Apr 15, 2012Why does InDesign CS5.5 not justify paragraphs via style sheets setup to do that? And when is Adobe to going to learn about what designers actually do when formatting a book? It's implausible that after all these years they still leave us with so many extra mouse clicks and time wasting searches for things that are very simple to program.

Mar 26, 2014So, I'm linking table of contents text block to about 20 separate articles. Until about four days ago when I made edits to the the source TOC the articles would signal that an update was available. They no longer do this. And Yes the link to the text shows up in the links panel. The source file name has not changed and the location is the same.

Dec 12, 2012When we publish we are always asked if we wish to save the current list of sheets.
See attached screenshot.
One of my users no longer gets this option.
Every time he publishes the program goes directly to the Save List As dialog box so he can name/save a .DSD file. He no longer gets the option of a box asking him if he wants to save the current list of sheets.
My guess is some variable got changed that has removed the option of being prompted about saving the .DSD file.
P.S. We're using AutoCAD 2012.
InDesign :: Art Is No Longer Centered Upon Page Resize
Jun 24, 2013Before I flame off on this crap CC version of ID: Why isn't my art centered when I resize my document? I have the center box selected at the upper left as I always do but as soon as I change the page size, the orientation is top left and all the art is hanging to the right and below my new page size. I'm not doing photo retouching. I can't read any of my menus.

May 25, 2012The most annoying in the style sheets, view manager since x3 is still existed in the x6 as style sheet sets having unnecessary styles which i have not created besides color styles & view manager as well. Are they not considered anyhow ?
Default style set is ok and Styles is also ok to create our own but Why this nuisance of style sets which are having a lot of dump. Truly view manager is unnecessary docker i think but have lots of zoomed data.
InDesign :: Gradient Feather No Longer Displays And Only The Sharp Edges Of The Photo Are Visible?
Apr 22, 2014I have two images/photos to which I applied a gradient feather effect. The documment printed fine, but when the PDF is viewed online in Fire Fox, the gradient feather no longer displays and only the sharp edges of the photo are visible. Is there a specific setting when saving to PDF that I need to select for best viewing online? I'm on a Mac CS 5.5.

Mar 22, 2012Using Inventor 2012, up to date on patches, realistic style (which I could use two days ago) is no longer selectable. Also when I go to the Style and Standard Editor, the Realist Appearance section has the warning triangle with the message, "Autodesk Material Library is not available".

Feb 8, 2007For some reason, even though the preview button is checked my blending options for one file aren't showing the changes to my image as I make them. In addition, when I exit the blending options screen, the options I've chosen are automatically greyed out--not visible.
It's only doing this on 1 file.
InDesign :: Paragraphs Look Different Even Though They Share The Same Style?
Apr 10, 2014I am trying to get my paragraph styles to all be uniform. I imported a template and have multiple text boxes on multiple pages. I deleted pretty much all of the paragraph styles to start fresh. But for some reason, the style that I want to use is in text box 1, and then in all the other text boxes it is a different style. I have created a new style but when I click on it when the text is highlighed, it changes, but that one text box doesn't seem to ever match.

Unfortulatly Indesign keeps crashing when I change the settings in the paragraph styles. eg changing the indents on a list item, or the amount of space before on the body text.
I am on Indesign creative cloud, and Mac Version 10.9.2

Mar 14, 2014After moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.

Apr 8, 2014I finally paid one of those conversion companies to convert this QuarkXPress file that I was working with to InDesign, since InDesign seems like such a better program. Everything seemed to transfer over smoothly, and I have now been editing this document in InDesign. Unfortuantely, after a bunch of new edits, I realized the one thing that didn't seem to transfer over was the index. The old Quark file had an index with about 900+ entries in it. Is there any quick way to add all those entries back without having to go through the document and highlight the text manually, one by one by one? That would take forever. Pretty much everything that's gonna be indexed is after a paragraph marker of the paragraph style called "gray box."
Also, since each entry is bold, it was set up as having a paragraph style named "title." If IND could find anything with that style and add it as an entry, that may make my job way easier? Or will I be stuck selecting text over the next day and manually adding entries?

