AutoCAD Inventor :: Control Break Size In Drawing View Using ILogic?

Feb 24, 2011

is there any way using iLogic or other method to automatically control the size of the 'break' in a drawing view? I have built a model which uses iLogic to control virtually everything, however the large variations in the length of the product mean that there are some interesting results when it comes to the broken drawing views updating.

it would be nice to locate the break at the absolute center of the view and then size it as a percentage of the view size along one axis or perhaps according to some other length based rule.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Controlling Break Size Using ILogic?

Oct 14, 2011

I have an assembly drawing which requires a break in the drawing view due to its height. The drawing view scales accoring to the change in height (so it remains the same physical height on the drawing), however I need to be able to increase/decrease the height (or value) of the break linearly to the height of the assembly.

I had a look at the ilogic 'break sample' and tried to adapt it to my needs, however, i couldnt get it working. I am using Inventor 2012.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Control View Scale According To Part Size

Oct 18, 2012

Inventor 2013 sp1

i want to control the scales of my idw views based on the parts size.

Heres a short intro to what we do, using design assistant we copy an existing project to a new project folder and start designing using the old project as a "template" for the new job.

So, lets say the project i just copied has a part that is 100" "tall", on my drawing sheet the view scale is set to .05 and the view fits nicely on our 8 1/2x11 portrait layout.

Now, the new project's part is only 24" "tall" and using a scale of .05 is no good at all, i need to scale the view up so it will fit nicely in the same layout. This also applies to the associated detail and section views that are on the same sheet.

OK then, Im thinking there should be a way to say if dimx is >=100 then view scale is x and so on if the part is smaller and i would like to do this with the details/sections.

As the pics show, when i change to a smaller size/dia, the views scale needs to be increased. How can this be done... (we do not use vault)

AutoCAD Inventor :: Control Visibility Of Parts In Drawing View

Sep 16, 2011

I'm creating a small product configurator using ilogic. It all works fine, but i've i challenge:controlling the visibility of the components in a drawing view

In simple words, every occurrence of my assembly has an custom Ipropertie calles "Positie". there where 4 values (Bodem, Zij, Kop, Deksel and Overig)In a drawing view i only want to see the parts that has a specific value of the ipropertie "Positie".I found a sample code for VBA, but I cann't get it worked in ilogic.:

Sub HideSecond()
'Assumes you have an open drawing
'Assumes that view 1 of the active sheet is an assembly
'Turns off visibility of assembly's second component in open drawing's first view
[code]....

hind to turn this into ilogic and add the option to check the ipropertie to turn on the visibility

1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:12, 1:!6, 1:24, 1:32, 1:48, etc. on the view label for that view it will diplay ...

SCALE: 1/2" = 1'-0"

and so on for the rest for the standard scale factors.

i know it will be some sort of a loop and it needs to check all views when ran for any changes.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Pass Break From Sectioned View To Separate Isometric View

Jun 27, 2012

I started with a Left side view of a part and created a sectioned view right down the middle so you can see the insides from another view. the part is pretty big so i used a Break to shorten it to fit the page. I also placed a smaller and separate isometric view of the same part and want this view to inherit the same break. How can I do this? If I go into the display options of the iso view, all the cut inheritance options are grayed out and can't be clicked. I've seen this done before, but i'm sure i missed a step somewhere.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Set View In Drawing By Size And Not Scale?

Jan 17, 2013

I can control the size of my main drawing views using ilogic based on the models extents as there is a direct relationship between a parts length and the drawing view width. however, I have several isometric views that I scale according to the model size but in certain configurations of my model the ISO’s are completely the wrong scale for that particular view where the main views are ok.

I have a set area on my drawing sheet for the iso view and it would be more beneficial to control the size of the view rather than the scale of the view. I can read the height and width of a view so why can’t I control the size of a view but the height or width?

actually this would work for me in other case too, creating a text with more than one line, instead of creat many text boxes.

is there any way to control which areas of my part or assembly that I want to use the View Break on? Currently I'm not aware of any options. It wants to break through the entire assembly or part view.

Basically I have a coworker who designs his electrical harnesses in Inventor. Some of the wiring branches off the main harness are longer than others and he would like to break only that specific branch of wiring, not the entire horizontal or vertical area of the view.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Control Browser Folders?

Working on a product configurator using iLogic and have a large amount of hardware that needs to be suppress or unsuppressed based on certain parameter choices.  Instead of creating hundreds of lines of code suppressing and unsuppressing the hardware one by one, I was hoping to put hardware into folders based configurations.  In my mind this would have allowed me to have one line that would suppress the folder as needed.  Unfortunately I cannot figure how to suppress a folder in iLogic as I saw someone else mention I was hoping for a "Folder.IsActive" rule but have yet to find one.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Using Excel And ILogic To Control IParts

Jan 9, 2012

I am currently using iparts/assemblies to model a resistor bank. We have dozens of different configurations and currently each time we need a new one its is re modeled from scratch.

I have created an assembly with all my relevant parts and controlled it through parameters to auto update when key values are changed.

What I would ideally like to do is to either link my two iparts to the iassembly though the excel sheets they use. Currently I have to added each variation to the parts first and then added the parameters to the assembly.

Would it be possible to have a master sheet were all control values are inputted and then each excel sheet for the different parts are linked to this?

As the excel sheets are saved in the temp file and are deleted once you have finished editing I have found it hard to do this so far. Can I change where they are saved? I tried save copy as which created the file but inventor did not link to it.

If this is not possible can I utilize iLogic to input the key values and then write them to a new row in the table. I have created a rule already to limit the number of elements and also the length of the by's (the space between each supporting rod). I have included a zip file with all my parts in it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic To Control Number Of Parts

Dec 7, 2011

I need to use/write a iLogic code. I have a assy, in this assy i have parameter Height and Width. And it´s no problem to controlls this two rules/value.

But I have a problem with the rule when my height will control the number of parts

If my height is 500-1000, one part.
If my height is 1000-1500, two parts.
If my height is 1500-2000, three parts.

Is it best to use suppress or use a pattern in this case?

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Make Section View Inherit A Break Out

Oct 6, 2013

I have a view of an assembly where I used a break out to break through a part. I want to make a section of this, and have that view respect that the part was broken and show it as broken in the new view.

The section view shows the full part 100% unbroken. In the edit view, the only option for cut inheritance is "break". All others are greyed out.

Why I want to do this: I am unable to break it in the section view because there is no option to break through a single part a specified distance. I cannot break an area "from point" or "to sketch" because they don't let you choose a single part for the effect, and the parts completely included in the break out this way are not going to show up in the parts list, so you cannot adjust their section participation, therefore I also cannot just break an area and then choose what parts don't get the effect.
