AutoCAD Inventor :: Setup New Dim Style As A Default?
Jan 16, 2012I created a copy of one of the standard styles, saved it but can not find an option "set as current" so I can save the template with that set up.

I am using Inventor version 2011. I wrote this code which tells me which object defaults style is active
Public Sub ActiveObjectDefaults()
Dim oDocument As DrawingDocument
Set oDocument = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument
Dim DrgStMgr As DrawingStylesManager
Set DrgStMgr = oDocument.StylesManager
Dim ObjDfStyle As Style
Set ObjDfStyle = DrgStMgr.ActiveStandardStyle.ActiveObjectDefaults
MsgBox ObjDfStyle.Name
End Sub
Is it possible to change Active Object Defaults Style by VBA code (see picture below)?
I am trying to change Object Defaults in order to temporarily switch style which use layers with different line weights, and than switch it back. I am new to VBA so I am not sure if I am not trying to do something what is impossible.
I am fed up with constantly changing the colour, justification, font and font size of text in sketches in the part environment. The text style drop down box is greyed out in the part environment so i can't set up a style and just change it.
Where i need to go to change what the default-iso style defaults to? Any registry key change i can use to make the test style drop down box available in the part sketch environment?
I created a template and changed some style properties. I can not save to master location and when I open the template is tells me it is going to override my custom style.
How do I save out my custom style to the defalut location?
I am trying to change the default label styles for AddSegmentLabel under general styles using .NET...
Dim X As Autodesk.Civil.Settings.SettingsCmdAddSegmentLabel = CD.Settings.GetSettings(Of Autodesk.Civil.Settings.SettingsCmdAddSegmentLabel)()
X.Styles.LineLabel.Value = strChildStyleName ... says name does not exist
or
X.Styles.LineLabelStyleId.Value = oidChildStyle ... "The type of objectId is wrong"
If I manually change it to a child style and then check the values, they are the same as what I'm trying to set them to. If you use a "parent" style then these both work. Am I doing something wrong or this another limitation?

