AutoCAD Inventor :: Revert Back To Standard Setup Or BOM Setup From Scratch?
Jun 7, 2013
In our drawing office we use Inventor in a mining materials handling environment. Our output is mainly structural drawings where we require a bill of materials as part of creating a drawing. Whenever I insert a BOM in the drawing environment I get this table which is labeled in a foreign language (it looks like an Eastern European language) and the format is not as per the standard Autodesk installation setup.
How do I either revert back to the standard setup or do a BOM setup from scratch?
I have been using Face Robot in SoftImage for the lipsync feature.
I have imported an obj model and it animates well. To get other facial feature animation, I import a c3d mocap file and blend it by setting the weight options for the jaw and lips to zero.
All great, except when I enable rotation and translation to get head motion (rather than just brow and cheeks etc) the head snaps back 180 deg, leaving the neck collar in the original position. The model now has a broken neck.
If I view the c3d 'face markers' in SoftImage or Motionbuilder, it looks like the 'face forward' axis is -Z rather than +Z, and upside down. A 180 deg rotation about X.
How do I fix this? Is there a standard axes setup for c3d files?
I have a grid set up. say 10X10 each. I then fill in each square of the grid. I get rid of the grid, left with 10X 10 squares next to each other separated by 1 pixel then I do an outline to quickly get rid of the spaces between each square.
Now I I have 12 pixel wide line, now I would like to do an Inline (negative outline) to reduce the line back down to 10 pixel (or less ) wide line.
Since it is not exactly a straight line, but rather than a zig zaging line I can't exactly use the pixel selection tool.
I was put in charge of modifying The commun library of our content center. Later today, i found out that one of our draftmen played around our library and modifying some of the preset that i setup.
My question is: What can be done to limit access (Putting it at Read-only) to certain library for certain users without limiting my own access?
Also, I'm pretty sure its not possible but ill ask anyway, is it possible to know who modify those library and when?
Is there a way to set up the BOM in the assembly file to show the top assembly as a line item with all it's children (and their children) listed underneath?
I am just playing with iLogic forms and I have set a slider to move a part in 15 degree steps from 90 to 180 degrees, all is fine but the slider is on the left for 90 degrees and on the right for 180 degrees, I would like it to be able to be set so that 180 is on the left of the slider and 90 is on the right of the slider. is this possible?
I'm having a difficult time finding exactly how I set up the parts list table. I'm thinking that I must have the wrong terminology when searching.
A background on exactly what I am trying to accomplish. I am a cabinet maker and have made the final decision to use Inventor for my design program. I'm taking the self learning method and I get most of it, I feel like I'm on the edge of a breakthrough, but I seem to be stuck on the parts list and getting the information I need.
For a basic example, a shaker door. It has 5 parts; 2 stiles, 2 rails and a flat panel. I need to have the dimensions pop up in the parts list for all my pieces. Just basic length, width, depth, dado, etc. I guess that I felt it would be a piece of cake to configure Inventor, but for the life of me, I cannot find the information I need to go from a part file to shop drawings with dimensions and details.
I also need to make sure that I can get the driven dimensions to show up, since the rails (to the best of my knowledge) have to have driven dimensions. I assume that this is possible.
What I am trying to accomplish is something like what cabinet vision produces for documents. I chose inventor for the flexibility of design since I do some unusual things with cabinetry and cabinet vision just can't handle it.
I have a folder under libraries in my project setup where I plan to keep my library parts. Once there the parts are read only. my questions is should I not have them there. I cannot modify then if i need to and if I copy it out to change it they do not update in the library.
What is the best way about setting up libraries in my project setup?
I'm trying to set up a sliding/no separation contact within and assembly for FEA purposes. I want to eliminate all moments (torque) between two pieces while still allowing one to impart force on another. When evaluating constraints, I'm seeing moments are infect being passed through. The guide mentions this contact for planer and cylindrical objects but makes no reference to spherical surfaces.
Is it possible to accomplish this type of a contact on spherical surfaces?
How do I add a new Pagesetup in VB.NET?I know I need the Plot.Settings class and I add it to the Drawing database. How to get started with the code and/or correct object?
I am creating a new descriptor key set and would like to have any points that do not have a current code come in on layer Sort Me. How to set up the key to do this?
I am setting up for a new client; all the profiles, blocks, layer/text standard pulldowns, menues, etc. I have never done this before! ( I'm really excited) The first thing I need to do (I think) is set up a new profile that dosn't pull up all my other clients information (Blocks, layer requirments, etc.).
