AutoCAD Inventor :: Setup BOM In Assembly File
Nov 4, 2013Is there a way to set up the BOM in the assembly file to show the top assembly as a line item with all it's children (and their children) listed underneath?

How do we change the setup to use a Standard Assembly?
I'm trying to set up a sliding/no separation contact within and assembly for FEA purposes. I want to eliminate all moments (torque) between two pieces while still allowing one to impart force on another. When evaluating constraints, I'm seeing moments are infect being passed through. The guide mentions this contact for planer and cylindrical objects but makes no reference to spherical surfaces.
Is it possible to accomplish this type of a contact on spherical surfaces?
In our drawing office we use Inventor in a mining materials handling environment. Our output is mainly structural drawings where we require a bill of materials as part of creating a drawing. Whenever I insert a BOM in the drawing environment I get this table which is labeled in a foreign language (it looks like an Eastern European language) and the format is not as per the standard Autodesk installation setup.
How do I either revert back to the standard setup or do a BOM setup from scratch?

When trying to import a NX 7.5 assembly file into inventor, there is a lot of duplication of parts, missing parts, and scattering of other parts. Is there a way to successfully import an assembly from NX to inventor, if so does it include all the original sketches and feature history that created the parts, or is that not possible?

I took an existing assembly from one specidifc directory and copied it to another location. Then one part by one I use the replace command to swap out the parts to map to the new location because when I went to iproperties it was still pathing to the old location. I change the new parts physical features (i.e. length, diameter).
I get done with it and all references are pointing to the new location.
I exit out of inventor and call up the new assembly and it has mate errors because the parts are all of the old ones from the original location. Why is it not remembering or retaining the new parts and there locations?
Even when I have gotten this screen I have selected "No" to the bottom (2nd) selection which is the original location I do not want.
I have to send one of my assemblies to a customer who has Solidworks I believe, so I thought I would just save the assembly as a step file, but when I try to do this it crashes my system probably due to the fact that I have quite a bit of embossing on one particular panel. Any other options?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a step file of an assembly, the assembly consists of maybe 50-100 parts. I am currently running Inventor 2009. In a new part file, I derive the assembly to make it one solid entity. Then I save that as a step file. However when i open the step file, i have a bunch of extra "parts" in my model tree. These parts seem to be where the bolts and threaded holes interfere or not all parts joined to the main solid model. How can I eliminate this?
Also on a side note, is there anyway to change the orientation of the WCS?
In inventor 2013 professional I have a problem using the section view in my assemblies files. When I active the section view it works well, as soon as I open a command (for example the measure of a distance) the section view disappear and the assembly appear in entire view.I didn't modified any configuration on my software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to identify the location of a part in an assembly file?
I cannot access (or find access to) global locations, just local. You may ask, whats the problem? Well, right now, I have 10 subAssemblies and they are all "located" at (0,0,0), which means I have 10 solids sharing the exact same space. This problem can be easily fixed if I can compare the Global Origin to a Local Origin, but I can only find the "work axes origin" which is worthless to me.
I am trying to create ADSK file for an assembly created in Inventor so that I can export it to Autodesk Revit. How can this be done?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have used the derive component command to mirror parts many times but each time in the past I have had a desire for that part to be linked to the one I mirrored. I have a new situation where I would like to mirror a skeleton part file that I used on one assembly to make a new assembly.
For example, I used the part attached below to create a stair frame for a steel framed platform I am working on. It consists of geometry, work features, and sketches that represent the nosing line, guardrail, stair stringers, etc.
I have another stair on the other side of the platform that needs to be a mirror image of this one plus a few unique modifications. The new assembly cannot be "linked" to the other one as each of these assemblies needs to be modified independently.
How can I mirror this part to reuse work I have already done without having to create a new skeleton file from scratch? Using the derived part method, then breaking the link makes all of my sketch entities unconstrained.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have written a program within Inventor that list all components of an assy with their properties (iproperties and properties from Producstream) and allow an export of the bill of material to Excel with our company layout.
I want to add a function to my program in order to print all drawings that belong to an assy.
I have the list of components and I want to use the new functionality of the Producstream menu that allows us to open the attached drawing.
But I don’t know which library and which property.
When I create a assembly , no problem , If I modify any parts in the assembly , the mods do not translate to the part file Inventor asks if I want to save the changes but nothing happens , everything is in the correct project folder , I have tried everything I can think of .
I have looked at several posts and comes up with a add on called "Feature Migrator" but Inventor must be able to it by itself?
I have an assembly file I made in Inventor 2011 that I published to DWF. When I view it in Design Review 2013 not all the parts are visible. If I zoom in on the area that they are suppose to be, they magically appear, but can't get a good view of the whole assembly that way. This trick doesn't work for all missing parts. I have tried to hide/unhide the missing parts, but that does nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my company we work with quite large assemblies, a small project im working on now, contains 527 documents with a total of 3088 occurrenses. Our customers often request STEP files which is a real pain for us to create.
Usually we have to start exporting the assembly at closing time and let the computer work over night, and the product is often a file in the 200mb range, which is too heavy to handle via e-mail, and also takes a lot of time to import to other CAD software.
Using the Task Scheduler is not an option since our file server isnt compatible and refuses to let go of files unless they are checked out manually.
I am trying to add instances of an ipart to an assembly automatically from an excel file and need to be able to specify the occurrence x, y, and z positions. Since the Inventor version is so old I have not been able to find the proper documentation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy goal is to open have people go into a central assembly file, type in their specific parameters and the various part files update within the assembly. I wish to do this without the need for an excel sheet, but when I try to link the parameters from the assembly file to the part files, it will not allow me to insert these parts. I get an error about an "assembly can not be placed into itself."
Iparts will not work as this has an infinite amount of sizes.
I have finished all my parts and now i have to assemble them. I normally just use the constrain tools, but this time i need to set a part in mid air. I would like to use the move tool, but with exact xyz coordinates. I only seem to be able to do that with an UCS (coordinate system), not the part itself. I guess it's just a button i'm missing somewhere.
