I am using Inventor professional 2014.
I heard that in this version,
a drawing printing can now be saved so that each time I have a format A to print, it prints format A by default.
Each time I have a format B to print, it prints format B by default.
Now, if i have a drawing format A and another drawing format B to print, i have to change the format prining page each time.
I see a "new printing UI" is scheduled for v4, so maybe this will be included in that anyway, but a quick request: it'd be great of PDN would honour the default paper size when printing. I currently need to change from Letter to A4 (which isn't even on the "most popular" list, so it needs a further click to choose "other" first), despite this being the default paper size for the printer selected.
Either using the default paper size of the selected printer, or failing that, remember the previously selected paper size in PDN would save a good amount of frustration for those of us in Europe where A4 is the usual paper size ;-)

The base of this object is just a cylinder with diameter of 3.599 mm. (see attached image M1).
Now I wanted to 3D print this object. Inventor creates the *.STL-file.
The Inventor 3D print dialog shows a witdh and length of arround 4.12 mm by a scaling of 1.000 !?!
Why it is bigger than what I created? It should be 3.6 mm.
If I upload this to shapeways they show also 0.4 cm width / length. So my object will printed a littlebit larger than I created !?!
Even if I change the resolution inside the STL-dialog it does not change anything. Why the STL-Object is bigger than the model I created?
Is it possible to setup inventor to print (for example) to BY DEFAULT print A size in letter format, B size in 11x17 ect?

I need to "Programatically", using Visual Studio, set the default printers paper size to either "A4" or "A3".
I have the following code that gets the required paper size ("A4" or "A3") from the registry and checks that the default printer supports "A3". If it does I want to set the paper size to "A3".

Having problems with the updated new file dialog and I'm not talking personal problems. I switched it to detail view and widened up the name column so I could see the whole name. I could actually live with that setup however the next time I opened the new file dialog all the columns returned to their default size and the sort also reverted.
Is it just me or does the new file dialog not remember any changes to it's layout?
When you have a part with a thread feature, the default setting should show the thread feature in the drawing view...rather than making the user right click the view and select "Display Thread Feature". I don't understand why this doesn't show up in the drawing automatically...it is, after all, a feature on the part.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created an assembly that has a parts list, and in this parts list I have up to 100 mono detail drawings. I would like to know if there is a way to print all of these drawing from that list in a massive plot.
At my previous company we had something like this in AutoCAD where a script was created to look at the drawings and print all drawings mentioned in the assembly BOM and subsequent sub-assemblies, it worked beautifully.
I find that I have to print all drawings to paper or PDF individually.
Is there a way, using VBA to get the sheet size of a drawing without opening the drawing? I know how to get it with the drawing open, so alternatively, is there a way to open all the drawings in a folder, one at a time, then get sheet.size, then close and open the next?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can control the size of my main drawing views using ilogic based on the models extents as there is a direct relationship between a parts length and the drawing view width. however, I have several isometric views that I scale according to the model size but in certain configurations of my model the ISO’s are completely the wrong scale for that particular view where the main views are ok.
I have a set area on my drawing sheet for the iso view and it would be more beneficial to control the size of the view rather than the scale of the view. I can read the height and width of a view so why can’t I control the size of a view but the height or width?

I am trying to put together a lisp routine for exporting a Civil3D drawing to basic autocad entities and convert it to a clients layer standards.
I don't want any user input, so I see two problems with the routine at the moment.
Step 2. SAVEAS - I want the drawing to be saved in the same directory as the current drawing, either called "CLIENT_export.dwg" or preferably "Export_{current drawing name}.dwg". If the dwg exists I want it either to overwrite or increment a suffix number.
Step 4. At the moment it askes the user for a selection, I want it to select "ALL"

I don't have any experience with LISP or any other programming. I have just been cobbling this together from bits and pieces I have found on the web.
I am having problems printing to drawing sizes other then A Size (Letter).
I have scanned through the messages in this Newsgroup and tried everything that I have found, including making sure that I set the properties in a specific order.
No matter what size I specify, the printer spits out the drawing on an A Size piece of paper.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm used to HP ploters, but our division got a canon last year. I'm not able to plot a 36x48 sheet on this plotter. For some reason, the plotter cuts off the length/width at 36". It's like the plotter is forcing it to cut at 36". When I choose to the paper size, "ARCH E borderless" shows. The plot preview looks fine, but the hard copy is always cut off.