Any way to change the "View" of parts on file open? When I open an .ipt or .iam the Visual style view is always "Shaded". I want this to be "Shaded with Edges".
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have, as our standard library default dimension style, a 1/32 fractional style, called "1/32-FRACTION". Various Object Types, like Linear Dimension are set to this Object Style. When I create a drawing, then these Object Defaults are in effect.
This means that, doing nothing while executing a dimension command, I get fractional dimensions by default. This works good.
However, sometimes I want to create a drawing where the default dimension style is "X.XXX-DECIMAL" without changing the Object Defaults found in the style library. I've tried to make the changes from within the style library and then save this as a template. However, when I try to make a drawing based on this template, Inventor states that the styles in the template differ from the styles in the library" and then busily goes about undoing what I careful did.
So I'm hoping there is something in the API I can call on to do this with a macro. Is it possible to write a macro that after you start a drawing, flips all the various Object Styles from "1/32-FRACTION" to "X.XXX-DECIMAL"?
In our drawing office we use Inventor in a mining materials handling environment. Our output is mainly structural drawings where we require a bill of materials as part of creating a drawing. Whenever I insert a BOM in the drawing environment I get this table which is labeled in a foreign language (it looks like an Eastern European language) and the format is not as per the standard Autodesk installation setup.
How do I either revert back to the standard setup or do a BOM setup from scratch?
We use IV 2013 Professional on Windows 7 64 bit.
I've completed my drawing (Autocad architectural 2012) and set-up my multiple view-ports (at 1:50 and 1:5 scale) on my title-block.
I'm now going to add my text and dimensions im model space....and that's when the problems start!
I've created text and dimensions in annotative style.
The issue I have is when I change annotation scale from 1:50 to 1:5 my text and dimensions in model space automatically changes (as can be seen on attachment) to a huge scale but is perfect in layout view for differing scales.
I need to modify the page setup of multple drawings and have it save that way so everytime I open the drawing the chosen page setup is selected.
I'm aware of being able to set multiple page setups in the publish screen, but that isnt a permenant change to the drawings themselves, and not what I'm looking for.
Why does InDesign CS5.5 not justify paragraphs via style sheets setup to do that? And when is Adobe to going to learn about what designers actually do when formatting a book? It's implausible that after all these years they still leave us with so many extra mouse clicks and time wasting searches for things that are very simple to program.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow I could go about changing the default Proof Setup from Working CMYK too Monitor RGB.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have calibrated my monitor (IIyama VisionMaster Pro 454), scanner (Epson 2450 with Silverfast) and printer (Canon i950) so that I get prints that resemble as good and bad as possible what I scan/ see on the monitor. I normally work in Adobe RGB, but I also do some webwork. Which is why I also preview in sRGB or even Monitor RGB.
I would like to use Proof Setup to view my files default in sRGB, but whatever I do, Photoshop always opens default with CMYK. I tried Custom, choose sRGB and then save, but that does not change Photoshop's CMYK obsession.
I know one can easily change the sizes of the New documents by opening the text file that contains them. So I was wondering whether there was also a method/trick to change this default proof/CMYK setting.
How do I set the default text style? there must be a global setting in Options or something similar, I know I can set in a Template, but is there a global setting somewhere?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI read that it's not possible to import a style (styxml file) into the style editor through the API, there is no dedicated command.
However I'm wondering if there's a a way to have the internal name corresponding to the button as we can do for the ribbon buttons (there's a sample code which does this).
So is it possible ot get the internal name of a button inside a dialog box (style editor here) or is it really hopeless to think I can import a style with a macro ?
By the way, that would be for Inventor 2009.
We own Civil 3d 2010 and are using the Map workspaces.
It seems Map is hard-coded to use the table style 'Legend' when inserting a legend table, yet you can modify the table style of the legend table after it has been inserted.
Is there a way to change the default table style from 'Legend' to something else?
When bringing in some figures that don't match the figure prefix database in a drawing with a set default style for figures (settings tab>survey>edit feature settings) it is being ignored and the "standard" style is being created and used. Is there another setting?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am working with a template, that doesn't allow me to change the dimension style. In the project the Use Style Library is set to Read/Write. I have created my dimension style, at this point just a copy of the ANSI standard with a text size difference. I went to my template and set that syle as my default, and saved it. Now the fact that it doesn't automatically update the drawing I had alreadycreated is a nuisance, however if I creat a new drawing, the style has reverted to a different standard, that is not even the ANSI default. If I right click a dimension and change the dimstyle to what I saved it does update, but if I try to change the style again it defaults to a random dimstyle, AND changes the style even if I hit cancel. So... the question is how to make the changes stick?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCivil 3D 2011, updates installed - I have a user who is manually importing points into his drawing. He has set the default label style in his command settings to a specific style, but no matter what he does the points come in with the previously set default style (the out-of-the-box label style). We've tested this in a new drawing with the same results. We've tested this on several computers with the same results.
My initial thought was that something on the network was holding this setting somehow. We disconnected his computer from the network with the same results.
What could be causing this label style to stick?
I have set the default style for the drawing to a certain style by going to toolspace - settings and right clicking on point and clicking on edit feature settings ...under default styles i set it to the one I want for both point style and point label style......how come when I create a few manual points and then go to the prospector tab and right click on _all points, the point label style is not set to the default one I set it to as I described above? The points are not coming in the way I want them to?

I applied a default plot style table in the ‘Options > Plot and Publish > Plot Style Table Settings’ dialog box, but it doesn’t seem to take effect for existing drawings or when I create new drawings.

My goal is that when I open a drawing where the plot style table is set to ‘None’ it will instead apply my default CTB file.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed that my data reffed pipes were reverting back to their default styles in my production drawings. This wasn't a problem with SP1. I made a support call to our reseller and they mentioned that the only work around was to completely uninstall Civil3d, then reinstall back to SP1. He mentioned that he was passing the information on to Autodesk and he would let me know if they had a fix. Naturally that kind of timing or solution doesn't really work for me. This problem will effect any drawing I have that has pipes in it.
I want to know what you have done to work around this? Is there a better solution than uninstalling Civil3d?
Can I apply a default style to points with a raw description not in the description key sets?
When I import survey points into the drawing my description keys will assign specifed styles (and therefore layers) to descriptions it recognises, and a default style (and layer) to ones it does not recognise.
Then if i change raw descriptions in the drawing I can "Apply description keys" and have the styles and layers change based on the changes I made to the raw description. This is fine for descriptions in the key set.
Can I get Civil3D to apply the default style to points that did have a description that is in the DKS but has now been changed to one that is not? As it works for me now, these points remain unchanged in there layer and style.
Civil3D 2014 - Windows7 64bit
I am working on numerous 3D renders at the moment, all will have the same lighting, colours, focal length / DOF, position etc. The only thing that will change is the 3D object itself (vector smart object text with an icon).
Now, when I have finished rendering one, save it then want to change the image in the smart object (edit source), save to update - this will not update the 3D layer! Ideally this is the workflow I would like to use, but it just won't work. I now have to replicate all the settings on a new 3D extrusion from a layer...
Is there a way to set it so when I do create a new extrusion from a layer, it would default to the used settings?Or can I fix it so the smart object actually updates?
