A way to associate a default profile style with a surface. In other words, I would like to set a different default profile style for each surface. Same could be true for sections.
View 6 RepliesC3D 2013. We have profile line labels, some of which get manually edited (for example, change the "<[Tangent grade(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|SD|OF)]>" to a static number such as 0.29%).
However, if you CTRL+Click and select one of these labels and change the style of that one label, then the manual edits are lost and the label reverts back to the default string.
Is there any way to turn this behavior off?
I have a group of profiles in a drawing and I want to change how one of the profiles is displayed through the profile view style manager, but I do not want to change how all of the profiles look. Is there a way to change the way a single profile looks without changing all of them?

If I manually change it to a child style and then check the values, they are the same as what I'm trying to set them to. If you use a "parent" style then these both work. Am I doing something wrong or this another limitation?

Im creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a profile showing proposed storm sewer, existing sanitary, rock surface, existing surface, and proposed profile. Today for some reason the proposed profile and labels, and the existing surface are not showing on the profile and I'm not sure what has changed or how to get them back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have an engineer who is taking an existing surface and wants to show a proposed road 2" higher than existing.
I told him to simply adjust his assembly for his corridor to account for the 2" difference, but the County agency needs to see a profile.
My questions:
1) Is there a way to easily copy a profile made from a surface and "convert" it to a proposed profile? If we copy and explode, it turns into hundreds (thousands?) of tiny pline segments and it would be a mess to convert all those to a profile 1 by 1. If we make the corridor, and choose "profile from corridor", we do not have an option that could be used to represent the centerline.
2) Other than loss of dynamic updating), would it make sense to adjust the assembly so the top surface would be accurate, then copy the profile, explode the copy to a block and simply shift that (as essentially basic linework)?
Attached are survey points that created the surface of a road embankment portion that caved-in. The road is very near a reservoir shoreline.
1. How can a surface profile be produce? I/'ve use line to change it into an alignement and then create a proile , then a profile view. But the the surface profile is missing.
2.the points having higher elevation are the top edge( road level) of the cave-n . A few few shots were take before the shorline elevations.
3. What the best way to come up with the rock volume to fill the cave-in given this surveying points., Also the shoreline elevation will be lowered some more while work is being done since the fill is not allowed to fall in the reservoir.
Trying to make some changes to improve reading. The pipes are going to center of structure and would like to change the appearance but maintain the lenght to the center or in last case to the structure wall.

The Civil 3D file has a profile view showing 4 profiles, and 4 different profile styles are used for the purpose of comparison. When xrefing this file, the profiles are not shown the way they are defined in the profile style. It seems their appearances are controlled by layer properties. I just wonder if it is possible to transfer profile style through XREF?
In the Band Style_A pdf you can see the location of my elevation labels, they are below the bottom line of my profile view grid. In the Band Style_B pdf the labels are showing up in the proper location (above the bottom line of the profile view grid). To move the labels to the proper location I changed the "Gap" setting from 12.5 to -24. Is there a way to change this setting in my "style" rather than have to go make this change to the style every time I use it in a profile?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI customized a surface style to show relative elevations, with lighter tones representing higher elevations, and darker tones representing lower elevations. With a single glance, I know the high and low spots in my project area.
C3d provides several default surface elevation styles. None of them comes close to providing the instant, data-at-a-glance information that my customized style does, which I use to design stormwater systems. Again, it's really useful to see, with one look, where the high and low spots are in my project area.
I can't figure out how to export, transfer, copy, whatever, my customized style from one drawing to a new drawing. If I want to see my customized style, I have to recreate it from scratch in each and every drawing where I want to use it.
How to transfer a surface style from one drawing to another? By the way, I tried opening up both drawings, with both toolspace/settings windows open. Tried dragging and dropping the customized style to the new drawing. Didn't work.
I have a surface with all sorts of heights, and want to add color to different heights. Getting the color there is not that difficult, but how do I swap them around? i.e. red is 'low ground' and blue is 'high ground'. In Holland we use it the other way around though, so blue should be low ground and red high ground.
Where exactly do I change this? I've tried it in the surface style tab, surface properties tab, analysis tab, and some others, but no success so far.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have alignments that go in and out of a surface boundary (this is because I have a surface that represents the bottom of pavement.) I want to show the surface profile with the gaps in the profile view (where there is no surface. However in the profile view the gaps are sometimes connected with a straight line instead of being blank.
How can I have a surface profile represent the bottom of pavement properly? (An alignment that is not fully withing the surface boundary.) I know I could add the profile multiple time with different start/end stations But, I don't want that, I want it to be dynamic, as the alignment will change.
I have the profile of my pressure network and storm crossings converted into ellipses but I can't get my surface to show on the profile to show the amount of cover I have between the existing ground and top of pipe.

