View 9 RepliesI've never used AutoCAD before but I'm trying to make a site plan. I attached a picture of the property I'm trying to make a site plan of. Basically, it's a building that 59' by 92' that has a fenced in yard that is roughly a rectangle. I'd like to fit the site plan on regular 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. I know how to draw lines but don't know how to make them the right lengths. It doesn't need to be perfect with angles but I'd like to make it look nice with like a border and titles and such. I've been trying to read up on how to do it but I just get overwhelmed.

Regarding the use of the 360 mobile app:
I am a site planner/landscape architect in need of displaying autocad site plans on my ipad / iphone. This is possible through 360, but the limit on file size and xrefs is not allowing me to get all of my info viewable. Also, I am in need of inserting aerial imagery so that I may be able to track my location on site via GPS.
I received a site plan for my house in an unknown scale. It is in 1'=100' scale printed on 24x36, but for some reason I cannot work with it in AutoCAD 2009. I'm trying to place my 1'=30' scale house on the site plan, but the house is ending up gigantic and not to scale. TutorCAD.dwg
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have drawn up a roof plan and want to section it off in big areas. Is it possible to draw a rectangle 48'x200' and have that shape fill the entire roof as close as possible. Basically i need my roof hatched w/ a 48'x200' rectangle.
View 5 Replies View Relateda civil engineer sent us a .dwg file for a site survey. However, the .dwg contours are just showing up as a series of overlapping rectangles. He attached two .txt files, one for elevation point locations, the other for tree locations. Both give coordinates... i.e. :452,2718.7202,2509.7896,569.4979,GL etc. I know that the .txt file is giving locations, but I do not know how to generate plines etc. from the given coordinates in the .txt file. I downloaded ascponit.lsp, but i'm not sure if this is meant for this...
I'm using AutoCAD 2008.
how to use Civil 3D to create a grading plan for a solar PV site or a golf course?
Here is the situation. We have a large 100 acre site that is not flat. We want to do minimal grading to "smooth out the surface". So that maximum slope on the site is 10%. The site does not have to be graded completely flat. We are trying to work with the existing contours and terrain as much as possible.
Is there some functiion or some way for Civil 3D to "smooth out a surface"? We want to work with the existing slopes and contours of the site and just need a grading plan that will smooth out mounds, holes, or high slope areas.
I have a finished 2D autocad drawing but I want to use the proposed elevations and change the ones in the google maps import.Does Civil 3D have it built in?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Material Definition for my Roof Object. I prefer to keep it a Roof Object instead of breaking it into slabs. See Display Properties image for settings. I have Surface Hatch turned on.
Model views show the hatch correctly.
Elevation views show the hatch correctly.
Plan views do not show the surface hatch at all.
How can I get the surface hatch to show in plan? I have tried changing the cut plan height. It seems I am making something more complicated than it should be.
I am trying to make a typical column and row line layout for a roof plan. I know in acad architecture this is very easy. I am using regular 2011. I went to one of the preset palettes and saw a detail grid. What is that even used for? I basically draw them out at this point in a template.

I'm having an issue with JPG attachments. In this case, we are attaching a reference civil site plan drawing. The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a plan of an existing flat roof. The building is rectangular but has a large notch on one long side so the plan is kind of u-shaped. The slope is to the center with a single valley. When I put a split line down the middle it creates plans and valleys to the sides of the notch. How can I eliminate these planes? The entire north half slopes to the center. When I set the sides to "define slope" I get "slab edit failed" message.
Note, the south hatched section is a mansard style clay tile roof. There are parapets at the corners that wrap into the roof. How to I notch the sloped roof?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe website is run on WordPress, and so I did not design the site in Xara. However, I designed the graphics. I had them all in one Xara file. Today, I wanted to add more mouseovers. You can see the ones I have by hovering over the right-hand side of the page. There were 5 or so pages in the file with a variety of ideas and small graphics that I exported to png files and uploaded to the site.
When I opened the file, it had only 1 blank page. I was horrified. I noticed that the latest and greatest Xara is a bit quirky, compared to the previous 2 versions.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy company had always used LDD until we were mandated to switch, our first project in Civil 3D is in the works. So far we have gotten through the beginning stages (alignments, profile, corridor, assemblies) but we are having a major issue with where to go from there. Right now I am trying to complete the design line work on the plan (wheelchair ramps, driveways transitions and signage) As of now I cannot get anything to line up easily with the corridor. I have been able to snap to the corridor so I can create a line at that exact spot to be correct, but then when I offset it will not change the elevation, I tried doing feature line and projecting the feature lines to the surface and some of it works but it becomes very buggy. My transition lines don't transition and some other lines I would expect to be at the same elevation have major grade changes. How to create the luinework at the correct elevation and with correct transisions along your corridor and surface?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to delete a design option that we created in order to alleviate model creation conflicts. We were testing whether it was to be a sub-category design option or a main heading, so I just modeled a couple things (in a floor plan that was created months ago in another design option) to try and get them to show up. When I realized that sub-category was not the way to go, I tried to delete that design option and it removed the floor plan I was using.
I examined the "Visible in Option" line and it has the name of an option that I'm not deleting, so....? Now what? I just want to clean up my model and remove that test design option.
