I received a site plan for my house in an unknown scale. It is in 1'=100' scale printed on 24x36, but for some reason I cannot work with it in AutoCAD 2009. I'm trying to place my 1'=30' scale house on the site plan, but the house is ending up gigantic and not to scale. TutorCAD.dwg
View 9 RepliesI've never used AutoCAD before but I'm trying to make a site plan. I attached a picture of the property I'm trying to make a site plan of. Basically, it's a building that 59' by 92' that has a fenced in yard that is roughly a rectangle. I'd like to fit the site plan on regular 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. I know how to draw lines but don't know how to make them the right lengths. It doesn't need to be perfect with angles but I'd like to make it look nice with like a border and titles and such. I've been trying to read up on how to do it but I just get overwhelmed.

This is possible through 360, but the limit on file size and xrefs is not allowing me to get all of my info viewable. a civil engineer sent us a .dwg file for a site survey. However, the .dwg contours are just showing up as a series of overlapping rectangles. He attached two .txt files, one for elevation point locations, the other for tree locations. Both give coordinates... i.e. :452,2718.7202,2509.7896,569.4979,GL etc. I know that the .txt file is giving locations, but I do not know how to generate plines etc. from the given coordinates in the .txt file. I downloaded ascponit.lsp, but i'm not sure if this is meant for this...

how to use Civil 3D to create a grading plan for a solar PV site or a golf course?
Here is the situation. We have a large 100 acre site that is not flat. We want to do minimal grading to "smooth out the surface". So that maximum slope on the site is 10%. The site does not have to be graded completely flat. We are trying to work with the existing contours and terrain as much as possible.
Is there some functiion or some way for Civil 3D to "smooth out a surface"? We want to work with the existing slopes and contours of the site and just need a grading plan that will smooth out mounds, holes, or high slope areas.
I have a finished 2D autocad drawing but I want to use the proposed elevations and change the ones in the google maps import.Does Civil 3D have it built in?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a floor plan with a very long footprint in a "View" drawn at a convenient scale.
The long building had to be broken to be put on several different "Sheets", and each of the floor plans on each of the sheet has a scale.
When I change the scale of the partial plan on one "Sheet", all the other sheets also change to the same scale and also the original view changes to the new scale.
Is there a way to assign the desired scale of the plan on one sheet without affecting the scale on the other sheets and on the original drawing view?
by default revit shows roof plan in the Site plan view.

I'm having an issue with JPG attachments. In this case, we are attaching a reference civil site plan drawing. The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?

View 9 Replies View RelatedQuestion #1: To my Sections Sheet, I am adding a Key Plan of each floor to show where the sections are cut. I duplicated a plan of each floor and renamed it "Floor # - Key Plan", and added the view to the Sections Sheet at a small scale, and now I am using a 1" = 80'-" scale for these key plans. I am able to hide all the unwanted annotations elements, but I notice that some like the "UP" and "DN" of stairs, which are very large, do not go away without erasing the stairs also.
How can I leave the stairs at this small scale but without the associated annotation?
(I also notice that this happens with elements like Washer (W), the Water Heater (WH), etc).
Question # 2. Related question: Do Revit has a "Key Plan" creation fuction to automate this work?

The back is n87d58'41"E with a length of 113.21. The east side is N25d53'25"E with a length of 118.29'. The front of the house has the arc and all it says is curve 18. I have the three sides but don't know how to get the front. The information on the curve is:

Ex: A brick home. How many bricks will be used once dimensions are complete.
I am trying to recreate the remains of a viking house that was discovered during excavations in the center of Dublin. I want to recreate the conditions of the house from when it was found. A part of this would be to create the 'wattled walls.
How to create this wattling - should I be using the pipe or tube method? If so, is there a quick command for tubes/pipes that weave around each other? I have attached a pdf of the plan of one of these houses.
What type of line are you using to show electrical wiring in a house, I've used the arc line and I really don't like the flexibility of that, it want bend like I want it to. The next thing I'm trying now is to use a leader line without arrows, that works better, you can bend that little rascal all over the place.

I went to the library and took out a tutorial on autocad 3D drawing. After 8 hours all I can draw is a stupid birdhouse with no hole for the bird to go in. I am not stupid and I am good with computers, so I figure that I am completely missing something here.
Is there not some way for me to take my plan and elevations and just put them together like one would a paper model?
Is there not some quick and easy way to mock up parts of houses?
I am just a homeowner, and I don't want to pay an architect to do this for me. Maybe I am using the wrong tool? Maybe I need Autocad Architecture? Maybe some other product? I am very frustrated.
So here is my challenge to all of you: assume that your dad or your friend wants to build a deck for his house, and he wants to model it in 3D to see what it will look like. He has never done anything in 3D in AutoCAD, but he can draw 2D drawings. He has exactly 8 hours to learn whatever tool he needs, AND, to produce the 3D drawing.
Note: a simple wireframe drawing is fine, I can color the thing with pencil crayons or whatever after if I need to.
I have a 2d drawing of the front view of a house. I would like to make it into a watercolor presentation using autocad. I have tried making polyline boundries and filling in different colors with solid hatch, but it is to opaque and covers up all the architectural details. Is there a way to change the color to transparent? Is there a "watercolor" hatch available. I have tried using a dot hatch pattern, but not quote what I'm looking for.

I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command.
