View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an irregular 3D solid, a slab with an opening, and I want its coordinates. However, Autocad provides coordinates only for a simple 3D face.
I plan to use 'Xedges' to get its all edges first, and then get coordinates of these lines.
I should design a Silicone model for a Breast Cancer Survivor. My problem is the Irregular Geometric Shape of silicone. I tried "Sphere"/ "Loft" commands, but I didn't get my desired outcome! I also drew the 2D base by "Spline"; however,"Extrusion" was not a good option to make it look like a 3D silicone!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to divide irregular shapes into equal parts. For example, the attached shape needs to be divided into 10 equal parts. Parametres could be set such as all dividing lines are horizontal.
I need to do this in autocad (2013) if possible.

I am trying to create a 3D meshed surface from an irregular shaped solid I created using firstly a SPLINE, FILLET, PEDIT, and EXTRUDE. I have a solid in the basic shape now, but I am trying to create a meshed top and bottom (x, y, z,) to change the contours of those surfaces. I have looked at 3DMesh but it asks for (n,M,) coordinates like it is a regular shaped surface (square, rectangle) where one can calculate the required even spacing needed.
My goal is to create in CAD something like a fine art carved piece of wood, with irregular shaping and no straight planes or surfaces.
I have included a basic picture in JPEG format for your review. This is the item from which I am trying in ACAD 2010 to construct into a usable adjustable form so I may parametric for my needs.
How could make big size pipe with irregular section shape by using Civil 3D?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a set of 8 coordinates that outline a pit. I have been asked to calculate it's volume. I have input the coordinates, and have produced a 3D image of the pit. I was hoping to be able to convert the object (the pit) that I have created to a solid, so I could then determine the volume, although it is proving to be difficult.
how I could calculate the volume of this pit?

Any hints? -I tried duplicating / desaturate / brighten / transforming the layer and ended up with (predictably) bad results.
I have trouble manually tracing around an irregular shape, such as a pitcher winding up to pitch a ball. I use the shape editor to outline the figure. When I finish I find that there's two outlines, and they're not connected. Is there some way to get them connected as one complete outline?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi already know that in order to get a gradient to follow the outline of an irregular shape you could do a "blend" with smooth colour'
T he problem I'm having is that it's an involved process and most of the time requires too much tweaking - the points in both shapes should be the same and should approximate each other's distances btw the location on both shapes. I'm wondering if there's another, more direct way to, let's say, take a letter and get a falloff gradient in the shape of the letter...
just realised that a drop shadow might work....i need the gradient to eventually become a mask...
im using XXP5, i have an irregular polygon or shape which is the space between a curved shapes outline. within this irregular shape, I want to mould the textso it is stretched / destretched to fill the space yet still be readable.
i have tried to convert the text to shapes and then adjust the nodes, but i dont get any nodes making up each letter(!) the mould tool itself doesnt seem to work. the process first involves stretching the font and rotating it to roughly fit it as close as possible.
Using Inventor 11 I wish to create some individual parts using Structural Shapes from the Content Center as the basis for my sketch profile and extrude to length before doing other machining.
Is it possible to do this from the Part environment directly and not use the frame generator?
I am trying to create two plane's one after the other like it is done in this video tutorial.
[URL]........
My problem begins with me only having 1 point on the part to pick for my 3 point plane command. In the video there is no bit where you are supposed to create a point but I'm thinking I wont be able to duplicate without doing something like that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking to create an irregular concrete slab, with barrel vaulted ceilings on a small radial section of a circular slab, and a a parabolically curved upper section to the slab, and a large punched hole in the middle of the slab. To this point, I have been able to achieve this using multiple components and masses, but I was wondering if there was a way to make a single object with a single solid material that may be able to achieve the same effect. I have attached a section for ease of explanation.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm trying to create a shape like the attached image using sheet metal loft from one sketch to the second sketch. No problem doing that but i want to extend the neck on the small end 1 inch like the attached image.
Currently the product is produced using 4 panels brazed together. I want to create the product with 2 bent panels 90 degrees that are split apart from the loft.
Not sure if this even possible in the real world sheet metal house to develop the flat pattern.
I am new Inventor user (2014 version) trying to get up to speed on best practices and the most efficient work flows. I find myself designing individual parts that start off as base AISC shapes (angles, square tubes, rectangular tubes, etc.). These are parts that start off as base extrusions that then have multiple machining operations performed on them. In most cases, the parts are stand along parts that aren't involved in any type of frame.
In these cases, I generally sketch the profile from scratch using my AISC book and then extrude. I'm sure this is silly. Frame generator already has the profile data built in- so why am I sketching these profiles from scratch? But using frame generator in an assembly environment to make a single member part seems silly to me also. Why should there be an assembly file at all? I just want a single part that starts off as some length of some standard profile. Using frame generator in an assembly environment seems like overkill.
What is the best practice for starting off a part with some length of a standard ANSI, ISO, or other profile?
I am trying to create a spheric container with a irregular pattern of different triangle as show in the example attached.
What would be the best way to creat this part? i was thinking of creating each triangle in a different .ipt and after assemble them all toghter. But this will take ages and a lot of ipt.
Quite often I need to measure shortest surface distance between two points (electrical tracking diatance) as in pic below. I can do it iteratively by taking a range of slices out of the part (2nd pic) and measuring the cut edge length but it's quite meticulous and time consuming.
.ipt attached.
Many times I see that these types of irregular shapes which comprise of spline curve are created with very less or no dimensions, so I want to know how this spline curve was created and can be controlled, if I want to create it in an exact manner what dimension I should use ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince the release of Photoshop CC the "Live Shape Properties" has basically chosen when it does and does not want to show up.... sometimes I even create a new shape to replace the old one and it STILL does not show the live shape properties... how hard is it to make sure the options are available at all times? I opt for a discount since this is a half working application and the features you highlighted barely function...

