AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Apply Single String Value To All Layers In Drawing
May 30, 2012Is there a way to apply a single string value "Phase1", or "Phase2" to all layers in a drawing? I though about exporting a Layer State, modifying it in Excel, then re-importing the layer state, but, Layer States don't store a value for "Description."
I'm creating a consolidated map from several drawings, but I'd like to be able to separate the layers from each drawing. Description seems like a good value to populate and be able to sort by in the Layer Manager.

Mar 26, 2013Running a script to open up files and convert to another type. When it gets to a TIFF type file a dialog window titled 'TIFF Import Options' is opening. This windows has an Options column that contains two radio selections for 'Convert Layers to Objects' and 'Flatten Layers to a Single Image'. How would I open the file with the 'flatten layers to a single image' set?

Jul 6, 2011I'm working on a drawing and I need to take multiple layers that I have drawn (which make up one unit) and basically merge them together so that I can replicate and move them about and place them where they need to go in the larger unit that they live in.
I tried playing with grouping in the Layers Manager, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or if there is another way to go about this.
I'm attaching my CAD drawing so you can see what I'm up to. In this drawing, there are basically two groups of layers. Those that make up the Control Tower itself, and another group for what's called a Tajimi Rack. I need to have all the layers for the Tajimi Rack made as one so that I can move that object around without having to move the layers one at a time. (There is a lot more that needs to drawn into the Tajimi Rack, but once I know how to merge them all together, I'll be in a good position to carry forward.)
I also need to know how to then take that new Tajimi Rack layer and duplicate it (I'm looking to place about a dozen of the Tajimi Racks in the control tower.
FWIW, I'm a self taught CADer. By that I mean I have to use CAD in my job but it's always done in a 2D setting where I'm simply looking through roofs with other drawings laid under for rigging purposes. AutoCad 3D :: Won't Delete Layers In Drawing In Layers Properties Manager
Sep 20, 2006There are some layers in my drawing that won't delete in the layers properties manager. I don't know why. It gives me 4 possible reasons:
- It might be layer 0 or a Defpoint (whatever that is).
- It is the current layer
- It is an Xref dependent layer
- It is a layer containing objects
But none of these, to my knowledge, apply. There could be things on the layer that I'm just not seeing, but I've looked thoroughly. I even zoomed out to the extents, highlighted the whole area, and clicked the erase tool, but it still won't go away. I got the file from another computer, so it might be an Xref dependent layer and the Xref'ed files just didn't come with it. How would I be able to tell - and how could I remove the Xref dependency?
Other than that, is there any other reason a layer won't delete? Can I force it to delete?

Like plate no 1 @100 to 120mm (in vertical axis. A 20mm thick plate placed at 100mm above zero plane.) and plate no 2 in 150 to 175mm height and so on.

AutoCad :: Delete Section Of A Drawing From Single COMMAND?
May 19, 2012how to draw a certain line and be able to delete part of it.
Example 1: I would like to draw a bunch of seried resistors, so I made a bunch of rectangles and draw a wire across them. But there are wire crossing through each one of them, how do I remove/erase that part in between each of the resistor? The line is made by using command: LINE
Example 2: Drawing some polygon and random shapes. Simplest example, drawing a half circle, so I draw a circle and want to remove the other half, how do I do it?
Yes, I know in example 1 I can do one object first then copy paste... But that is not what I am asking. I am seeking the command how to remove the lines or object in between.

Illustrator :: Combining Layers To A Single Layer?
Mar 11, 2014I have just been updated to CC at work and I am having all sorts of issues. But the two main pressing ones are:
1. When I save, it keeps "not responding". Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. When it does, I lose everything. It takes anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes to save. I thought it was an issue with a large file, but it does it to me in a one page file with only one photo in it as well.
2. Layers. This is the killer right here. Again, I thought this was a capatability issue when using old files, but it has proved me wrong. As I create layers and new artwork, it works fine. However, once I save and re-open the file, all the artwork has been combined to a single layer and then I have to dig it all out to do anything to it, only to have it do the same thing the next time I repoen the file.
Is it me? Is it default settings somewhere in CC? I have major deadlines that I think I am going to miss if things keep continueing the way they are.
System Specs:
Illustrator CC 16.0.3 (Tried to update to 17 and it said everything was up to date, twice)
Windows 7
Dell Optiplex 7010 with Core i7 and brand new AMD video card.

I have tried adding the adjustment layer from the icon at the bottom of the layers palette, from Layers, New adjustment layer, and I have also tried linking the two layers. In all cases the adjustment made applies to the whole image. I am sure that previous versions of Photoshop had this facility.

Nov 16, 2012I have a Photoshop CS6 document with 20-some adjustment layers and would like to be able to apply their effect to multiple image files. I'm looking for a way to convert the series of adjustment layers into a single action so that I can batch process a set of images. Can this be done?
Unless I'm missing something, it appears that no trivial solution exisits. For example, there's no option that allows for selecting the adjustment layers, right clicking them, and choosing 'convert to action.' What I want to avoid is having to redo each adjustment layer just for the sake of recording an action.
Also, I understand that I can always "place" (i.e. drag and drop) the image requiring processing into the Photoshop document containing the adjustment layers, saving a merged copy as jpeg, and repeat... but such a manual method would border on insulting to this prowess of a program.
Any method of recording an action that can make use of the document with the adjustment layers and a variable document that will be passed through during the batch process.

Oct 23, 2013I'm trying to set up an easy way to import layers from a certain dwt. file with a shortcut.
Now I found this code, which kind of works, but doesn't do the whole trick. It works with a Popup where I have to insert the dwt. file. It's also annoying that it opens this file than and I have to close it manually.
I would like to have this without any import options and automatically takes this one file always for the layers.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Import DWG Into Sketch - Layers Unavailable
Jan 27, 2012A couple of days ago when I went to shut down my computer ran windows updates automatically and the next morning these updates failed and the previous setting were re-configured. Windows updates ran again the next night and updated sucessfully.
Since then I have been having problems importing autocad into a sketch. In the Layers and Objects Import Options dialog box, the layers are not shown and the autocad objects can not be individually selected.
I was wondering if this is the solution to the problem or if there is a hotfix to solve it without having to un/reinstall programs.
