AutoCad 3D :: Change Setting To Make Walls And Roof To Being Cut Using Sectionplane Command
Apr 5, 2012I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012.
I built some walls and a roof slab using the wall, door, and roof slab tools in the build section of the ribbon. I drew a section plane and activated live section. The walls and roof did not cut away and they do not show up when i use the sectionplanetoblock command.
Is there a setting I need to change to make the walls and roof susceptible to being cut using the sectionplane command?

Feb 4, 2013I've made a few roof hosted families, and they've all been fine in the past. For some reason, with this one, when you load it into a project it appears to be one 'ref level' too high for the roof host, hence revit errors, displaying that it can't cut the roof void.

Oct 7, 2013I am working in AutoCAD MEP 2011 building a 3d model of a room that has a significant amount of piping in it. I've got the piping finished and have recieved .sat files for the pumps from the manufacturer. When I insert them via ACISIN, they cause significant hesitation in the program. I need to be able to move smoothly through the model for client presentation.
Any good way to reduce the complexity of the pump model without affecting the look of it? In other words, I really only need the shell of the pump to set in place. I did try a conversion to a mass element and then to a 3d solid but it had little effect.

Dec 22, 2013I'm trying to make some 3d spline gears in autocad, I start by generating them in eMachineshop then importing into autocad, this works fine but the gear is imported as seperat lines so I can't extrude them, i also cant join the lines because after zooming in there are quite a few gaps. How I can join the lines together without manually connecting the dots? I'll include a copy of the gear, eMachineshop only outputs dxf files as far as i know.

I have found Bullzip PDF which expoerts out a great copy that a customer is able to look at without having to zoom in on the pdf. But the issue with this program is you can put them in one file but it is very tedious. Is there a way to make the AutoCAD pdf export any clearer without having to zoom in on the PDF to read for example dimensions.

I’m wondering if there is a way to create an attribute block that contains the particular text and the value of the dimension length. More specifically, in the screenshot below in need to show the steel bars (as an attribute) along with the value of the dimension of the bar such that in case the block is stretched then the value of the dimension length changes. I think the block itself needs to be dynamic.
The issue here is having an attribute for the “steel bar type” and its length. The “steel bar type” must be editable while the length must be written automatically to reflect the length of the bar.

Jul 19, 2012I am trying to figure out how I can make a block that will show up in a dwf file but not in a pdf file. We issue dwf files with a "Not For Construction" note on them. To print our drawings in house we generate a pdf file. That note should not show up on our hard copies.
