I am once again trying to get the hang of drawing a 3D spiral staircase and cannot seem to figure out the SWEEP command properly. I have a channel, or a rectangular tube shape which I want to use for the stringers. If I use a round tube, like when I do the handrail, there is no trouble. But when I use a channel or rectangular tube shape the SWEEP command causes the shape to bank and I end up with an unuseable shape.
In the attached drawing (ACAD-2007 format) I have shown a SPLINE which indicates the path I want the outside stringer to follow.
Is there a way to unfold a coil shape to get the flat pattern? When I try to unfold the attached part I get an error message (see attached error_msg.jpg). We have been using AutoPOL to unfold these kind of shapes (which works fine). But since we have a very old version which we really need to upgrade, I was wondering if nowadays Inventor could handle coil unfolds.
If this will not work with the current IV2013 release, will this then be implemented in a future release? Are there any alternatives or should I just go for the AutoPOL upgrade?

I need to draw a transmission gear with spiral teeth, rather than straight teeth on a typical gear. I know how to work the extrusion tool, but I can't get the shape to twist so the teeth are all aligned.
Is there any way to do this in Corel Draw X5? I'm pretty sure Corel Draw is sophisticated enough to do something like this, I just can't figure out how. The manual shows how to extrude, but nothing really beyond that.

I am trying to create two plane's one after the other like it is done in this video tutorial.

My problem begins with me only having 1 point on the part to pick for my 3 point plane command. In the video there is no bit where you are supposed to create a point but I'm thinking I wont be able to duplicate without doing something like that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been sent a client's construction drawing for a care home where i need to design the sprinkler installation. The majority of the rooms have got the same head positions within them, but they have all got a slightly different angle as the building is shaped like a banana. Unfortunately its not a uniform radius that i can tell as the one side is larger than the other.
So my question is this. Normally, on a square building, I drop in construction lines along the bedrooms so that i know my sprinkler heads are all the same distance off a wall, and I only need to line up one side. However, with this building being a curve, and the wall angle being slightly different on each room, how do I place an angled construction line or polyline to act as my set out line for my heads.
I wanted to create simple shape for rectangle such that its dimensions are selected from the block table. For that purpose, I have constructed the required constrains (geometric and dimensions) and then a “block table” (attached).
As I tested the behavior to have 1X2 rectangle (attached), I got a rotated one (attached)!-
Im trying to create a shape like the attached image using sheet metal loft from one sketch to the second sketch. No problem doing that but i want to extend the neck on the small end 1 inch like the attached image.
Currently the product is produced using 4 panels brazed together. I want to create the product with 2 bent panels 90 degrees that are split apart from the loft.
Not sure if this even possible in the real world sheet metal house to develop the flat pattern.
I have 4 points/corners (with XYZ-coordinates) of a square shape created in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 program. I want to create 2 "triangle-shape" parcels (one parcel connects Points #1-#2-#3-#1 and the other parcel connects Points #1-#4-#3-#1. How can I create these 2 "triangle-shape" Parcels from the 4 points/corners of a squre shape?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am new Inventor user (2014 version) trying to get up to speed on best practices and the most efficient work flows. I find myself designing individual parts that start off as base AISC shapes (angles, square tubes, rectangular tubes, etc.). These are parts that start off as base extrusions that then have multiple machining operations performed on them. In most cases, the parts are stand along parts that aren't involved in any type of frame.
In these cases, I generally sketch the profile from scratch using my AISC book and then extrude. I'm sure this is silly. Frame generator already has the profile data built in- so why am I sketching these profiles from scratch? But using frame generator in an assembly environment to make a single member part seems silly to me also. Why should there be an assembly file at all? I just want a single part that starts off as some length of some standard profile. Using frame generator in an assembly environment seems like overkill.
What is the best practice for starting off a part with some length of a standard ANSI, ISO, or other profile?
I need to create a series of "trays" that are in the shape of letters. I am having some success with certain letters, but zero success with others.
I am creating these letters using a curve brought in from illustrator, and sweeping the profile that I want to use around the curve to create the outside.I am then using presspull to create the base of the tray.
However, sometimes the sweep command will simply say "unable to sweep 1 selected object" with no explanation as to why.
Sometimes I will get the shape that I want, but it is facing the wrong way, and I cannot fix it. Other times it will simply stall and then delete both the curve and the profile.
I'm trying to flatten a section of sheet metal so i can get a cut lenth for my fab shop. Please see attached drawing. I want to use these dimensions, and then flatten the part so my fab shop can trace it and cut the sections, bend them and weld together, but when i use the flatten command, nothing happens..
View 7 Replies View RelatedYou see, one of the slides needs to be a spiral type. It has to be 175 (units-in my case cm) tall and 60 (units) ride so the bigger kids can slide down no problem.
My problem is making the 2D (and thus 3D) image. I'm not to sure how to go about this. I've tried doing the HELIX command but it's seemingly impossible to match up the two spirals to create the constant width and even create the slide.

I m trying to draw some stairs but really struggling in even finding a place to start. Basically I have a large cylinder which an access platform, I need to put some stairs to it as per the as fitted drawing which is lacking in info to say the least.
