Why does InDesign CS5.5 not justify paragraphs via style sheets setup to do that? And when is Adobe to going to learn about what designers actually do when formatting a book? It's implausible that after all these years they still leave us with so many extra mouse clicks and time wasting searches for things that are very simple to program.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to get my paragraph styles to all be uniform. I imported a template and have multiple text boxes on multiple pages. I deleted pretty much all of the paragraph styles to start fresh. But for some reason, the style that I want to use is in text box 1, and then in all the other text boxes it is a different style. I have created a new style but when I click on it when the text is highlighed, it changes, but that one text box doesn't seem to ever match.

I'd recommend a button in the styleset list that does "Apply styleset to paragraph" (with the possibility to assign a shortcut to it).
The most annoying in the style sheets, view manager since x3 is still existed in the x6 as style sheet sets having unnecessary styles which i have not created besides color styles & view manager as well. Are they not considered anyhow ?
Default style set is ok and Styles is also ok to create our own but Why this nuisance of style sets which are having a lot of dump. Truly view manager is unnecessary docker i think but have lots of zoomed data.
I created a copy of one of the standard styles, saved it but can not find an option "set as current" so I can save the template with that set up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one drawing per file at model tab. When I need to plot a multiple page file, I use:
Print > Batch Plot.
The problem is that I have to set plot configurations ( plot style table, plot area, paper size, etc) in each file before use Batch Plot.
Now I received 722 files with a wrong Plot Style Table. For this time I change the associated *.ctb file at Plot Style folder, but I will need to associate the right *.ctb to each drawing. It's also common to have to change other properties.
I've completed my drawing (Autocad architectural 2012) and set-up my multiple view-ports (at 1:50 and 1:5 scale) on my title-block.
I'm now going to add my text and dimensions im model space....and that's when the problems start!
I've created text and dimensions in annotative style.
The issue I have is when I change annotation scale from 1:50 to 1:5 my text and dimensions in model space automatically changes (as can be seen on attachment) to a huge scale but is perfect in layout view for differing scales.
I am working on a document - about 100 pages, mostly text with a couple of images.
Unfortulatly Indesign keeps crashing when I change the settings in the paragraph styles. eg changing the indents on a list item, or the amount of space before on the body text.
I am on Indesign creative cloud, and Mac Version 10.9.2
Trying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
I finally paid one of those conversion companies to convert this QuarkXPress file that I was working with to InDesign, since InDesign seems like such a better program. Everything seemed to transfer over smoothly, and I have now been editing this document in InDesign. Unfortuantely, after a bunch of new edits, I realized the one thing that didn't seem to transfer over was the index. The old Quark file had an index with about 900+ entries in it. Is there any quick way to add all those entries back without having to go through the document and highlight the text manually, one by one by one? That would take forever. Pretty much everything that's gonna be indexed is after a paragraph marker of the paragraph style called "gray box."
Also, since each entry is bold, it was set up as having a paragraph style named "title." If IND could find anything with that style and add it as an entry, that may make my job way easier? Or will I be stuck selecting text over the next day and manually adding entries?
Is there a reason why I cannot get the sentences in my paragraphs closer together?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a long document with text variable running headers along page edges. Behind each running header on the Master Pages, there is a black band. I want the color black to change to several different fill colors, when the running header changes, to define different "sections."
It's one document, no separate chapters or sections, at this point. See attached image.
Is there a way to tie the fill color of these colored bands to the running header so that it changes when the running header does? I think what I'm looking for is a way to make a variable object style (fill) to be triggered by the running header change. I have no experience writing scripts, but am willing to try. Plan B will be to unlink the master items and manually recolor on each page.
shouldn't sheets marked as "exclude from count" not be counted?
I tried this in both 2013 and 2012 to see if maybe AutoDesk broke it, but it doesn't work in either one. This is easily reproducible for me, a file shouldn't be necessary. Just open up (or create) a multi sheet drawing. Go to edit sheet on one or two of them and check the "exclude form count" box. Now create a new iLogic rule and put the following line into it:
MsgBox("This is the number of sheets in the drawing: " & ThisDoc.Document.Sheets.Count, VBOkOnly, "Number of Sheets")
It just appears as one line however big i make the text box and the text overlaps so its all one illegiable line.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'd like to create a few paragraphs that have the same treatment as the one I have attached.
The key thing is to have the first letter of the first word of each line line-up under each other so that the left margin creates the appearance of a straight line.
I did the attached having each line in it's own text box, transforming them to an identical angle and then lining them up on the left side.
Is there a way to do this to a whole paragraph? I know I could just transform a whole paragraph to a different angle but the first letter of each line would not line-up with each other and create a straight line.
I've been playing with the text styles and my text boxes are getting closer to the format that I want. There easy to read in the preview section. But the spaces between paragraphs looks to big, so I want to reduce it.
Corel Draw has a docker for paragraph formatting where we can place spaces above or below a paragraph.
I want to sort paragraphs in alphabetically order for a glossary. If this is possible I will glad to know. If that can't be undone in coreldraw, how to export text for ms word. When i copy and paste in word 2013 it loose all formatting. I try paste special but there is no option for keep formatting. My all glossary text is type in paragraph frame.

2. I can bring up the paragraph window. The Justify button won't engage. If I select an area of the text with a box tool it engages to click it but nothing happens.
3. I tried cut and paste in word.
In our drawing office we use Inventor in a mining materials handling environment. Our output is mainly structural drawings where we require a bill of materials as part of creating a drawing. Whenever I insert a BOM in the drawing environment I get this table which is labeled in a foreign language (it looks like an Eastern European language) and the format is not as per the standard Autodesk installation setup.
How do I either revert back to the standard setup or do a BOM setup from scratch?
We use IV 2013 Professional on Windows 7 64 bit.
I'm trying to create a Signature for my photos. The problem is, it's difficult to come up with a signature in the lower right corner that works with both portrait and landscape orientation. What I'd like to do is, "right justify" the text in the lower right corner.
Anyone know of a way to do that?
I am using PS CS on windows XP pro. The problem I've encountered is not being able to justify text. This particular text was created by just clicking the text tool and typing. I have another type layer that was created by drawing a text box and I can justify this type all day. Am I correct in that only type layers created by first drawing a text box can be justified.

Now I want to write text in the middle of the rectangle, I was able o find the middle point using osnap and a diagonal line (the point would be 3 units of height and 15 of long) but when I start writing text (with dtext) the text starts writing from that middle point to the right, If its a long text its not in the middle it starts in the middle :/ what can I do so the text will be exactly at the center?
