How I set Linetype scale for 3 paper space with different page setup with in single drawing.
Explanation:I have a drawing with XRef attached, I want to make 3 paper space for this drawing with different page setup A0, A1 and A3. I am confused how I set line type scale for each paper space.
I'm trying to plot a set of drawings that need to be set at 1:1. Every time I pick Custom or 1:1 and set it to 1mm = 1unit, AutoCAD immediately switches it to whatever 1:1_6 is, leaving me with a bunch of empty space around all my viewports.
I'm fairly new at using paper space, and I've never used a plot scale that have underscores in them, so I don't even know what they're representing.
I am working on an AutoCad drawing (Vers. 2013) that I got from someone else. I am setting up my drawing and right clicked my sheet tab as usual to go to the page set up manager. I set up my printer, ctb, paper size etc. But when I try to set my plot size to 1:1 it won't retain it and reverts to 1"=1'. It will however let me switch to anything other than to 1;1 (ie 1:10). I checked some existing drawings and the problem doesn't show up. So it's just this particular drawing that's messed up. I checked my drawing units and drawing setup commands and they are the same as I always use.
So the question is why won't let me use a plot size of 1:1?
I want to setup two different page setup for one file. For example, when I type publish command, I want to have option of either selecting pdf or selecting actual printer.

Luckily, I found an CAD template that already have scaled text and dimension size setup. now, I have to set different scale in the model space according on which scale i wanna plot on view port.
but for annotative scale, what scale should i use in model space? Overall, I just want all my text to be in same size when print out and in a readable size.
I setup my paper in 22x34 but mostly print out in 11x17 paper for office use.
I would like a routine that will determine if 'Page Setup A' is in the drawing and if so, apply 'Page Setup B' to all all layouts within the drawing. I would like to have it run upon drawing open in the ACAD.lsp
Basically we've changed our master page setup names, and now when a user switches to modelspace then back to paperspace the layout loses its configuration.

Is there a way to remove the *Model* page setup entry from the list of Page Setups in the Page Setup Manager? This is the first time I am seeing *Model* in the list, and I suspect that it the reason I am not able to generate a PDF for this particular drawing. When I try, I get the following error:

I have this idea that removing *Model* from the list will do it. In addition to causing PDF creation failure, I believe it is also responsible for forcing the Model to always be in the Publish list, even though I have unchecked the "Include model when adding sheets" option. I can remove it from that list manually, but it comes back every time.
I am guessing this will be a no but is there a way to change page setup for more than 1 page at a time? I have multiple pages in a drawing that I want to change to all the same page setup.

View 7 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
How can I copy a linetype definition from a drawing to the linetype definition file?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSeveral times a week I need to take a PDF (single-page doc), then convertto a page-sized PNG with quality good enough to read the text (and atransparent border), and then convert to a SWF. I have a PNG-to-SWFutility, but when I used it on the PNG saved after I opened my PDF andexported from GIMP, the end result was not good enough. A co-worker saidGIMP couldn't make a PNG (w/transparency) with enough quality. He said we'dhave to use some other software. Part of the issue was not being able toresize without losing quality before the PNG export. True or false?

I have looked at the Options dialog to see if that color can be changed, but I could not find the name of that area outside the per layout ( I have my paper layout to black, which is fine, but I do not know how to change the areas outside the paper). This bright color came with AutoCAD 2012.

