I have drawn up a roof plan and want to section it off in big areas. Is it possible to draw a rectangle 48'x200' and have that shape fill the entire roof as close as possible. Basically i need my roof hatched w/ a 48'x200' rectangle.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Material Definition for my Roof Object. I prefer to keep it a Roof Object instead of breaking it into slabs. See Display Properties image for settings. I have Surface Hatch turned on.
Model views show the hatch correctly.
Elevation views show the hatch correctly.
Plan views do not show the surface hatch at all.
How can I get the surface hatch to show in plan? I have tried changing the cut plan height. It seems I am making something more complicated than it should be.
I am trying to make a typical column and row line layout for a roof plan. I know in acad architecture this is very easy. I am using regular 2011. I went to one of the preset palettes and saw a detail grid. What is that even used for? I basically draw them out at this point in a template.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating a plan of an existing flat roof. The building is rectangular but has a large notch on one long side so the plan is kind of u-shaped. The slope is to the center with a single valley. When I put a split line down the middle it creates plans and valleys to the sides of the notch. How can I eliminate these planes? The entire north half slopes to the center. When I set the sides to "define slope" I get "slab edit failed" message.
Note, the south hatched section is a mansard style clay tile roof. There are parapets at the corners that wrap into the roof. How to I notch the sloped roof?
I need to calculate area of the roof created in 3d autocad 2009 using the command edge mesh.
I cant convert it to solid or anything else. This roof if created using 4 arcs joint together in 3d environment and with command edge mesh.
Is there a way to get roof beams/windows/etc to show as dash-dot in floor plan without having to make changes in every family or for every new object?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to verify the actual area of a floor plan however when I "list" the polyline of the floor plan, I am getting two different figure when opened in Autocad 2012 and LT 2011. For instance, the area calculated in autocad 2012 is 900sqm vs LT 2011 is 850sqm.
It is only for this particular file that has this discrepancy. Other files I have tried gave the same area between the two versions. We have the setting setup as the same in terms of units etc.
I attached a photo of the project i am working on. Im trying to figure out how to create the roof on the left hand side of the taller area. It should be a arched roof just like the others except it is also rounded.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have no background with AutoCAD 2013, but my boss has given me the software and tasked me with taking entire floor plans of an individual floor .dwg and create smaller areas of each floor into separate, new .dwg's (like several rooms together) that then could be converted into .pdf's for sharing and/or printing. I have tried to find a simple tutorial or explaination of how to do this, but AutoCAD is such an amazing and complex tool that I'm having trouble with the terminology even.
I was right-clicking on the 'Model' tab to create a 'New Layout', right-clicking that to get to 'Page Set-Up Manager' and 'Modifying that to select 11 x 17, Landscape, and 'Adobe PDF' in the Printer dialog box. When I worked in the new Layout window sometimes I could zoom in to a section of the floorplan and then go to 'A' button in the upper left corner and select 'Print' and sometimes the resulting .PDF file would be that smaller section, and sometimes it would still just be the whole floorplan.
I've got an issue where changing the color in one area plan scheme (future/left) removes the scheme legend from a completely separate area plan (existing/right). Attached are the screen shots of what I'm describing. This only happens when we change any of the colors in the future/right-hand scheme. All we have to do to get the scheme back on the other area plan is to click on the blank box, edit and reassign the correct scheme (the only one on the list), but had we not caught this, we would have published these without the colors on the one plan, so that's problematic. I'm wondering why--perhaps a glitch or something?
This happens in multiple users' programs.
I've created an area plan of my existing building and coloured the areas using a Legend based on the area name.
I now want to do the same on the 'Proposed' Area plan, showing the new areas in the general plan ignoring the existing walls, but when I colour the areas the walls show through the solid colours, is there any way I can get the areas to cover up the walls on this plan - something line draw order.
I know you can select the area, and change the Colour Scheme Location to foreground or background - but the walls always show through...

2. In section 2, the first floor walls ends in 90 degrees angle at the roof. Can the walls be edited so that the joint line with the roof follow the roof slope?

I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've recently migrated from AutoCAD 2008 (non-industry specific) to AutoCAD 2010 so I don't know if this was an issue in 2009.
Back in 2008, when I choose the 'window' option when specifying a plot area, AutoCAD would show the workspace so that I could manually select a windowed plot area, and at the same time the whole workspace would be greyed out except the previously active window area.
This was handy, because we can have as many two dozen title-blocks (and therefore separate viewports) in paperspace, and knowing what plot area I last plotted or added as a saved page setup.
In 2010, it no longer does that. I now have to rely on the dashed border to know where the active plot area is/was (checked 'display printable area' in options>display tab) which I personally don't really like using.
How to changes the settings for the "Square Area" in mapcheck's closure summary. When I right-click the dwg name in the Settings tab of Toolspace and choose Edit Drawing Settings, then Ambient Settings, I see the Area settings, but in the closure summary, there is also "Square Area". Why are these both there? It WOULD be nice to show sq. ft. as well as acres, but I can't find anywhere to edit it.

I want to know if there is an easier ACAD solution for drawing. In the given triangle of ABC (sides and angels are known) I want to draw line CM so that the area of BCM becomes 2000 cm (are of ABC is 5311.7 cm3).
Is there an easy ACAD way for drawing this line without using trigonometry for calculation?
I need to determine whether an area intersects with another area.The left case can be easily determined by Polyline.IntersectWith(Polyline...).But in the right case, the two polygons intersect/overlap each other while polylines do not intersect.
What would be the efficient way to determine the right case polygons are intersecting polygons?
