I tried to set up a save as action and simply turn on and off the layers im saving and press play. Should be simple BUT it keeps overwriting the original saved file
View 1 RepliesI'm saving animation frames to individual PNG files. I have each image on a single layer in one group. Is there any way I can batch save all of them as individual PNGs? Right now I'm saving them one by one and it's tedious with over 100 frames.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe produce a number of A5 publications and the need has arisen for me to produce each page of each publication as a jpeg (can't be anything else) for web publication.
As I see it my current options are:
1. During the PDF'ing process from InDesign we produce an individual PDF per page (usually 40 pages per publication and 4 publications) and then batch convert them in PS.
2. We create jpegs from a 40 page PDF, one at a time.
Both are rediculously tedious and time consuming, and we would have to pass this cost onto the customer which I am loathe to do.
I am therefore wandering whether there is a way in PS to set up a batch process where it will open the pdf 40 times, incrementing by 1 page each time and saving that page as a jpeg.
Alternatively, there may be away that I can produce 40 individual PDF's in one process using Acrobat Pro/InDesign, and then do the batch process in PS.

I have a tiff file of a painting I scanned at 300 dpi. It's original image size when I open it is photoshop is 57.8 MB, 18" W by 12.477" H, Res 300. I need to resize it and send it as a 300 dpi jpeg. I have started in the image size dialogue box and just change the W to 11.25. That automatically changes the H to 7.798 and the res still says 300. The file size reduces to 22.6 MB. I click ok and then go to save as and choose jpeg. In the jpeg box I chose 12 Max and baseline standard and click ok. The saved file is reduced to 8.5 MB. When I open it in photoshop, it opens at 300 dpi when I look in the image size box. However, when I send it to someone else and they open it, the file is only 72 dpi. What am I missing to get the file to save at 11.25 inches, jpeg, but remain 300 dpi?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm playing around with images of projector screen fabrics and want a single number that indicates how close to being neutral the image is. What I do is select a small portion of the image, average the selection, and use Photoshop to tell me the color numbers. Let's just say the Lab numbers (L, a, b) for three fabrics are:
A: 80, -2, -6
B: 85, 7, -1
C: 83, -4, -4
The L gives me the luminance (how bright the screen is), and I think the "a" and "b" should be zero for a true neutral. But if they are not zero, what is the best way to indicate how far the color is from gray?
Use an absolute average? In which case the single number, call it "grayness" (with 0 being true gray), would be 4 for all samples, indicating that the fabrics are equally gray.Use Pythagoras to calculate the distance from the a,b origin (assuming "a" and "b" can be treated as perpendicular axces)? In which case the "grayness" value would be: A = 6.3, B = 7.1, C = 5.7, indicating that C was the closest to gray.Other method.
I'm having a problem recently with Photoshop CS5 (Version 12.0 x64), where images look bizarrely noise-y and with wrong colors when I open them in PS. However, if I view these same images in Windows Photo Viewer or Chrome, they look fine. AND, if I save the messed-up looking images in Photoshop, then view the new files in Photo Viewer/Chrome, they appear fine, without any of the noise or errors they were just showing in Photoshop.
An update did just recently come out for my video card (AMD Radeon HD 7870) so I suspect it did something or that some settings are now wrong, but I don't know how to fix this. I have tried tinkering with Photoshop's color settings in Preferences, each time closing / re-opening PS with the images in question, but nothing has worked so far.
Here is the exact same image, how it appears on the screen when opened in Photoshop. However, the distortion on the blue text only appears visibly on-screen while in Photoshop. If I save it and open it elsewhere, it looks fine. If I copy-paste it to a new document, it still looks distorted, but saving/opening elsewhere reveals an undistorted image.
Another example. Original, proper image that I created previously: Same image, when opened in Photoshop - lots of noise suddenly in the green and blue bars, on the axe, etc.I did discover that if I opened one of these images and it was all distorted, if I changed the mode to 32 bits/Channel suddenly it would go back to looking normal and without distortion. But I have no desire to work in 32 bit mode, since I want to save jpegs for web use and other simple uses.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have assembled a wholel lot of scanned pages from my sketch pad into one psd file. That file has guides which I use to register and align every page (each page is therefore its own layer). Is there a way I can make an action and save off each individual layer as its own jpeg? I set up an action but I don't know how to get photoshop to save it with a distinct namespace. The first action I set up basically prompted me to re-name each layer as I saved it, which isn't really saving time. What I want is for the action to start at the bottom layer and turn off the visiblity of all the layers above it, save the visible layer as a jpeg with a name based on the layer and then turn on the next layer's visibitlity and repeat, until all layers have been saved.

