AutoCAD Inventor :: Template - Unable To Save New Settings As Default
Oct 26, 2012
I have changed my template using the styles library. For some reason Inventor 2013 will not let me save my new settings as a default in my newly created template. Instead it gives me an error message that reads:
" The following style definitions in template ....... differ from the definitions in the style library; the style library will be used.
Part listart list (ANSI), Revision Table: Revision Table (ANSI)
If the style definitions in the style library are intended for the new document, update the template with the new style definitions. If the style definition in the template are intended for the new document, remove these styles from your style library using the Style Library Manager."
Whenever I try to open a new blank file in it, it gives me an error message saying I don't have a "default template", and I needed to choose a file and save it as a "default template". So I did, but now, I'm stuck with that template - I can't choose a letter-sized blank page to work on because that choice is no longer on the list under "New". What the heck is going on? I just want a blank page to draw on, and now it's not available.
I need to compress about 1,000 jpg images and I'm using the "save for web" feature in Photoshop 7 but I'm running into problems because my file names are very long and its cutting them off. I found the workaround by editing the output settings and unchecking the "Mac OS" box under "Filename Compatibility".
However, the problem is that the default settings do not stay like this once I hit OK and I end up having to uncheck the Mac OS box for each and every file. Is there a way to permanently change the default settings so I can do batch processing for all my images?
way to simplify the "save as" procedure. I found annoying to have to select say, PNG, from a long list... Gimp remembers the last filter (... reuse sharpen?) but not the last file format and folder?
The only settings I get in "Save for Web / Devices" are "Unnamed" and "-----".
Where would these preferences have disappeared to? I don't recall ever seeing the standard options ever since installing the CS3 Master Collection. ImageReady and Photoshop CS3 usually have a few JPG, GIF and PNG options.
Could I download the original settings file somewhere, without reinstalling anything?
X3 - I use X4 at work with no problems but at home I have X3. I set my workspace the way I want it and all my presets the way I want. I hit tools/save stings as default. I then save my workspace as todays date. Close corel and reopen. It starts with the defaults every time! I have to manually choose my workspace and even after doing so my settings have reverted back to default i.e. text to be point not inches like I chose etc.
When I try to do a make components I get this error "Could not open default template file." All the Standard.xxx files are the designated folder and named appropriately. Plus I just used this command earlier today. I did do a "rebuild all" but I'm not 100% sure the problem came directly after that.
We have a problem whereby our Templates revert back to a Default state. This is totally random.
One operator can create a drawing with the correct template loading up, and seconds later another operator will report that an old 'Inventor' default template has loaded up. On investigation it appears all templates marked as "standard" revert back to older versions.
I have made the Templates read only, but the problem still persists.

Where is the configuration for the Default Template Measurement units stored? Have tried creating an application options file, but on the clients this setting is not read/stored (still set to inches after import).
Is this setting stored in the registry? Where?
...and why does Inventor default to a non metric measurement unit?
Currently I'm trying to save an own "tone curve" but in the menu no entry to save it appears. In my understanding an entry "Eigene" (or "Own") should appear as soon as I am changing the tone curve manualy.
I am using the latest version of Lightroom 3.6 running under Windows 7 64-bit (both in German) with Camera RAW 6.7 installed.
Is there any way to set the default corner seam behavior in the sheet metal template? Right now a simple corner seam always puts a gap approximately the metal thickness, I need to make that smaller as the default behavior.
Where can I reset to default settings in Inventor 2010 ? Trying some configurations , but now I need to set my Inventor to original settings, where can I do that ?
I have a client that is trying to use the Cable and Harness feature, but receives the following error:
"The Cable & Harness template was not found. The specified location for the project is: [C:Workspace|Design DataCable & Harness|en-US] Please verify that the template file exists.
He has Inventor installed on his D drive, along with most of his other programs. OS, etc are on the C drive. I have verified that he has harness.iam and a Cable&HarnessDefaultLibrary.iwl in the following location for Inventor 2013
C:UsersPublicPublic DocumentsAutodeskInventor 2013Design DataCable & Harnessen-US. As a stab in the dark, I had him copy those files over to his workspace, and re-start Inventor, but same result. Latest updates are installed.
For whatever reason, everything reset back to default in my application settings. The only thing I remember happening was that at one point my Inventor was not able to establish a connection to the server where the liscence is stored and it gave out an error message. Ever since then, everything was reverted to default.
how to change the look of the highlights in the assembly environment when selecting parts? I can't remember where it's at.
I'm trying to automate the drawing-creation in our company. Steps I've taken:
- create new drawingdocument with template - Save new drawingdocument
Problem: Creation of new document works, but the next step, saving it to a specific location, fails. Error handler is initiated and displays error: Invalid procedure call or argument.
Used
Dim DXF_DWG as DrawingDocument'Create new drawing based on templateSet DXF_DWG = ThisApplication.Documents.Add(DocumentTypeEnum.kDrawingDocumentObject, ThisApplication.FileOptions.TemplatesPath & "Folded and Flatpattern DXF.dwg", True) 'Save new drawing to specific locationCall DXF_DWG.SaveAs("C:TempTest.dwg", False)
As told, the VB-code raises an error on the last command. What am I doing wrong? What are the correct steps in VBA to create a new drawing document based on a template and save the newly created drawing to a desired location?
I have a problem where I am unsure if my upgraded template is incompatible with Revit 2013 or is there something else at play.
If I create a precast stair in default template I get "end with riser" turned on automaticaly. If I copy that stair to my template and create new stair, "end with riser" is turned off and I manually have to adjust stair afterwards.
Problem is "end with riser" is now an instance parameter of stairs and I can't find where to change the default value.
Why is the stair type that works in default template stuffed when copied to my template?
I'm trying to set up some new title blocks, I have some "prompted entry" Properties that I want to incorporate, I've got them in the title blocks OK but I can't seem to get em to return a default value, the prompts are all coming in blank when the dialog box comes up. I have set the defaults to what I need on the original ANSI template with the new title block, but when I create a new drawing using that template, the title block comes in without any values set. Is there a way of setting them to return a default value initially that you would change if required, I'm sure I'm missing something very basic!!
Also, in the 'edit property' fields dialog box, there does not seem to be a way of inserting symbols into the value field, have I not turned on the right variable, or missed have I something else??
For some reason regardless of what I save or the fact that I've saved the template files, everytime I open a new file it automatically adds shadows and applies perspective view. This is extremely annoying. How do I alter the default settings to be ortho with no shadows?
My company outputs IGES files and we always use the settings "Surfaces" and "144-Trimmed", however, the default for Sufrace Type is "143-Bounded" so we have to open up the options dialog box and change to "144-Trimmed" every time. How can I set Inventor's Default to "144-Trimmed" so I never have to mess with it again?
I created a template and changed some style properties. I can not save to master location and when I open the template is tells me it is going to override my custom style.
How do I save out my custom style to the defalut location?
Is there a way to change the default save location for imported components? I can't stand the default "Save in Workspace" option which creates the dreaded & useless (IMHO) "Imported Components" folder.
I know how to change it during an import by clicking the "Options..." button. But if I or another one of our users forgets to do that, then things get saved to the "Imported Components" folder. This becomes particularly annoying with library files.
I have created several dwt's that are used fairly extensively in my organization. They are just the standard setups; 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 or 24 x 36 sheets with title blocks. What I was wondering is how to set up standard templates for things like multileader and dimension styles. If I create the styles in the dwt, and then save the it, would any person to use the dwt afterword have those styles available? Or is this something a bit more complicated like having everyone point to the same "acad.lin" file so that we all have the same linetypes?
