Oct 25, 2011I have several different views xreffed into a single view, should'nt they all share the base construct? i.e. If I want to overlay the lighting plan, HVAC plan and my reflected ceiling plan- they should share the first floor construct. Instead each one brings in the same base construct and then when you overlay them, the walls interfere and you get wall errors.

For example, can I export a pipe network created by another user into a master file? (which contains all my networks consolidated together). I want to work on one part of the network while another user works on another part of the network then combine into a single file so that I reference everything into our P&P sheets.

Jan 29, 2012I'm trying to print / plot a drawing which has a mixture of 2D plans and 2 3D views. I have the drawing set-up with viewports in paperspace. The objects in one of the 3D views prints perfectly, yet some of the linework from the second 3D view won't print.

Oct 12, 2012I have a prob with my system in that when I close a drawing with a 3d view in a viewport and reopen it, I lose the 3D view and it flattens out, maintaining the view but losing all perspective. I can easily restore the saved view, but it is bit irritating.

If I mask one area in model space, then I try to mask another, clicking no delete of previous boundary, it still won't let me do it. I need to mask many small pieces of an xref in the model space.

Besides cutting one of the views in half and revolving around it or push/pulling an enclosed area a certain distance for each individual feature of the motor or extruding many faces is there a QUICK and SIMPLE way to do this?

I am wanting a routine that will open a set of drawings, the set matching each drawing file name field record and populate the attributes in the drawing title block with the corresponding records in that row from the database table.
I have seen where multiple blocks in one drawing can be populated with an attached database but I want to populate several drawings with a single database that has several records. One row of records for each drawing.

Aug 29, 2012Is there a command to combine two 3d polylines into a single polyline? Either combine, take the mean between the two lines, or draw a third line at the mid distance between the two original lines?
The lines are created (in a .dxf) by a GPS unit in the field, and represent tracks needing to be mapped. Typically we would drive out a track and then drive back on the same track; this gives me two 3d polylines. Because of GPS errors it better practice to log the roads/ tracks twice. The lines can have from 2000 to 10000 vertices, so manually drawing is not an option.

Have not succeeded yet, and just throwing out the question if it can be done? Or if model views called out have to be in individual files? Don't want to waste my time if it can't be done.

Apr 2, 2013Our company does not have the funds to upgrade so we are stuck with CD12. I am using using a windows 7 /64 bit machine. I created this xml template for the writers to place place their graphics in our author software.
I have 4 layers on my file - grid.guide,desktop and template. The template has the instructions and size dimensions. I have them put all graphics on the high lited desktop layer then when this is complete turn off the template layer. One can print this file with just the graphics showing with no problem.
However if I export this a PNG file both the template and desktop layers show up even though I turned off all layers. I just want the desktop layer with the graphics to show up. I have been using Adobe Illustrator for several years and this doesn't present a problem when saving the graphic as a PNG file.

When I set Naming: to Automatic - Short, it produces files named like:
FloorPlan-2D_L1_Interiors.dwg,
FloorPlan-2D_L1_Structural.dwg,
FloorPlan-2D_L2_Interiors.dwg, etc.
The 2D_L2_Interiors is the name of the view, and it is a FloorPlan so it adds that as a prefix. I am looking for a way to force Revit to ignore the prefix.
Is there a way to export these so they are automatically generated like:
2D_L1_Interiors.dwg,
2D_L1_Structural.dwg,
2D_L2_Interiors.dwg, etc.
Does the Naming: Manual (Specify file name) option have the ability to use fields for parts of the name, perhaps taken from Project Parameters or something? So in the filename box I'd be able to say {View Style}-{View Group}-{View Name}.dwg and end up 3D-Interiors-SomeViewName.dwg?
Or should I download Ant Renamer and call it a day?

I've done this in the past by importing two RAW files at different exposure values, then selecting from one photo, feathering, and copy/paste into the other photo. This proved to be very time consuming and no where near perfect.
I thought Photoshop CS2's "Merge to HDR" function would be ideal for automating this process, but it won't take the two different RAW imports as input because it knows they're from the same photo.