i'm in color mode sRGB and i try to save it as a value of 10 and progressive.
From a cut-out image on a transparent background, I use Save for web specifying a black matte to create a JPEG. The resulting image has compression artefacts within the black matte around the image just the same as if the original image had a black background. I can then apply a mask channel copied from the orignal file to the JPEG and fill the matte with black. Delete the mask and Save and I have a JPEG with a matte free of artefacts.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 identical PSD files. Both have 10 different paths that are identical for each file. When I flatten and save one file as a jpeg the paths stay in the file just fine as is usually the case. When I open the jpeg the paths are still there as they should be.
When I save the other file as a jpeg all the paths are there after I've saved the file and BEFORE I've closed the file. After closing and reopening the file the paths are all gone. If I save the same file as a tiff the paths all stay as usual.
I create graphs, etc in Illustrator, place them as Smart Objects in a master Photoshop file before outputting Save for Web JPEGs to use as PowerPoint slide backgrounds. Everything created in Illustrator or Photoshop through that process (Quality 80 or 100 with any of the SfW options on or off) Save for Webs are blurry when imported (at 100%) into PowerPoint.
The only way I have been able to get anything crisp in PowerPoint was saving a Photoshop pdf. However, that was only the text created in Photoshop. The Illustrator Smart Object part was still blurry. What is the best process to combine Photoshop and Illustrator files into one file for import into PowerPoint as a clean, crisp background?
AND/OR a open tab recovery cache or way to extract the images that get lost during a crash of PDN.
Number two on my list behind your fantastic new layer functionality that I had been dreaming about for three years. I NEVER close PDN. The ONLY time it closes is once every week or two when the 20, 30, 50 tabs that I have open, finally overwhelm my system. I bounce back and forth so much that there is no way to continuously save them as I make changes cause it would jack up my workflow by taking up too much time.
No way around it, this is just how I work. It would be lovely if PDN was able to, similar to After Effects, popup an error box saying it was about to crash and did 'you" want to save the session. Especially, now, with 4, as while it is a super duper version upgrade, the crashes were daily, with me, and I couldn't keep losing that much data. Sophie's choice, for me. The old layer window or daily crashes.
I shoot in RAW and use the Develop module in Lightroom. I want to save the corrected RAW files as JPEGs. Do I export them to Photoshop to save them as JPEGs?

I have tried adding the adjustment layer from the icon at the bottom of the layers palette, from Layers, New adjustment layer, and I have also tried linking the two layers. In all cases the adjustment made applies to the whole image. I am sure that previous versions of Photoshop had this facility.

Unfortunately I can't throw all the layers in a group and use a group mask in this case since the layers that I want to share the mask must be in different group folders. (I am using actions to export the results of each group to the different flattened files.) So I have similar but not identical layers in separate groups that I would like to share one authored mask. I also can't use smart objects because the layers are not identical.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Photoshop CS6 document with 20-some adjustment layers and would like to be able to apply their effect to multiple image files. I'm looking for a way to convert the series of adjustment layers into a single action so that I can batch process a set of images. Can this be done?
Unless I'm missing something, it appears that no trivial solution exisits. For example, there's no option that allows for selecting the adjustment layers, right clicking them, and choosing 'convert to action.' What I want to avoid is having to redo each adjustment layer just for the sake of recording an action.
Also, I understand that I can always "place" (i.e. drag and drop) the image requiring processing into the Photoshop document containing the adjustment layers, saving a merged copy as jpeg, and repeat... but such a manual method would border on insulting to this prowess of a program.
Any method of recording an action that can make use of the document with the adjustment layers and a variable document that will be passed through during the batch process.

I know the Alt/Ctrl/Shft/E shortcut, but this requires turning evertything off except the layers to be merged. In a large doc with some layers already turned off, turning everything on and off quickly is not always straight forward.
Is there a way of merging linked layers perhaps?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just been updated to CC at work and I am having all sorts of issues. But the two main pressing ones are:
1. When I save, it keeps "not responding". Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't. When it does, I lose everything. It takes anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes to save. I thought it was an issue with a large file, but it does it to me in a one page file with only one photo in it as well.
2. Layers. This is the killer right here. Again, I thought this was a capatability issue when using old files, but it has proved me wrong. As I create layers and new artwork, it works fine. However, once I save and re-open the file, all the artwork has been combined to a single layer and then I have to dig it all out to do anything to it, only to have it do the same thing the next time I repoen the file.
Is it me? Is it default settings somewhere in CC? I have major deadlines that I think I am going to miss if things keep continueing the way they are.

Illustrator CC 16.0.3 (Tried to update to 17 and it said everything was up to date, twice)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing and I need to take multiple layers that I have drawn (which make up one unit) and basically merge them together so that I can replicate and move them about and place them where they need to go in the larger unit that they live in.
I tried playing with grouping in the Layers Manager, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or if there is another way to go about this.
I'm attaching my CAD drawing so you can see what I'm up to. In this drawing, there are basically two groups of layers. Those that make up the Control Tower itself, and another group for what's called a Tajimi Rack. I need to have all the layers for the Tajimi Rack made as one so that I can move that object around without having to move the layers one at a time. (There is a lot more that needs to drawn into the Tajimi Rack, but once I know how to merge them all together, I'll be in a good position to carry forward.)
I also need to know how to then take that new Tajimi Rack layer and duplicate it (I'm looking to place about a dozen of the Tajimi Racks in the control tower.
FWIW, I'm a self taught CADer. By that I mean I have to use CAD in my job but it's always done in a 2D setting where I'm simply looking through roofs with other drawings laid under for rigging purposes.
