View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I export 3D solids from Inventor to AutoCAD as well as reducing their byte size, for example changing assembly solids to a skin.
I do not need the internal components or intelligence of the assembly but I do need the solid body for presentation purposes. Ultimately I will be traveling with these solid drawings on my laptop and need them to be extremely compact.
When I try to do a make components I get this error "Could not open default template file." All the Standard.xxx files are the designated folder and named appropriately. Plus I just used this command earlier today. I did do a "rebuild all" but I'm not 100% sure the problem came directly after that.

We have a problem whereby our Templates revert back to a Default state. This is totally random.
One operator can create a drawing with the correct template loading up, and seconds later another operator will report that an old 'Inventor' default template has loaded up. On investigation it appears all templates marked as "standard" revert back to older versions.
I have made the Templates read only, but the problem still persists.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have changed my template using the styles library. For some reason Inventor 2013 will not let me save my new settings as a default in my newly created template. Instead it gives me an error message that reads:
" The following style definitions in template ....... differ from the definitions in the style library; the style library will be used.
Part listart list (ANSI), Revision Table: Revision Table (ANSI)
If the style definitions in the style library are intended for the new document, update the template with the new style definitions. If the style definition in the template are intended for the new document, remove these styles from your style library using the Style Library Manager."

If I create a precast stair in default template I get "end with riser" turned on automaticaly. If I copy that stair to my template and create new stair, "end with riser" is turned off and I manually have to adjust stair afterwards.
Problem is "end with riser" is now an instance parameter of stairs and I can't find where to change the default value.
Why is the stair type that works in default template stuffed when copied to my template?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to "Programatically", using Visual Studio, set the default printers paper size to either "A4" or "A3".
I have the following code that gets the required paper size ("A4" or "A3") from the registry and checks that the default printer supports "A3". If it does I want to set the paper size to "A3".
Here is my code so far.
Imports Microsoft.Win32
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim SetPaperSize As String
Dim PrinterPaperSize As String
SetPaperSize = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue("HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMechTools", "Printer Paper Size", "0")
For Counter = 0 To PrintDialog1.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes.Count
PrinterPaperSize = PrintDialog1.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes.Item(Counter).PaperName
If PrinterPaperSize = SetPaperSize Then
' MsgBox(SetPaperSize) HERE IS WHERE I NEED THE CODE TO SET THE PAPER SIZE
Exit For
End If
Next

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Inventor professional 2014.
I heard that in this version,
a drawing printing can now be saved so that each time I have a format A to print, it prints format A by default.
Each time I have a format B to print, it prints format B by default.
Now, if i have a drawing format A and another drawing format B to print, i have to change the format prining page each time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe use ACAD2013 at our office. we use xref files of other dept. to create our drawings. We mainly do piping drawings and use quiet a few blocks for fittings and equipments.
The file sizes up to 30MB and sometimes even more. Purge ( all options ) and audit were done but of no use to reduce size. Even deleted unused anno scales.
Having problems with the updated new file dialog and I'm not talking personal problems. I switched it to detail view and widened up the name column so I could see the whole name. I could actually live with that setup however the next time I opened the new file dialog all the columns returned to their default size and the sort also reverted.
Is it just me or does the new file dialog not remember any changes to it's layout?
