View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with a tolerance issue when trying to create room area calculations in Revit. There seems to be a tolerance that is set to somewhere under 9" if two walls are to close together it will ignore the area.
Although if you are using the area calculation this tolerance is set much finer. and it seems to work just fine. I have already tried to create a multicategory schedule but cant combine rooms and areas. I have attached an image .
I have one room on a plan whose color fill will not appear, while all of the others do. I have tried deleting the room and adding a new one to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an issue where changing the color in one area plan scheme (future/left) removes the scheme legend from a completely separate area plan (existing/right). Attached are the screen shots of what I'm describing. This only happens when we change any of the colors in the future/right-hand scheme. All we have to do to get the scheme back on the other area plan is to click on the blank box, edit and reassign the correct scheme (the only one on the list), but had we not caught this, we would have published these without the colors on the one plan, so that's problematic. I'm wondering why--perhaps a glitch or something?
This happens in multiple users' programs.
I've created an area plan of my existing building and coloured the areas using a Legend based on the area name.
I now want to do the same on the 'Proposed' Area plan, showing the new areas in the general plan ignoring the existing walls, but when I colour the areas the walls show through the solid colours, is there any way I can get the areas to cover up the walls on this plan - something line draw order.
I know you can select the area, and change the Colour Scheme Location to foreground or background - but the walls always show through...
Why am I getting different dimensions and locations in plan and section views for stairs?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just created a simple winodw family. I don't understand it looks fine in the reference level within the family.
But once I placed it in the project, it only shows the top mullion, I had to delete the top mullion within the family to make the plan view look right. What's the reason of it?
i have just started using revit. i imported a 3d dwg file into generic model family and loaded into my project.for some reason, the model shows in section, elevation and last level of my floor plan and site plan as well, but it is not showing in my 1st to 2nd last floor plan. can some people tell what are to possible reason for this?how can i get it show show in the plans?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently looking into switching from Vectorworks to Revit due to a job application I'm being offered. What I really want to know is if the following floor plan is possible to make in Revit. I just want floor plans to be with color to better show the different things on it and make them more clear.
I also want to know if it is possible to show symbols in a plan view other than just a rendered hidden line view of the 3D part of it, so I can have a simplified version for the plan view and a detailed object for the 3D. Like you have a 2D-plan component for the plan views and e 3D component for all other views.
Somehow today all the doors and cased openings dissapeared in my first floor plan.
They show up in the 3d views, sections, and second floor plan, but not in the first. I have checked the visibilty settings, and they are all checked and correct, and I have checked the height of my floor cut, which is adequately at 4 feet high. Additionally, if I make the detail level "fine" then the casings will show up around the wall but the wall will not show the door cut. The doors show up in a previous version of the model, so I'm not sure what has happened to cause the dissapearance.
I've created custom railing terminations and applied them to a handrail. They appear in every view extept plan. Railing extensions show fine. Railing Terminations don't. I am including screenshots & the families. Visibility is on for all views and all detail levels. Linetype is set to solid in Object Styles and VG. View Range is fine. Cut plane is way above the railing and bottom is unlimited.
The weird thing is that the extenstions appear in blue when the railing is selected. But they dissappear otherwise.
What is the difference between rooms and areas? Why create an area schedule off 'areas' as opposed to using 'room' areas? Can you create a schedule off room areas?

Is it possible to show site plan that one line would represent building contour? Also is it possible to cast shadows of all the building if the first floor is selected?
i was trying to make site plan from the fist floor, but since i gave intense topography ground is being cut and i need full topography. i am using 2013 revit.
I have a project in wich rooms functionality is compromised. I don't know why the room tool doesn't recognise a simple room delimited by walls whose property divides rooms is set to yes. If I place a rectangle of rooms delimiters the room tool works properly instead. If I start a new project the tool works properly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Revit 2014. My temporary dimensions do not show. When they do, they only show on one side. I have gone to Manage>Additional Settings>Temporary Dimensions, and tried the different options. It is making it very difficult to place things right now. Is there an all on button I can push? I have also tried closing and re-opening the file, turning off the computer, etc. They were available for use yesterday morning and have not worked since.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe window type showed up in the window schedule. But the window dimension didn't.
What's the reason of it? I know you can enter the dimension directly into the schedule. But it would be nice if it comes it automatically. See attached file.
Is there any way to turn on the information ,which can be obtained from schedules, on properties palette? For example, the length for the structural columns can be seen on the schedule created. However, it is not seen on the properties palette. How can I show that information on properties palette under dimensions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I show high level walkways and balconies (in dashed outline) on the ground floor plan in a high volume space?
Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?). Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.
I have created room tags and would like to use the floor plan (with room names) as Xref. Is there a way I can locate the room names in one location per room on the main floor plan and then relocate the room names on the reflected ceiling plan and NOT move the room name on the main floor plan?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know how to create a block and all that is fine, but looking for detailed simple lesson on how to create a Attribute. ( I guess thats what they are called). For instance, drawing a floor plan with different room names and etc, I know there is a way to make a circle or polygon, or square and then when it is inserted in the drawing, you just have to type the new name of the room, or the window symbol, or door number and etc.
By the way, I am using a student version of AutoCAD 2010. Also, if you could also add the keyboard shortcut alias's too would be a great deal.
I am working in a project where I need to represent the reflecting ceiling edges in the plan view. I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. I have done every thing possible with the view range but I don't see the lines.
