I'm working in Civil 3D 2012 and when I print to a .PDF with rotated views, the .PDF file is very large compared to file with non-rotated views. how to control the file size?
View 4 RepliesI have successfully printed a dwg to a pdf but instead of its file size being 450k it is 1.4 m. This makes sending pdfs via email too cumbersome. It seems that even though the outcome is B&W somewhere along the line "it" thinks it is Color. I noticed that in Page Setup I no longer have the option of "DWG to PDF.pc3".

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have a survey of a roadway that was created 15 years ago and was converted into autocad civil 3d 2012. No problems there, however, I am going through the survey and rotating the COGO points (ie Traffic Signs, Utility Poles) and the text to be parallel to the roadway. I am in UCS World and have no problems rotating the points and text to what I want. THe problem starts when I rotate the drawing using UCS 3P so that I am looking at a portion of the roadway that is parallel to my computer screen. Now the text and orientation of the signs etc are no longer parallel to the roadway and did not rotate when I rotated the entire project.
Now I was under the impression the points were to rotate automatically to what I set them as, ie parallel to the roadway. I'm sure this is an easy fix or I am not understanding something.
My plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.
I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.
When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.
I'm working on revit 2013, in WIndows 7 inside parllels on a macbook pro.
I have some large images that I would like to print at full size, which will involve tiling across multiple sheets of paper. I can't seem to find a way to setup tiling at the Print dialog or through Gutenprint.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIve got this blank DWG with a file size of 4MB... ive ERASE > ALL on all layouts, then PURGED a few times, i cant see any layer filters. The STATUS command says it has 241007 objects. but i cant find or get rid of them.
Take a look at this DWG and let me know how i can clear it out and reduce the file size?

I am having an issue with a drawing I have been workign on in Civil 3D. In the drawing I have a corridor and many section views thereof. I was performing some section edits and had been working with two model space viewports so I could keep track of the alignment while performing the edits. When I exitd the section editor, one of my two viewports remained aligned to the section of my corridor, though the view had returned to basic model space. When I switched back to a single viewport, I was left with the one oriented to a section view as opposed to my plan viewport. I reoriented the view to TOP only to find that that most of the drawing, at least visually, is missing. A small portion of my corridor is visible, but appears to have been mostly eaten by some digital goblin.
Similarly, only parts of the overlay I had behind the corridor are visible. I can x-ref the drawing into another drawing and everything is visible. I can copy and paste anything I can manage to select in my drawing into another drawing, where it is also fully visible. I have a couple of profile views who are missing entirely, save their axis and band contents, which I can still see. If i rotate the view one way or another, the amount of visible information changes, but I can't get everything back.
I'm using InDesign CS5 to create a calendar. I am using rotated view for the spreads. I have page 4-27 I want to send to my client for proofing. I only want the "smallest File" for screen viewing ioption. I've never had a problem creating PDFs. This is the first time using viewer spreads rotated. Wondering if this is creating the problem.
The background task panel has been stuck at 42% for over an hour. InD won't let me quit the save. It won't allow me to close the project window, or Force quit the program.
I have a file that doesn't have a lot of stuff in it, but the file size seems to be quite large in proportion. Is there a way that I can use DBList, and export the data to a spreadsheet? It would be a lot easier to search through than the F2 way.

a drawing printing can now be saved so that each time I have a format A to print, it prints format A by default.
Each time I have a format B to print, it prints format B by default.
Now, if i have a drawing format A and another drawing format B to print, i have to change the format prining page each time.
How do I send a large Illustrator CS3 file to a client that needs it for printing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just discovered that Spot Elevation text is mesbehaving in rotated dependent views:
If you have an orthogonal parent plan view, then create a dependant view from it, then rotate just that dependant view, then place a spot elevation - the spot elevation symbol respects the rotation of the view (ie its paralel to screen/view boundary), but the spot elevation text remains in the orientation of the parent view. see attached image.
This does not happen if you rotate a normal Revit plan view; nor does it happen with a callout - both cases the symbol and the text are parallel to the view boundary. I think this is a bug?

I can't for the life of me figure out why a 9 page PDF containing only outlined text, is ending up at 4.5mb. It's pretty intense lines and text, etc. But still. It seems too large.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to prepare a very simple poster (one color for back ground and one for the font, no further editing at all) but it has to be around 50x50inch size which is big. I have never worked with such a large images before hence my question.
When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?

Is my illustrator running slow? I have an i7 3770K, 16gb ram, gtx 660i 2g, h100i, ax1200i and maximus formula v. I'm running dual 24" 1920x1080 monitors. File size is 800x600 pixals with 5 layers and 100+ paths in each layer. Is the program running slow because the file is too big or is there a problem with illustrator?

After inserting quite a lot of linked images (without embedding), the file size becomes much larger, up too nearly 400MB.
I saved without pfd compatible function already, but the file size is sill very large. I did not face the same problem working with CS5 before, is that a bug for CS6?
I import PDFs in Drawings and it takes forever to print. PDFs are only 400KB, so not big files.
