View 3 RepliesI started with a Left side view of a part and created a sectioned view right down the middle so you can see the insides from another view. the part is pretty big so i used a Break to shorten it to fit the page. I also placed a smaller and separate isometric view of the same part and want this view to inherit the same break. How can I do this? If I go into the display options of the iso view, all the cut inheritance options are grayed out and can't be clicked. I've seen this done before, but i'm sure i missed a step somewhere.

I have made an exploded view and placed it an a drawing. I would like to view inside one of the bodies to show where the exploded internals sit, however when I do a break out of the body the trail lines from the exploded internals also get sectioned. Is there a way to control the sectional properties of a trail line?
View 4 Replies View Relatedis there any way to control which areas of my part or assembly that I want to use the View Break on? Currently I'm not aware of any options. It wants to break through the entire assembly or part view.
Basically I have a coworker who designs his electrical harnesses in Inventor. Some of the wiring branches off the main harness are longer than others and he would like to break only that specific branch of wiring, not the entire horizontal or vertical area of the view.

How do you turn off the default check for "Propigate to parent view" when creating a breal in a drawing view. I have never had the need to use this option yet it is checked by defalt.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a part that when I adjust its length additional fabs are needed. Now in my idw for this part I want to secure the break lines on the part at a exact distance from the end / each other to display these fabs. Is there a way to parameterize or set the break lines so they adapt to the change in length and move accordingly?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a parametric assembly and some of the parts in this assembly require a "Break". When the part dramatically reduces in size the part view disappears as the part is now located in the "Break". Delete the "Break", re apply the "Break".
I would like to be able to constrain a Break to the part, either a sketch on the view or maybe from Workplanes in the part.
I just installed Inventor 2013 (First Mistake) and when I attempt to creat a breakout view, Inventor crashes. The folks at Autodesk are blaming this on my machine running multiple threads. Aren't all modern computers supposed to be running multiple threads?

I can only get horizontal or vertical 'orientation' in "Break" view.
How do I rotate it to say 60degrees to use on an iso view?
What controls the line weight of the break lines in the detail views? Have tried everything, but still have them shown very thick.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a view of an assembly where I used a break out to break through a part. I want to make a section of this, and have that view respect that the part was broken and show it as broken in the new view.
The section view shows the full part 100% unbroken. In the edit view, the only option for cut inheritance is "break". All others are greyed out.
Why I want to do this: I am unable to break it in the section view because there is no option to break through a single part a specified distance. I cannot break an area "from point" or "to sketch" because they don't let you choose a single part for the effect, and the parts completely included in the break out this way are not going to show up in the parts list, so you cannot adjust their section participation, therefore I also cannot just break an area and then choose what parts don't get the effect.
When creating a break out view on a top level assembly that includes frame generator components, the break out function does not break these parts out. I know it is working because the non-frame generator parts are disappearing and being broken out as you would expect but the frame generated parts seem to be immune to the command. is this a common fault or something wrong with my particular model?
View 2 Replies View Relatedis there any way using iLogic or other method to automatically control the size of the 'break' in a drawing view? I have built a model which uses iLogic to control virtually everything, however the large variations in the length of the product mean that there are some interesting results when it comes to the broken drawing views updating.
it would be nice to locate the break at the absolute center of the view and then size it as a percentage of the view size along one axis or perhaps according to some other length based rule.

I use the same sketch to create a break out view in one type of drawing. I may be blind, but I can't seem to find a way to save that sketch and reuse it when I want to create a break out view.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to use the "Rotate at angle" command outside of the "custom view" environment?
Is there actually any technical reason why the controls in the attached screenshot are not available in the Studio and normal modelling environments?
I have used a driven contraint in a sketch.
Can that also be done in an assembly?
In one assembly I want to make one angle half of a driven angle.
I found this image in a textbook and it's supposed to be a three view first angle projection of the boat. It looks like main view is a plan view (top).
What confuses me about this is that the left view, looks like it's of the left side. But only third angle projections order views this way (left view being of the left side, top view being of the top, right view being of the right). So is this picture a first angle projection or a third angle? Or is it all together wrong?
I am in top view but my objects look distorted like they are on an angle?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to find the current rotation of my view in modelspace.

I see there is a VIEWDIR variable. so that may be what I need.
Is it possible to change te Break command permanently in the Break at Point command?I never use break, only break at point.
Changing te macro for break ^C^C_break to the macro for break at point ^C^C_break \_f @ doesn't work.
To do it manualy at the command prompt takes to much keyboard entries and mouse clicking.
So I've created this wall section and used viewbreaks to break the crop regios up so i can fit the final view on a sheet. The problem is, when I place the broken up section on a sheet, the viewport does not break up like the view region.
How do i break up the viewport on the sheet so I can squeeze the visable regions together?
How can you dview / twist to get the view twist angle to match a line exact?

Im currently trying to draw a layout for a simple angle iron part using the front, side, and angled view. Its a flat part made of sheetmetal and it will get 1 90* bend in it.
My first question is how do i bend a part in autocad LT 2011? Ive been using autocad for years but ive never had a request for an angled view.
My second question is how would i create a layout using all 3 views and include the info block in the bottom right displaying all the info?
How to change the perspective of a picture so it looks like you are looking on it from an angle?
Im using photoshop 7.0 and, if necessary, have access to photo CS2.
After I have created the whole 3D image using autodesk 3ds max, there is an option to view it at any angle like front, left, right etc. or I can view at any random angle by using the mouse. But how do I view the rendering at a particular angle like 15degree or any angle specified by me. I am an amateur in using autodesk.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Inventor Pro 2011 and I'm trying to break the association of a BOM from it's assembly. My company uses a "next assembly list" on each drawing to show the quantities and information that appear on the BOM in the next level assembly. To achieve this we insert a parts list referencing the next level, then we turn off the visiblity of all the parts except the item we want shown. The problem we've found with this is that we're using some large assemblies and Inventor slows down when it has to reference the large assembly on each drawing. All we really want to show is the single line. If we break the link to the large assembly, we feel that it will speed up the process considerably.

I could change it directly on the .idw but me and my project leader would like to not go on that road. Our teams are seperated in to two. Ones in charge of modeling & the other is in charge of the presentation. We would like to give, as much as possible, not to much leeway on those in charge of the presentation.
