Revit :: How To Show Information On Properties Palette Under Dimensions

Jul 25, 2013

Is there any way to turn on the information ,which can be obtained from schedules, on properties palette? For example, the length for the structural columns can be seen on the schedule created. However, it is not seen on the properties palette. How can I show that information on properties palette under dimensions?

AutoCAD 2010 :: User Supplied Text In Dimensions From Properties Palette

Mar 7, 2012

The help file for user-supllied text added to dimensions says, "To add user text above and below the dimension line, use the separator symbol X. Text that precedes this symbol is aligned with and above the dimension line. Text that follows the X symbol is aligned with and below the dimension line."

How do I get the same effect from the dimension Properties Palette later?  Would I have to re-create a dimension to do this in another session?  I need text below the dimension on a new line, and have not been able to do it using the Suffix field in the Properties.  Adding text there only appends it on the same line. (Or, am I missing a trick here?).

Revit :: Properties Palette Has Changed

Jan 30, 2014

When I open a project or family file (new or old) the properties palette is not the one I am used to seeing. Usually one can view sheets, 3D views, and elevations in a project file and (while I have located some of these options in the tool bar) they are not located conveniently on the properties palette as usual. When I open a family file, I can usually go to different elevations and create extrusions/model from different views. There is currently no option for viewing different elevations and when I go to toggle in a 3D view I can't go back to the reference plan (the only view I can model in). Attached are images of what I currently see as my properties palette. If there is a way to get the normal one back,

Revit :: Temporary Dimensions Do Not Show?

Nov 5, 2013

I am using Revit 2014.  My temporary dimensions do not show.  When they do, they only show on one side.  I have gone to Manage>Additional Settings>Temporary Dimensions, and tried the different options.  It is making it very difficult to place things right now.  Is there an all on button I can push?  I have also tried closing and re-opening the file, turning off the computer, etc.  They were available for use yesterday morning and have not worked since.

What's the reason of it?  I know you can enter the dimension directly into the schedule.  But it would be nice if it comes it automatically.  See attached file.

I've attached a couple of images for reference.  I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.

AutoCad 2D :: How To Get Geometry Information In Properties

Apr 26, 2011

once I've set an origin, how do you get the geometry info in the properties to show the coordinates from that origin? what I want to do is set an origin and then find relative points from that origin. What are the ways to do this? On ProgeCad I would just set an origin and then if I viewed the properties of say a circle, it would tell me the x,y,z coordinates from that origin but I can't seem to do it in AutoCad.

As you can see from the picture, what I did was set an origin at the on point. Then I selected the arc for which I want to know the coordinates. But as you can see in the properties it says the x,y are like 566,567mm, but clearly if I draw lines to that point and measure the lines it is only like 1.00,0.70mm.

AutoCad :: How To Synchronize Information Between Properties Window

Sep 25, 2012

I have a problem with attribute values. After I insert block inside drawing and see properties window all attributes with its values are there (attributes are not set as constant). When I try to change any information from this properties window, everything looks fine but when I go to block editor and check the attribute values there I see that they has not been changed. When I try to generate/extract this values from the drawing they are still old. Is there any way how to synchronyze this information between properties window and values which are in block editor? Or did I do something wrong?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Edit Properties Of Parcel In Information And Description?

Sep 25, 2013

I have tried to edit the Properies of Parcel in Information and Description by using the following 2 methods:

Method #1: I started with Settings in Toolspace => work on Parcel Style and Label Style for setting up the desired data I want to input. Then I went to Prospector in Toolspace => Sites => Site 1 => Parcels => Property : 1 for editing the desired data.

Method #2: On the drawing area, I selected the created Parcel object by clicking on the Property : 1 to get the Properties tab. Then I edited the Information - Style, Parcel Area Label Style, Name. I went to Prospector => Sites => Site 1 => Parcels => Property : 1 => Information - Descrition for adding the desired data.

My questions:

Q1.  Did Method #2 change any thing in the Settings in Toolspace?

Q2.  What is advantage in each Method?

Q3. In the Settings for Method #1, I saw the following items:

Parcel

User-Pefined Property Classifications

Parcel Styles

Label Styles

Table Styles

Commands

What are User-Defined Property Classifications, Table Styles, and Commends for?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2013 - Editing Properties Of Parcel In Information And Description

Sep 24, 2013

In the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project, I just created a parcel manually - see the first attched file. It had "Property : 1" on the original DWG, when I created.

