1 second, add a surface to a blank drawing, then upload the DEM files to the surface.
The surface imports correcty, but when I try to import points taken by a surveyor on the same drawing, they plot incorrectly.The DEM surface and the points from the surveyor do not correspond. Also, the DEM surface is in meters, not feet. I have tried changing drawing settings, datum types, coordinate types, etc.

How to manage files and projects in VideoStudio X4 properly? When I create a new project, all the old libraries pop up --if I archive the files, it goes through and attempts to relink all the older project files, forcing me to sit there and hit "don't relink" for every file (which involves hundreds of files). Now suppose I go through all of this, start with clean libraries, and build a new project --but a month later, I need to open an old project and make some tweaks to it. Since the libraries are empty, when I go to open the old project, it wants to relink all the files again.
This total lack of file and project management is really maddening --couldn't the libraries be included as part of the project? I understand the original files can't be, but at least include a library collection in with the project information, so you don't end up unable to archive older material you're not currently using (forever), unless you want to risk blowing up any possibility of ever opening that project again (forever).
Or is there some way to create a project with a clean set of libraries, and then reload a set of libraries later on?

I have made the .NET application with class library which provide us Application DLL file which will used to do our customization.
Once I have loaded my DLL and after that if I make change any thing in the Code and than I rebuilt it, I am getting the following error message:
Error   15   Unable to copy file "objReleaseSemiAuto.dll" to "binReleaseTest.dll".

I am developing a web app ASP.NET MVC 3, which will read the properties files of Inventor (dwg, idw, ipt, iam). Read the properties of these files is by using objects Apprentice Server, which provides Autodesk Inventor View 2012. Connection objects is done through the library RxApprentice.tlb.

I have an architects drawing that was sent to me as a DWG and I am trying to save it as a R12 DXF for uploading to a pocketGIS application on a PDA.
When I try to save the file I get an pop up message that reads "This drawing contains custom objects that are not supported in previous versions. These objects cannot be saved to a previous version etc. etc." When I close this message the drawing saves anyway. However when I try to open it as a DXF in Autocad 2010 I get the following error message "Unloadable shape/text file
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded." and needless to say I am unable to load it on the PDA.

After setting the Application Options-File tab paths to our company standard and manually restarting IV the paths all revert to "%PUBLIC DOCUMENTS % default paths. Our IT guy is having the hardest time tracking down the root cause, Both users are on stand alone licenses.
1. Where does IV pick up these default file paths? Can I modify that .xml manually as a workaround?
2. How to identify the folders to look for that don't have adequate red-write permissions?