In the attached assembly, I would like to fill the four corners (see Figure 1) with weld to make one smooth bead around the perimeter of the end cap rather than using fillet weld to lay down four linear beads along the edges. I accomplished this with a groove weld (see Figure 2). However, problems occurred (pasted below) when I attempt to weld this piece to a surface.
Error message:
" Create Weld Feature: problems encountered while executing this command.
example.iam: Errors occurred during update
Fillet Weld 3: Could not build this Fillet Weld feature
The attempted operation had problems trimming and discarding faces. Try with different inputs."
When I had the four original fillet weld beads, I could fillet weld this part to a surface no problem (see Figure 3). When I switched it to a groove weld to get the desired corner appearance, I get errors. I tried to mess around with the tick boxes in the groove weld dialog box to try to fix the problem but nothing worked.
Ultimately, my problem can be solved if I could simply fill the corner gaps without using the groove weld command. This would eliminate the errors associated with fillet welding over groove welds.
Let me know if the attached files do not work. This is my first time uploading an assembly and its associated part files.
Figure 1: Corner with fillet welds (need to fill that gap)
Figure 2: Corner with groove weld (gap filled)

I'm looking to create a linetype where I can incorporate a specific arrow shape. The best way of going about this? The application is to show on general layout plans the escape route with a polyline with the incorporate arrow.
Until now I have been drawing a standard PL then adding the arrows manually .
I have been sent a client's construction drawing for a care home where i need to design the sprinkler installation. The majority of the rooms have got the same head positions within them, but they have all got a slightly different angle as the building is shaped like a banana. Unfortunately its not a uniform radius that i can tell as the one side is larger than the other.
So my question is this. Normally, on a square building, I drop in construction lines along the bedrooms so that i know my sprinkler heads are all the same distance off a wall, and I only need to line up one side. However, with this building being a curve, and the wall angle being slightly different on each room, how do I place an angled construction line or polyline to act as my set out line for my heads.