I selected this parcel => Properties tab =>Information =>Style:Create/Edit=>Parcel Styleroperty=>Design=>Parcel name template=> Name Template/ Name: <[Parcel Style Name (CP)]>:<[Parcel Number]> was changed to SHC Lot: <[Parcel Number]> to get the new parcel name "SHC Lot : 1" on the DWG successfully - see the second attached file.

I tried to add some chemical results (23.5 mg/kg Arsenic; 66.7 mg/kg Lead; 88.9 mg/kg Mercury) into the parcel. So I selected this parcel => Properties tab => Information => Parcel Area Label Style: Create/Edit =>Parcel Name: => Layout / Label Style Composer/Component name: Parcel Name =>Text: Contents <[Name(CP)]>

I clicked on the "Arrow" sign to bring the <[Description]> into the right-hand-side of Text Component Editor - Contents. I don't know how to finish this step and how to close the "Properties of Parcel" tab on the left-hand-side of the DWG (The selection of Parcel is still on). How to finish the last step and how to close the "Properties of Parcel" tab.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Text Properties In Palette

Sep 10, 2013

I'm working in AutoCAD Map 3D 2014, just upgraded in fact.  I'm working with older drawings that had their text added by a trained chimp in simple text (Command: TEXT as near as I can figure).  In updating these specification drawings, I'm making fonts the same size, updating material lists, correcting typos and just generally wiping off the banana chunks and drool.

Unfortunately, the properties palette no longer populates with all the text info like it did back in my 2010 version.  In fact, the displayed values won't actually change when I select ANYTHING.  Except it does go blank if I select something and then hit Ctrl 1 to get the palette.

I've hunted through Customize Palettes and Options under the Tools Menu (Map Classic workspace customized).

AutoCAD .NET :: Responding To The Properties Palette

Nov 7, 2011

I am writing in the process of writing a AutoCAD/Civil3D plug-in (in VB.Net) product that needs current detects all of the updates (modified, erased , Unmodified, etc) on my own Entities and then only act on these once. So to this end I am maintaining a list of the affect entities and then processing the 'queue' on Document.CommandEnded.

This worked perfectly for me until I realized that the Properties Palette (and probably others) do not actually perform a command so the command end event is never caught. Obviously the queue will be processed on the next command but it looks sloppy that my data is not updated straight away.

I have seen various blog posts and a similar post on here that suggest using DocumentManager.DocumentLockModeWillChange or Editor.EnteringQuiescentState as the event to detect the end of the edit. However I am finding that no matter which of there I use I am unable to apply my Document Lock and this leads to Access Violations no matter what checks I do passed on the EventArgs.

I believe I have all the right Document locks in place, all in Using Statements so they should be disposed of correctly.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Properties Palette Tabs?

Apr 1, 2012

Question of curiosity.  The Properties Palette in C3D 2012 has four tabs:  Design, Display, Extended Data, and Object Class.  The Design tab obviously has a lot of valuable information and allows you to edit and manipulate entities within the program.  But do the other tabs really have much value?

OK, it seems that there may be times when the Extended Data tab is of use as you can associate hyperlinks, notes, and documents with an drawing object; so I can buy into that.  Are there folks finding those features to be useful?

Now I don't know about the Display and Object Class tabs.  Whenever I select an item, and happen to check these tabs out, there just doesn't seem to be any useful information.  Perhaps I am not selecting the right types of objects.  If they are not listing any valuable information, why are they so prominent instead of being buried deep somewhere.  Any insight into the usefulness of the two tabs?,

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Clip Grid Lines But Still Show Information?

I need to clip the grid lines at a certain station, but still show the information beyond. The Engineers here got quite comfortable doing that with Land Desktop, and we haven't found a solution to do this with Civil.

I know about clipping the grid (under Profile View Properties), but the ditch (for example) clips to that same station. I need to show the information to the start/end of the survery without grid lines.

Right now, our solution is to draw line over top of the grid lines, and make those lines print white. Therefore, covering up the grid lines underneath.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Properties Window / Floating Palette

Nov 7, 2011

I'm having a problem with my properties window or floating palette. When I select an object, such as a "line", my properties palette refreshes itself for about 3 seconds. When I hit esc, or deselect the line, it takes another 3 seconds to refresh itself. You can even see the properties palette start at the top and go blank as it travels downward.  Very slow process, I can not get anything done. IF I close my properties palette, it does not have the delay, but I can not work without it. When I reboot, it works fine for about 5-6 selections, then jams back up.
