View 18 RepliesI want to crop an image and make the edges round instead of square. Do I do this with a mask? Can't figure out how to use a mask. I went to Mask Outline->Smooth and it cut the image out and left the round edges.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've started drawing -modelling- with AutoCAD.
- I can create flat, curved objects,
- I know how to round-up / smoothen the edges
- Played around with Extrude, Presspull commands
- Create a template file with auto-filled fields in it and with the use of Attributes.
- etc.
Now I want to go to a next level..I've taken a picture of a Versamount which I want to model / draw in AutoCad: This poses at least the following challenges:
-There is some depth in it!
- More curves than my other drawings
My first question would be; is this a good practice or not and how to get started? My thought would be to create a flat surface in about roughly the same outer diameters as the Versamount.
I'm trying to put an arrow into my picture, but all the edges/corners are rounded. How do I sharpen them? I figured I could use live trace for this, but that didn't work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to figure out if there is a more efficient way of doing this for some time. It seems so basic but it always comes to play in my smoothing process.
For all you more experienced modelers, what is the best way to have the edges and corners stay at their 90 degree angles when smoothing while not compromising the roundness of the surface with artifacting or pinching in the corners. I find this problem when creating extrudes with sharp corners on curved/ round surfaces then smoothing them.

Using PS7 and the round edge rectangle tool...is there an easy way to save the "selection" as a round edge image?
is there a way to place the rounded corner selection onto a transparent canvas ?
I do not have the time or skills to attempt this without the round edge tool.
I have two cylinders that are at a right angle to each other and was wondering how to create a fin to "wrap" around the round edge and then intersect with the flat side of the other cylinder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue where in a part model with the view set to "wireframe with hidden edges" the edges and hidden edges disappear when you try to zoom in on the part. Actually not working with "wireframe and visible edges only" at any zoom level either.
The edges are there and I know that there are features that should be showing up as hidden.
Running Quadro FX 3800 with the most current drivers, and I only noticed this when switching to IV 2014.
Also running IV Build 222 SP 1
This is making designing very hard as I can't tell anymore where there are instances of features interfering with each other.

I have observed an unexpected behavior of mouse wheel zooming in CS3:
using the mouse wheel: when i zoom in (very closely) to some location near the image edges/corners and then zoom out /once/ (i.e. one mouse wheel "click"), the image zooms out and simultaneously the viewed region jumps a little towards the image center. this is kind of annoying since one has to move the image to see the desired location after zooming out a little.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Zoom Extents, my map becomes a tiny dot near the edge of model space. This happens will all of my drawings and they are not "zooming" to the same area in model space. One might be a tiny dot hidden in the left corner under the geomarker and the next might be in the upper right corner 1/4" in size.

I created a Photoshop document, and selected the Ellipse Shape Tool. On the Tool Options Bar I selected "Shape Layer" I drew an ellipse, and a new Shape Layer was created. I then used the Zoom tool to zoom in on the edge of the shape. The path that defines the edge was a thin, sharp line. But the color at the edge of the shape has a pixelated, chunky look.
Why isn't the color at the edge just as sharp as the path? Since the shape's edge is defined by a vector, I would have thought the color's edge would be sharp, not pixelated.
I have an image of a room, and I want to add the ability to click different parts to zoom in (by scaling up background image) and have the relevant information appear. I don't know if the best way is to have all the "camera zooms" and information on one timeline (have to manually animate everything dissapearing, fiddly), or to separate them into symbols and call them up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with Refine Edge. I like to often add a slightly feathered edge to my masks. I figured recording an action of using Refine Edge would give me a quick way to do that to prevent harsh-edged selections. Well, RF gives me a soft edge, but also adds sort of an aliasing to it as well, which of course I don't want. get smooth edges using RF? Below shows an example.
