Apr 2, 2013Any program or routine in lisp or net that can select a group of 3d polylines in the form of a tin and convert them all to 3d faces?
I know that I can take the 3d polylines and explode them to 3d lines. Then I can use map clean to delete the duplicate lines. Then I can create a C3D surface using the 3d lines. Then I can extract 3d faces from the surface.

Apr 11, 2012Let's say you just have a simple black line in Gimp. You then use the color select tool to select it, and you plan on then converting that Selection into a single line Path.

You select the line, but the Selection tool actually travels a loop around the line. So, when you turn that Selection into a Path, you do not have a single line, but you instead have a loop.
So my question is this: is there any mechanism for making your Selection in GIMP just a single line so that it can then be converted into a Path?
Originally, I was trying to achieve this in Inkscape (and started a thread about it in the Inkscape forum). However, it appears that, although other Vector Art programs can achieve this, Inkscape cannot. So I was thinking that I could instead use Paths in GIMP instead, but this is not possible because of the nature of Selections, as far as I can tell.

Oct 31, 2012How can I add single line text to my CAD drawing? I use DTEXT command, but there is no option to enter text height. CAD only asks me the rotation angle of text and then blinking cursor appears. If I type something, text gets so small it's almost invisible. Only option for me now is to scale but it takes too much time and too many clicks to get my text to wanted size. Why AutoCAD doesn't ask me for the height?

Aug 15, 2013I have a Storm pipe network for a subdivision. All of the pipe are on the same layer, using the pipe style. For some reason, only 1 of 68 pipes will display through my viewports. All of the layers within the pipe style are thawed in my viewports, as well as the layer the pipes themselves are on.
Further, when I go back to an archived file from a few days ago, all the pipes are also on the same layers and styles, and all pipes display as they should through all viewports. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for this. I am not sure what could have changed as I didn't knowing adjust anything with the pipe networks since archiving a few days ago
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Converting Poly To Feature Line?
Oct 25, 2012So I am attempting to create a simple grading daylight. I began with a 3D Polyline that has only 2 verticies. When I "Convert Feature Lines from Objects," it creates a feature line with 4 verticies. The 1st and last have the initial elevations from the 3D Poly, but the 2 new verticies seem to be pulling elevations off the surface below where I am working.
My questions are: 1) why are new verticies added? 2) can this be prevented?
I know that I can overwrite the slopes in elevation editor, but this seems like an unnecesarry extra step.

Illustrator :: Drawing Line From End Point Of Existing One Without Joining
Jan 4, 2013How can I draw a line from the endpoint of an existing line (snap to grid is on), without the lines being joined? Joining causes two problems for me:
1. The arrowhead at the end of the existing line moves to the end of the joined line, whereas I want the arrowhead in the middle of the combined line.
2. Even without entering isolation mode the new line gets joined to a line which belong to a group, thus becoming part of that group as well. This defies the use of grouping to create logically connected units.

Mar 4, 2012I have been outputting surfaces from Civil 3D 2012 using the LandXML export function. Some of the XML files that are output the data is on a single line and some of the outputs are on multiple lines.
Not a major issue as they both import back into C3D ok but within my office we edit the XML file slightly inorder to get it into another software package and require the multi line format.
The only difference I can see is the size of the data used to create the surface! All drawings have the same LandXML export settings..All surfaces have been created using a combination of point groups, breaklines etc..