I am using CAD LT 2005 but also have access to AutoCAD 2005.
I am unsure about the best way of dealing with text in drawings. Originally I used to put my text in model space - which was fine until I started using multiple layouts in paperspace at different scales. The text would come out either to big or too small.
Others in my office say they put the text in paperspace ONLY at the right scale for that layout. This is fine until you realize that if you have to put text in 4 different layouts at 4 different scales 4 different times it takes forever.
So - I looked up about a command called SPACETRANS which seems to offer a way of working out the right scale for the text in paperspace. EG. Working in mm in model space a good text height for me was 1000. By using the spacetrans command in paperspace I worked out that the text height to be used here was 9.2. This basically gave me my text in paperspace at the relatively same height as it looked in model space.
I now realize that although I can scale my text happily to the right size in all my layouts it hasn't negated the need for me to type it all in many times over. Basically, I still have to type the text into paperspace at the right scale - in this example at 9.2.
How you can type your text in once anywhere (probably model space) and then scale it in all the different viewports without having to retype it all in?
When I draw a line at my template it always has the line type scale 5 as default under properties.
I know that I can chance this by hand or chance a basic line type scale with the command "lts".
But all the lines in the drawings of our partner have the line type scale 1 under properties. So if I used "lts", there would either my lines or their lines be scaled wrong. Also I don't want to chance the default line type scale of each line by hand.
Is there a possibility to set up something that each line I'm drawing, starts with a specific line type scale as default under properties?
Modeling 1:1 in MS, dimensioning in PS different scaled viewports. Plotted from PS, did further work both in MS/PS and notice dimension readings have scaled up by 99.98% and 100% to what they were in hard copy. Changed dims in properties but for some reason they have reverted back to the percentage increase? For example I have a 5745mm truss span that is now a 574.5 meter spanning truss!!?? Haven’t altered dimstyle at all or any scalings. Laid another dimension again in PS along side the exaggerated one using same endpoints in order to check things and it’s fine.
Would like to know what has caused the dims to scale up in PS and, how to undo the problem, hoping not to have to re-dimension.
Attached is the dwg. and yes, I have dimensioned in MS but there was a reason. It’s PS that’s causing the grief.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to change my ground conductor from solid green to a dashed line (green is OK) on a set of drawings, but all the dashed linetypes I can find don't show up well at the scale that I've drawn the circuits. I can make them look OK by changing the linetype scale in the properties manager window, but there are a boatload of these lines in eight viewports; finding them all would be a major pain. They are all on a single layer, though, but in the layer properties manager I do not see a way to change the linetype scale for the layer. I could use the properties manager to make the change if I could select everything on the layer. Is there a way to do that?

in layer translator the linetype scale does not work.
when i use layer translator, the resulted drawing comes with all layer ok but the linetypes scale does not.
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2007 and have a problem with linetype between two drawings. I have a standard key which I use on a number of drawings, problem is when I copy from my original file (in model space) to paper space on another drawing the linetype isn't viewed the same.
I've set LTSCALE to 1. PSLTSCALE to 0, Global scale factor to 1 in both files but still no joy.
Im using LT 2012 & have an issue with a few drawings.
Example:I draw a single line & set to 'Dashed' (or any other type). If i then rotate that line the linetype scale changes to a very small dash & the actual scale of the line changes. rotate it abit more & it will change again.
I have loaded an insulation linetype and I needed to make the ltscale of that line .194 in the linetype manager so that it would fit in my 3.5" walls.I would like my insulation linetype to always be drawn at .194 ltscale. All of my other lines/linetypes I would like to stay at 1.00
When I changed the linetype scale of the insulation to .194 every other ltscale went with it. Is it possible to change one ltscale independently of all your other linetypes?
I have a problem between my template in inch and the one in mm.
Its the linetype scale that is wrong in the mm one, when i draw in the inch one, everything is fine but when i draw in the mm one, i have to set the ltscale to like 25 to see them at the same scale that they are in the inch one.
My guest is its because i've create my template for the mm one base on the inch one and i just change the unit type to mm. Is there a setting i could change that will arrange this?

I have existing .NET code that adds page setups to drawings. I now wanted to set the newly added page setup as "current" within the drawing.
The "manual" way to do what I am asking is by clicking the "Set Current" button from within the Page Setup Manager dialog. How would I do this programmatically?
I found an old 2008 post about "removing page setup from several hundred drawings all at the same time?" and the answer was "No".
But is there a way to do it in a single dwg ?

I'm trying to find a setting which allows me to produce pdf copies of AC LT 2014 layouts that do not require rotation to view them in Adobe.
I've searched all through the pdf settings and still I have to rotate the pdf counterclockwise to view it in its correct orientation.
There's a setting which works for MS Office documents in the pdf options section but when this is applied in ACAD it doesn't work and I still have to rotate the view.
I am trying, in vane, to batch plot multiple dwg files to pdf's.
I have a pdf reader/writer (Bluebeam Extreme), but the plugin will not work (I have sent an email to Bluebeam to see if hey can sort it out).
So, I tried using the batchplot, but kept getting stuck when I had added multiple dwg's, using Publish, and then tried to change the page setup by right-clicking the files. The new page setup I had just created wass not available, apart from the dwg I created it in.
I hadn't notcied until now, as I usually use the Previous Plot dropdown when plotting, but whenever I create a new Page Setup, it is no longer in the dropdown combo box whenever I open up a new file, or even in the file I created it in if I close it down and reopen.
I am using AutoCAD LT 2010 with Windows 7 Professional, 32 Bit.