Dec 23, 2005I was trying to use a couple of filters when I noticed that some of them are no longer working. They are still there but can not even be selected to be used. I don't believe that I may have changed an option to bring this about but I may have.

Apr 15, 2014I'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Copy Styles Not Working In Plan Production Create Sheets?
Oct 16, 2013I'm currently doing some testing of 2014 SP1 and noticed the Copy Styles routine when creating Plan Production Sheets doesn't seem to function as it did in 2012?
Using 2014 SP1, I data referenced a Pipe Network into a Plan Prod. sheet that was created before the Pipe networks were created. After data referencing the first Pipe Network into the plan sheet, I tried to label my pipes and structures, noticed none of our custom styles got copied (during create sheets command) into the sheet?
In 2012 they did.We have a lot of these Plan Production dwt's here and it's going to be a major PITA if all Plan Production.dwt's will need to have all Styles within them.
The nice thing about the way it used to work is the styles only needed to be maintained in a couple base.dwt's.
In addition to these Pipe & Structure label styles missing the list goes on throughout the Settings tab. Only present styles seem to be of "in use" nature such as pfl style, Alignment style, pfl view style etc. where the sheet creation process pulled specific information into the sheet dwg from source dwg.
Also did a quick test of our 2012 configuration and majority of , if not all, styles from source dwt do get copied over eliminating the need for them within the Plan Production dwt's. 2012 SP3 used here.

Nov 14, 2005i am on a Mac, running the first version of Photoshop CS...i kept getting windows about my scratch disks being full, so our IT guy showed me how to go into the preferences and select the scartch disks...ever since then some of the quick key commands no longer work...
for example, holding down the space bar to get the hand to move the screen no longer works, holding down the space bar and the apple (command key) to get the maginfying glass doesn't work, and when i go to transform something, i used to be able to hold down the shift key to maintain the proportions of the object i was transforming, that also no longer works...
Photoshop :: Brush Size On Keyboard No Longer Working?
Jun 23, 2011I am having problems with the keyboard for adjusting the brush size (for eraser/clone stamp/brush etc) I used to use the ][ keys for this but they no longer work, i've tried just about every combination under the sun using the shift, command or alt keys but nothing seems to work.
I am constantly shifting the size of the brush up and down as I work so if I have to go and click on the brush tab every time and type in a new size it's going to make work incredibly slow. I live in spain and the mac keyboard is a spanish one but I have tried with my old keyboard that used to work fine on the old mac but not on the new one?

Mar 28, 2014I have a long document with text variable running headers along page edges. Behind each running header on the Master Pages, there is a black band. I want the color black to change to several different fill colors, when the running header changes, to define different "sections."
It's one document, no separate chapters or sections, at this point. See attached image.
Is there a way to tie the fill color of these colored bands to the running header so that it changes when the running header does? I think what I'm looking for is a way to make a variable object style (fill) to be triggered by the running header change. I have no experience writing scripts, but am willing to try. Plan B will be to unlink the master items and manually recolor on each page.
CorelDRAW X6 :: Vignette Transparency No Longer Working In Photo Paint
Apr 9, 2012I am running the 32 bit trial of X6 and the transparent vignette bitmap effect no longer works. I have converted the bitmap to CMYK transparent and back to not transparent several times in CorelDraw X6 and it still does not work. I have event tried making the bitmap an RGB transparent background and it still does not work.
Then when I click "Edit Bitmap..." it DOES open as a bitmap with a transparent background but the vignette function in Photo-Paint X6 does not work with the transparency either. It forces a background color. There is no longer an easy way to fade the edges of a photo.

Jun 14, 2012shouldn't sheets marked as "exclude from count" not be counted?
I tried this in both 2013 and 2012 to see if maybe AutoDesk broke it, but it doesn't work in either one. This is easily reproducible for me, a file shouldn't be necessary. Just open up (or create) a multi sheet drawing. Go to edit sheet on one or two of them and check the "exclude form count" box. Now create a new iLogic rule and put the following line into it:
MsgBox("This is the number of sheets in the drawing: " & ThisDoc.Document.Sheets.Count, VBOkOnly, "Number of Sheets")
