View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem where I am unsure if my upgraded template is incompatible with Revit 2013 or is there something else at play.
If I create a precast stair in default template I get "end with riser" turned on automaticaly. If I copy that stair to my template and create new stair, "end with riser" is turned off and I manually have to adjust stair afterwards.
Problem is "end with riser" is now an instance parameter of stairs and I can't find where to change the default value.
Why is the stair type that works in default template stuffed when copied to my template?
Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.

As a matter of fact, I would love for it to not even ask me what template file I want to use, I just want it to use the one I made.

When I try to do a make components I get this error "Could not open default template file." All the Standard.xxx files are the designated folder and named appropriately. Plus I just used this command earlier today. I did do a "rebuild all" but I'm not 100% sure the problem came directly after that.

We have a problem whereby our Templates revert back to a Default state. This is totally random.
One operator can create a drawing with the correct template loading up, and seconds later another operator will report that an old 'Inventor' default template has loaded up. On investigation it appears all templates marked as "standard" revert back to older versions.
I have made the Templates read only, but the problem still persists.

E.g. If I open AutoCAD, the template loaded is acad.dwt. But I want to change the default template to acadiso.dwt.
I have changed my template using the styles library. For some reason Inventor 2013 will not let me save my new settings as a default in my newly created template. Instead it gives me an error message that reads:
" The following style definitions in template ....... differ from the definitions in the style library; the style library will be used.
Part listart list (ANSI), Revision Table: Revision Table (ANSI)
If the style definitions in the style library are intended for the new document, update the template with the new style definitions. If the style definition in the template are intended for the new document, remove these styles from your style library using the Style Library Manager."

Is this setting stored in the registry? Where?

Is there any way to set the default corner seam behavior in the sheet metal template? Right now a simple corner seam always puts a gap approximately the metal thickness, I need to make that smaller as the default behavior.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed, removed and reinstalled Revit 2014 3 times but still no success. When I start Revit 2014 and try to start a new project by clicking on new and selecting any of the available templates like Architectural, Construction, Structural, or Mechanical, Revit gives me a message saying - Failed to open Document'. If I start selecting 'none' then the default project that starts has no elevation marks and no elevation views. Also the system families are not loaded properly as I get just one wall by the name of 'Basic Wall 1' and no other wall types are present. If I put an elevation marker to create an elevation view, there are no levels present and so how to I add further levels?
I have tried various stuffs to get default templates so that Revit works normally but it all failed. Nothing seems to work and I can't start a new project because the 'none' template has nothing in it and I don't want to create a new wall type every time.
when I start Revit it show me this message, I cant find any component in my library components, any solutions? It says: "The default template file you have specified does not exist:"
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhy it seems that Revit ignores the Project Units setting in the template file when opening an IFC file? Even when the template is targeted in the IFC open dialogue?
The IFC was exported from ACA 2008 with the Imperial units set. After opening the IFC file in Revit 2012, the project is set for Metric, even though the referenced template (.rte) is set up with Imperial.
Whenever I try to open a new blank file in it, it gives me an error message saying I don't have a "default template", and I needed to choose a file and save it as a "default template". So I did, but now, I'm stuck with that template - I can't choose a letter-sized blank page to work on because that choice is no longer on the list under "New". What the heck is going on? I just want a blank page to draw on, and now it's not available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent issue with AUTOCAD 2012 on new 64bit W7 PCs.
The issue is that sometimes when first opening AutoCAD it stops at the splash screen and says loading template at 0%.
We have to stop ACAD.exe and restart the PC, sometime it'll be fine after a single re-boot, this morning it took 3.
This is happening (intermittently) on 3 of 7 new Dell PC's.
If it was an issue with the ACAD.dwt, which we're loading from a central location and have been using for years, I would have thought it would be a consistent problem, not an occasional one.
Is it possible to insert a second template into a drawing, so you can have two different titleblocks in layout (paperspace)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the school edition of ACAD 11, and we made a template in class, and now whenever I open it from windows, it opens 2 drawings. It did this with my personal computer as well as the school computer I was on at the time. I'm guessing I changed a setting within the template? It isn't 1 drawing of the template and one fresh one like I read alot here, both seem to be my template file in dwg.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo everytime I import a layout from my template, the scale comes out wrong. The border is way too big, viewport, and the stamp is also way to big. It's being scaled by approximately by 12.28 times.
Here's what I can share:
- both drawings are in inches in both files
- all that 'insunits' stuff is set to zero in both files
- 'measurement' and 'measureinit' is set to zero in both files
- using AutoCAD 2012
- xyz scale is all at 1.00
- the titleblock itself almost imports correctly, only some of my att text doesn't come out properly as well.
As far as i can tell it's the command 'from template' issue. Because when i cut and paste the templates layout contents, it comes out fine.
I created an attribute of a title block, our company logo is inserted as a raster image within the attribute, I created this dwg file into a dwt file (template) however every time I open a new drawing and insert in the template file in the paperspace tab the attribute comes in but always with the logo?
The frame of the logo shows up with the file path of where is is located.
I am currently working on quite a large scale project with drawing packages of up to 50 drawings. Each of these drawings are layouts and need to have the same set of xrefs (ie. survey and road design) with the same layer properties. I may have one set of 50 drawings for Road Lghting and another for drainage for example. Each requiring a different set of xrefs and different set of layer properties.
Where I currently work I have a choice between to systems to run the job, both involve the use of scripts to control the layer states. My question is, and i wanted to start a discussion on which option is better, is whether to use Xref templates which nest all the individual xrefs into each of the 50 drawings, or use another script to attach/change the list of xrefs in each of the 50 drawings.
Xref Master/template option..Nest all required xrefs in one master, ie. X_DRAINAGE_MASTER.DWG Use a script to control layer states, ie. DRAINAGE_ LAYERS.SCR I think this has greater control over random mistakes with draw order issues from other draftsmen.Attache individual xrefs option. Individual xrefs in each drawing with a script ready which loads/changes the xrefs as I need. This script also controls draw order Also uses the same DRAINAGE_ LAYERS.SCR to control layer states I think this has a higher likelihood of draftsmen making mistakes with random xrefs and/or draw order problems. Probably takes more time to update all drawings with a respective change as opposed to updating one master xref.Does nesting a whole load (maybe 50-100 xrefs) into a master create slow working drawings?
Worth noting I have the ability to apply any number of script in any order I want through the use of a spreadsheet.
Needed to purge items in a drawing to recover a drawing in order to repair corruption within it it. I purged and audited the drawing in question and then created a block or the drawing elements which I imported to a new drawing sheet. That's great, all is well but.....obviously (now) the only layers, dimscale, etc. items I normally use in my template sheet are gone and only the items remaining after the purge are the ones that were in my original drawing.
How can I, or can I replace my normal full layer list, dim settings, blocks, etc?
I inserted a dwg created with Autocad LT 2004 into a MS Word 2010 document using: Insert | Object | Create from file. The result is the desired drawing is inserted but, in addition, the template used to create the dwg is also included and visible as if it is an additional layer. How to keep this from happening?