I have existing .NET code that adds page setups to drawings. I now wanted to set the newly added page setup as "current" within the drawing.
The "manual" way to do what I am asking is by clicking the "Set Current" button from within the Page Setup Manager dialog. How would I do this programmatically?
I'm trying to find a setting which allows me to produce pdf copies of AC LT 2014 layouts that do not require rotation to view them in Adobe.
I've searched all through the pdf settings and still I have to rotate the pdf counterclockwise to view it in its correct orientation.
There's a setting which works for MS Office documents in the pdf options section but when this is applied in ACAD it doesn't work and I still have to rotate the view.
I am trying, in vane, to batch plot multiple dwg files to pdf's.
I have a pdf reader/writer (Bluebeam Extreme), but the plugin will not work (I have sent an email to Bluebeam to see if hey can sort it out).
So, I tried using the batchplot, but kept getting stuck when I had added multiple dwg's, using Publish, and then tried to change the page setup by right-clicking the files. The new page setup I had just created wass not available, apart from the dwg I created it in.
I hadn't notcied until now, as I usually use the Previous Plot dropdown when plotting, but whenever I create a new Page Setup, it is no longer in the dropdown combo box whenever I open up a new file, or even in the file I created it in if I close it down and reopen.
I am using AutoCAD LT 2010 with Windows 7 Professional, 32 Bit.
Why we need to setup drawing limit in our model space when we can just adjust everything fit in our paper before plotting/printing like zooming on viewport or just use scale in layout? why we need drawing limit?
I'm trying to setup a table as a template (just in model space) that can be copied and reused several times. I've formatted it how I want it to look and would like to try and copy cells from an excel sheet, keeping the format of the Autocad table. But every time I do it resets the format, font and color. Even when I select the cell and change the color of text in the properties palette, it doesn't change back again? Only when I highlight the actual text and change it in the text editor does it change color. I've even tried locking the format before pasting the excel data. (paste special - autocad entities)
I dont want to change the format in excel as it is auto generated as plain text.
I am trying to use annotative scale for the first time. What I am trying to use it for is the following:
I have blocks setup for the legend on our drawings. Say if I hatch a footpath in a drawings, I have a legend item that I insert into paperspace that has a sample of that hatch and the text "Existing footpath". Can I set the annotative scale in paperspace so that no matter what the viewport scale the legend item in paperspace will look similar to it.
Luckily, I found an CAD template that already have scaled text and dimension size setup. now, I have to set different scale in the model space according on which scale i wanna plot on view port.
but for annotative scale, what scale should i use in model space? Overall, I just want all my text to be in same size when print out and in a readable size.
I setup my paper in 22x34 but mostly print out in 11x17 paper for office use.
So when using C3D, I have my right-click setup so that when I click on an object, say a multi-leader, surface, etc, a long menu pops up with object-specific options. Such as multi-leader styles and scales, pipe network options, etc.
So today, AutoCAD decided to be lazy and not show that menu. I've tried turning off the R-C customization, then turning it back on, switching the custom options around, applying, then setting them back to the way I had them, starting a new drawing, restarting CADD, and finally restarting my computer. NOTHING.
This has happened to me several times in the past and it just starts working properly again at some point. To draft, modifying C3D objects, without the r-c menu is such a time consuming PITA.
I am trying to setup some palettes to use at work and am using blocks to do so. What I've found is that my palettes work if I have left the blocks in place in the file in which I am creating the palettes. However, if I have deleted the blocks from the file, the blocks in the paletette will not work. Is this normal or is there something deeper?
Not sure what causes a page setup already created and previously used to not be able to be selected at a later time. When selecting it, it reverts back to <none>. Does this mean the plotter changed/is not available? The network name for the plotter did not change, but the model of the plotter changed slightly. I have the same setup saved in 100's of drawings and assumed that as long as the network name for the plotter remained the same, the setup would continue to work.
I just gave one of my drafters a new PC with AutoCAD 2013 and 2012 on it. We migrated the settings from her old pc with with 2012 to the new PC. All settings are correct except for the plotter. She had custom page setup that was used on all her drawings and that did not transfer. We setup a new one with the same settings but that requires us to reapply to every drawing.
Isn't there an easy way to do transfer these settings? If we choose the page setup most of the time it just goes back to none and a lot of the time it isn't even an option.
I have been using the MVSetup command to adjust a view port orientation however when I do this the Pickfirst command is changed to 0 - it was only by chance I discovered this and was able to change it back. Also, is there a command to reset all changes made through MVSetup in a viewport ?
