I would like to select an anchor point and adjust it so that it creates a perfect right angle. How can I do that?
Imagine some closed, filled shape, made up of a dozen anchor points. I would like to select one of those anchor points (a corner anchor point, not a smooth anchor point), and adjust it (built-in function? script?) so that it create a perfect right angle (90 deg.). This essentially would mean moving it to just the right spot so that the lines connecting it to its two neighbouring anchor points would form a right angle.
do not assume that the resulting right angle would necessarily be orientated along a North-South axis, or any other rational compass direction.
When I draw a line, is there a way to say, "Start at point (864,0), go exactly 270° down (actually, I can hold down the shift key for that, but I digress...) and end at the other side of the canvas at point (864, 3456)?
A script would probably work well, but I've never dipped into that.
I have a short macro to add the compliment angle to all the bend angles on an Inventor 2014 drawing. I want it to always show one decimal point on the compliment angle, but if that would be '0' then it doesn't show it. I.e. in the attached picture I want it to be 58.0 (122.0) DOWN.

I am writing a routine that will place a piece of text at a specified point along a polyline. My problem is to determine the angle for the text. It needs to be the same as the segment of the polyline that it falls on. Just can't get my head around how to get that angle?
I can get a list of the vertex point of the polyline, but how do I determine the segment the point falls on?
After I have created the whole 3D image using autodesk 3ds max, there is an option to view it at any angle like front, left, right etc. or I can view at any random angle by using the mouse. But how do I view the rendering at a particular angle like 15degree or any angle specified by me. I am an amateur in using autodesk.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI found this image in a textbook and it's supposed to be a three view first angle projection of the boat. It looks like main view is a plan view (top).
What confuses me about this is that the left view, looks like it's of the left side. But only third angle projections order views this way (left view being of the left side, top view being of the top, right view being of the right). So is this picture a first angle projection or a third angle? Or is it all together wrong?
I am in top view but my objects look distorted like they are on an angle?

This isn't the ucs direction but any arbitrary view i'm using.

I want to match some temp graphics to align flat to my view.
I see there is a VIEWDIR variable. so that may be what I need.
How can you dview / twist to get the view twist angle to match a line exact?
I can enter an angle but the angle of my line is not to an exact degree or degree decimal. 2013 Civil 3D
Is there any way to use the "Rotate at angle" command outside of the "custom view" environment?
Is there actually any technical reason why the controls in the attached screenshot are not available in the Studio and normal modelling environments?
Im currently trying to draw a layout for a simple angle iron part using the front, side, and angled view. Its a flat part made of sheetmetal and it will get 1 90* bend in it.
My first question is how do i bend a part in autocad LT 2011? Ive been using autocad for years but ive never had a request for an angled view.
My second question is how would i create a layout using all 3 views and include the info block in the bottom right displaying all the info?
I have a path with a smooth point. The two direction points form a direction line with any non-45-degree-angle - say 11.8 degrees. I want to drag one direction point while keeping the angle of exactly 11.8 degrees.
Is there a key combination for that (Mac OS)?
Is there a shortcut to draw a 45 or 90 degree angle from a drawn line on an angle using the pen tool? ie. Rather than just from the x and y axis.
I trace a lot of maps and site plans.
Im drawing in isometric view and want to change the default drawing angle from 30 degrees to another angle.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a property line that is N 36d19'52" E but needs to be N 12d52'18" E. The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".

how to convert "real world" angles of elliptical arcs into those shown in a dxf file?
Say that I have drawn an elliptical arc with its start angle on 210 degrees and an end angle of 324 degrees. The values in a DXF file, for an elliptical arc, have something to do with the contant "PI" (3.14159). I know that a full circle is 2*Pi but how to do this with elliptical arcs!!
Im currently trying to set up a 2 point perspective view of a model ive recently designed.
I have an image set as the background and i would like to align the model in perspective to the image.
My issue is Dview and free orbit and giving me any kind of reasonable perspective.
Is there any other methods i might be able to try to improve the results ?
We'll get a inventor model of the huge cover . And we need to do a cross check old model to new scanned point clouds.
Inventor is not able to view point clouds, so the idea is to import inventor model to autocad . Do a cross check to point cloud notice the changes and put them into the inventor model . Move the flanges in the correct position.
This is the client mail.
iam not understanding this mail. Presently iam using autodesk inventor 2012 .
what is point clouds?
i know little bit of point clouds.
how to start this work. Client is provided scan files.
I have a problem with the management of the cloud of points with autocad 2013. and precisely:
- What is my need: using orthogonal views create section planes of small portions of a cloud to be scanned.
- What is my problem: When I align a view, the bounding box is not aligned to the same, so this involves a wrong cut plane to create the section
Project objects to profile view... got it. No problems selecting individual survey points or survey figures and projecting to profile view. Is there a way to project a entire point group to a profile. I have a point group created for the large number of points to be projected. Next I right click on the point group and click "select'. Then go to Project objects to profile view. Nothing...
This process works for the survey figures, but not the point groups! In prospector tab go to survey > figures then select CTRL + each figure to project then VIOLA' the whole group of figures are projected.
Is this limited to graphical selections only? If so, is there a workaround to generate a graphical selection set from the point group.

Say I'm projecting some 3D polylines to a profile view I have, and the 3D polylines cross the alignment defining the profile view. Is there a way to format the projections such that the point of intersection is identified, and that the points will be updated if I change either the alignment or the 3D polylines?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.