I go to the Contents (under Text) and edit it to bring up the Text component Editor.
In this if I go to the Format Tab the text style is set to annotative, however under that it says font style as an overide. How do I remove the override and set the style of the text to the text style. And how do i change the text style.
how to create a label style for design center of road (simple tangent) in profile that will work between multiple profile views. I've used the 'Create Multiple Views' profile view wizard. I use a horizontal dimension style label for CL road (looks just like an autocad linear dimension). I'd like the label work across separate views i.e. stop at view end, pick back up at view start.
The label I currently use is simply a line component from tangent start dimension to tangent end dimension and the text component is anchored to the line midpoint. Label looks as intended for normal use. For some reason the line drops as if looking for the actual pvi at the right side when i use multiple views.
I'm dealing with a city that based their drawings on LDD, and they chose to show pipes as just one line on a profile, representing the invert line. In LDD, they pretty much left their pipe profiles as "draft profile" or whatever is used to be called. Now I have to mimic their standard, using Civil 3D. There isn't a handy-dandy style setting that I can find, to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working with plan production sheets and having some trouble. My vertical exaggeration makes me want to split the profile, but when I do it, they get glued together. My left vertical grid numeration stays on the middle of the grid and I get a lot of information overlapped. What I need is to put some gap between these, or split'em. Other issue is that the axis offset of my Profile Style isn't being applied, as well as other configs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have projected Civil 3D COGO Points projected to a profile. I simply want to display the Civil 3D Point Number for each point in the profile.
In the Profile Projection Label Style, the only field in the text editor that displays this point number is the "Source Object Name. This shows up as "CogoPoint 124" for point 124 (see attached). How do I make this simply say the point number ONLY, i.e. "124"?
It would be nice to program the label style to display this field, yet delete the first 10 characters of "CogoPoint x", so it only says the point number, "x"
When bringing in some figures that don't match the figure prefix database in a drawing with a set default style for figures (settings tab>survey>edit feature settings) it is being ignored and the "standard" style is being created and used. Is there another setting?

I am trying to set default plotter and plot style so I dont have to select every time but AutoCAD is not keeping the setting. I went to "Options", "Plot & Publish" and selected my plotter I want to be default but it's not keeping that setting. I know you can turn on slope arrows as a surface style, but I am actually looking for the grade to be displayed next to a slope arrow. Hopefully I am explaining it properly.
I just am looking for a better way to spot errors before putting surfaces into machine control without checking station by station in the section editor.
I have surface style (could be slope or spot elevation) with a 2 line component, and text component above and below the line. I'm trying to create on style for many options. I'm using c3d 2013, but moving to 2014.
I would like to do the following after placing the label:
1. adjust the length of the line component. (ex: as I rotate the lable, the length of seg 1 changes )
2. turn off one of the line component
3. adjust the angle of one of the line component.
4. when drag, the length of the line changes to a new value.
and while I'm asking, is there a way to move/rotate/drag the syle to a percise distance. I want the leader to be 1 unit long at 30 degree angle.
Is there a surface setting / style option where contour labels (elevations) will display at some specified interval as part of the surface rather than going through and adding them as labels afterwards? Seems like a rudimentary operation, where the labeling can be so scattered and random.

When I rotate the label, the goes to plan read, but the bottom line text is on the top, top on the bottom.
I hope it would be simular to mirror.
I look at the expression, but didn't see any way to get the label angles.
I've created a triangulation volume surface to compare two surfaces. Under the analysis tab in Surface Properties I have banded my levels in metre intervals and coloured the bands accordingly. I would now like to display the 'banding' in my drawing. Under the information tab I should be able to select 'Elevation Banding (2D)' as a Surface Style, however this is missing and I can only select 'Standard'... How to get this selection back.

I can do I quick profile and the profile looks like it should but if I generate an actual profile 90% of the profile is off. I have already tried reoding the alignment but it looks same on either one.
