Sometimes an assembly file can become really very big.
Try to delete all components, all custom ViewReps, Positional Representations and Level of Details and save the file. If the file empty is till very big, then this post might be interesting.
In my company we work with quite large assemblies, a small project im working on now, contains 527 documents with a total of 3088 occurrenses. Our customers often request STEP files which is a real pain for us to create.
Usually we have to start exporting the assembly at closing time and let the computer work over night, and the product is often a file in the 200mb range, which is too heavy to handle via e-mail, and also takes a lot of time to import to other CAD software.
Using the Task Scheduler is not an option since our file server isnt compatible and refuses to let go of files unless they are checked out manually.
why I have a part file that is almost 12MB in size yet it contains absolutely no features? I would attach the part but it's too big to upload.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly that has both downloaded parts and self created parts.
The problem I have is that if I isolate and then later undo isolate, Inventor will appear to freeze. If left for may be 40 mins or so the undo isolate action will have completed. The progress bar (bottom right hand corner) will freeze on a particular component (I think - the numbers by the side of the progress bar no longer count).
There are maybe 70-80 parts within the assembly and there are no showing errors. Is it possible to identify the 'corrupt' component? So I can replace it.

Ive got this blank DWG with a file size of 4MB... ive ERASE > ALL on all layouts, then PURGED a few times, i cant see any layer filters. The STATUS command says it has 241007 objects. but i cant find or get rid of them.
Take a look at this DWG and let me know how i can clear it out and reduce the file size?

I have a file that doesn't have a lot of stuff in it, but the file size seems to be quite large in proportion. Is there a way that I can use DBList, and export the data to a spreadsheet? It would be a lot easier to search through than the F2 way.

It seems that even though the outcome is B&W somewhere along the line "it" thinks it is Color. I noticed that in Page Setup I no longer have the option of "DWG to PDF.pc3".

When working inside an ipt, I want to open the idw from the browser using the right-click > "open drawing" option. The link is broken, however; so the idw must be searched for manually and opened. How can I repair the link so I can open the idw from the ipt browser in the future?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to prepare a very simple poster (one color for back ground and one for the font, no further editing at all) but it has to be around 50x50inch size which is big. I have never worked with such a large images before hence my question.
When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?

Is my illustrator running slow? I have an i7 3770K, 16gb ram, gtx 660i 2g, h100i, ax1200i and maximus formula v. I'm running dual 24" 1920x1080 monitors. File size is 800x600 pixals with 5 layers and 100+ paths in each layer. Is the program running slow because the file is too big or is there a problem with illustrator?

After inserting quite a lot of linked images (without embedding), the file size becomes much larger, up too nearly 400MB.
I saved without pfd compatible function already, but the file size is sill very large. I did not face the same problem working with CS5 before, is that a bug for CS6?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used Gimp a bit, and before that PS quite a bit. I have never had to use the size constraints for sizing a file to fit a large format printer. I will be getting one any day so I would like to be prepared as much as possible. When I was at another shop, the owner used one of the cropping functions to set the finish print size and then she could move the box around to locate the best print area and remainder to be cropped. She was using PS. I would assume I could do it also in Gimp, but have not found a way to do it yet. What am I missing. Even if the printer software will do it on the printer, I would like to be able to show my customer on a PC monitor what they might expect.

But when I place all parts together, i.e. assemble all parts, I find that the parts are not looks good because the size either too big or too small. View 9 Replies View RelatedA customer has sent me a .sat file that is 297MB. Inventor is grinding at it, but its taking a very long time to open. Part count is up to 4323 open documents and the "Importing SAT Bodies-54%".
This has been running for two hours and it seems like it is getting slower and slower. My concern here is that this machine will run out of memory before it completes. It has 8GB of installed ram.
Any tips on bringing these large files into Inventor? Would a different neutral format be any faster/better?
I am currently working on a parametric assembly using i Logic to control the size of the components as well as patterns. However, I have hit a road block in trying to figure out how to write a rule for resizing the last roof sheet in this assembly pictured below to be even with the frame. The rule below is what controls the roof sheet pattern based on the frame length. The problem I am continually running into is how do you modify a part which is in an element within the pattern without having it affect the rest of the parts in the pattern since they all refer to part. I can get since it is hard to find information on i Logic.

When trying to import a NX 7.5 assembly file into inventor, there is a lot of duplication of parts, missing parts, and scattering of other parts. Is there a way to successfully import an assembly from NX to inventor, if so does it include all the original sketches and feature history that created the parts, or is that not possible?
