Revit :: Different Dimensions And Location In Plan And Section Views For Stairs?
Aug 18, 2011Why am I getting different dimensions and locations in plan and section views for stairs?

View 4 RepliesWe would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

i want to create a schedule that will show which views are visible within a Revit 2012-2013 plan view. Any way to do this or a work around?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI embedded a label (Generic Annotation) into some families that is only shown on plan views. Is there any Label that can be shown in the Room elevation views. I attached a simple familie with a label.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI started a new project. I linked a revit file. I copy monitored key levels from the linked file. The color of the level heads is black and this indicates that there are no associated plan views. My question is, what is the best way to create plan views from the copy monitored levels?

breaking wall section views ? ie. using the section view tool works very well for a BIM wall type, but how can we cut the section so we don't need to have the view show the entire height, etc of the wall. especially when fitting in representative sections of twenty different wall types/situations on a single sheet ?

I have a project with multiple revit files linked in to it. Some of the linked 3D views contain section boxes that section off each floor of the building. (3D-Level 1, 3D-Level 2, etc.)
When I link one of the 3D views and enable section boxes (via the Extents->Section Box and via Overrides -> Links -> Display Settings -> Annotation), a section box will appear, but it is not the same size as the one in the linked file.. which makes my drawing show all of the floors instead of just Level 1. I am able to resize the box manually so I assume it is a local one.
Is there something I forgot to toggle? If not, is there an easy way to figure out the elevation/dimensions of selection boxes in the linked file so I can transfer the data to the local section boxes?

How to show sloped rafters in section and in plan correctly? The attached plan shows the rafters as a structural beam system and I do not know how to slope the beam system to match the roof pitch.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf it is possible to create proper dimensions for 3D isometric drafting views? In AutoCAD I could set an oblique angle for a dimension but in Revit there is no setting. I can only dimension 3D model views.
See attached PDF for example.
I'm trying to find a way of filtering the 'work in progress' section visibilities from a plan by view filters. The filter I use is 'Sheet Name' equal '<None>'. Then turning off visibility. It works when used in the Browser organisation filters but not in the view filter for the sheets.
I don't want to create a check box or dialogue box for the sheet as this will add to the required maintenance.
I need drawing a set of winder stairs in plan view. I am using autocad 2008.

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.
I have lots of section views with some surfaces and pipes. Unfortunately, in a number of section views pipes are not shown in full height because the section view level range is too little. What I am wondering is - is it possible to automatically adjust section level ranges so that they fully include pipe sections? Please see also the image in the attachment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i am creating section sheets from multiple section views ,section sheet view port scale changes.I did set it correctly in my template.
For example it changs from 1:150 to 1:150_1
Then in section sheets scetions views are not displaying correctly.
When i change view port scale manually it shows correctly. But it should do to all sheets.
What should I do?
In model spacr multiple section views are showing correctly.

In my section editor my labels show up correctly and in all the locations I want. But then, in my cross section file, I look in my section views and they are completely different. When I try to label more points under the Code Set Styles, they won't even show up on my section views.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI think I just haven't done this in a while and can't find the right setting.
I have existing sections.
I have section views.
I created a corridor.
How do I add the corridor section to my existing cross-section in the section views?
I can view them in the corridor section editor. But I should also be able to add the corridor section to my section views, right?
To plot them, do I NEED to do this through Sheets Sets? I don't have experience with sheet sets yet.
I don't use Civil 3D often enough anymore. Still learning much about the new interface and pulling a design together.
Just learning 2D CAD and trying to draw a cross section of a timber winder stairs as the strings change angle (I think) at the winder section. Looking at 3nr winding steps.
Setting out a standard stairs is okay, so I have the floor to floor height.
I am working in a project where I need to represent the reflecting ceiling edges in the plan view. I put the first floor plan as underlay, and selected the RCP projection but I don't see the dropped ceiling lines to select them with the linework command. I have done every thing possible with the view range but I don't see the lines.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy stairs go from Level 1 to 2 and join a concrete floor at level 2.
The stairs are monolithic.
The problem I have is that at the top of the stairs the end riser can be seen and so it appears as an extra tread when viewed in plan.
See attached file, the red cross marks the lines which I need to remove.
I cannot join the stairs to the slab.
How can I remove these lines - is there something better than a masking region? can I set something in the family?
I noticed that Revit likes to show the entire stair going down. This works for me in a lot of cases but I have a project that the second floor is showing the stair all the way down to the first floor, and there is another stair going from the second floor to the third that I really need to see.
Plan regions don't seem to allow me to add a break line below the second floor and see the stair from the second to the third floor. The floors are on and the view is set to hidden.
The attached png shows the up stairs in blue that I would like to see and the Down stairs I would like to cut at the landing.
I have a stair that along one side of the sloping part is a window. I have 2 railings along this stair, 1 is a chair rail, the other is a wainscot panel. Obviously the chair rail and wainscot cannot be built to cover the window.
How can the railings be "cut" around the window?
I know how to start/stop the chair rail, but the wainscot needs to continue under the window (keeping in mind that the window is horizontal and the wainscot is sloping with the stair.)
I can't seem to get the stairs to cut say half way down. The normal view range for the view doesn't cut it, and neither does a plan region. Going up is great, I don't see why cutting it down is so difficult...?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the following flights of stairs running down one side of my building:
Landing, 6R with 170mm height, Landing, 3R with 190 height, Landing, 7R with 182 height.
I've modeled this as 3 separate flights of stairs because of the 3 different riser heights. The top landing is a floor slab, as is the bottom landing. I've modeled intermediate landings as either the top or bottom tread of a flight. How do I deal with the junctions of these stairs? The monolithic concrete will not join. The materials of both components are set to <By Category>.
My stairs won't extend up to second floor. I am using Revit 13 and have created many stairs in past with other models. I have tried stair by sketch and stair by component but they keep stopping about 2 feet short of the floor drawing a standard U shape.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince the end of Aug. 2012 I've been making families for a manufacturer. I left Friday evening with good families. This morning I am finding all the families I checked with a problem.
When I move the cursor across the various views it doubles the views. Rolling the mouse wheel one click either way to zoom in or out cleans the view but on the next time the cursor goes across the view it doubles it again. Now there are 4 views overlapping each other. The next time it is possibly 8, and so on. It is difficult to count them because they are overlapping but it looks like they are doubling each time.
The software is Revit Architecture 2011 and the computer is a Dell Precision T3500.Are the families corrupted or is it the computer? Is there a toggle I hit that I shouldn't have?
See attachment.
I can't figure out why the bas is visible through the floor :s while the middle part is not. The part where you can see the color of the stairs is cut out of the floor.
I'm trying to create a flight of stairs by component (Revit 2013). When I view them in 3D I notice that one of the walls from Level 1 that should be "cut" where the stair run intersects the wall @ top of wall, does not cut and instead goes through the staircase up to level 2. How to get this wall to be "cut" following the rise of the stairs? I've remade the stairs dozens of times and it still does not automatically cut the wall.
