I need to draw a transmission gear with spiral teeth, rather than straight teeth on a typical gear. I know how to work the extrusion tool, but I can't get the shape to twist so the teeth are all aligned.
Is there any way to do this in Corel Draw X5? I'm pretty sure Corel Draw is sophisticated enough to do something like this, I just can't figure out how. The manual shows how to extrude, but nothing really beyond that.
Is it possible to twist a bar shape. I have the inventor part file as well as a jpeg file of what the device should look like. Is it even possible with inventor or fusion.?

Actually I'm trying to create a 3D spiral shape
I am once again trying to get the hang of drawing a 3D spiral staircase and cannot seem to figure out the SWEEP command properly. I have a channel, or a rectangular tube shape which I want to use for the stringers. If I use a round tube, like when I do the handrail, there is no trouble. But when I use a channel or rectangular tube shape the SWEEP command causes the shape to bank and I end up with an unuseable shape.
In the attached drawing (ACAD-2007 format) I have shown a SPLINE which indicates the path I want the outside stringer to follow.
Is there a way to unfold a coil shape to get the flat pattern? When I try to unfold the attached part I get an error message (see attached error_msg.jpg). We have been using AutoPOL to unfold these kind of shapes (which works fine). But since we have a very old version which we really need to upgrade, I was wondering if nowadays Inventor could handle coil unfolds.
If this will not work with the current IV2013 release, will this then be implemented in a future release? Are there any alternatives or should I just go for the AutoPOL upgrade?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSuppose you apply spiraling effect on the left edge of the figure (clockwise) and want to reproduce the same effect,but with the same intensity on the right side of the figure (reverse clockwise) so that both effects have symmetry.Clicking on the opposite edge of the picture and select the opposite direction (changing clockwise direction in the appropriate button) does not necessary mean that there will be the desired symmetry, once you can not determine how much pressure should be given to get exactly the same spirals intensity given to the left edge.
Is there any way to do it accurately? In what moment you should release mouse so that the number of turns is the same as previously established (left side)?
How do I get it to get bigger as it goes outward? I see up top where it says "spiral expansion factor" but it is light gray so I can't use it.

Unfortunately, if we apply a bevel from the extrusion toolbar, the text turns light cyan and white instead of shades of yellow. Furthermore, we see no way to adjust the colors for the bevel applied within an extrusion. Why is the text face color changing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter creating an extrusion, we selected the object sometime later, but are not able to edit the vanishing point coordinates for the extruded object. Is there a reason we cannot edit this object?
Vanishing point coordinate boxes, on toolbar, are grayed and unavailable.
Anchor for vanishing point on drawing screen is an outline and unavailable.
Object is marked as editable, so editing is not blocked.
Selecting the original text or extruded subgroup object makes no difference.
Extrusion gradient colors are not showing on the extrusion walls.
Have varied the 'Extrusion Type', but the types are hard to discern and don't make a difference in the editability of the object.
I'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.
I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?
I just installed CD on my daughter's computer and her shape tool only allows for a free form selection by following the cursor in a free form way. My install allows for a rectangular click-and-drag type of selection. I see no options for this tool Is her install bad?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is something that has bugged me for ages. Sometimes i have real problems making a circular hole in another shape. I would normally use 'back minus front', but when i do this a lot of the time Corel adds the nodes into the shape but it doesn't actually cut out the area. Hopefully the graphics here will explain this better.
So i want to cut the three white circles from the blue background, but you can see the results:
The odd thing is this doesn't always happen. If i just draw a square and a circle, and cut one from the other, it works fine. Also, is there an easy way to 'punch' out the nodes that it has left in there to make the hole in the shape?
Panning / dollying the camera, the image plane is still trying to maintain a 'forward' looking view to the camera. I would like to lock the talent / image plane so that when I do a camera move, the talent is 'sticking' to the virtual news room I have used.

What I cannot figure out is once I have drawn the shape, let go of the mouse and want to THEN go and change the size & shape of the marquee, how to do it. How do I make the top/bottom of a circular elipse change? And then bring a side in? Do I have to keep re-drawing until I am perfect?
I have some images with some very tough lighting. I think the images were shot in the wrong camera ISO settings. So most of the pictures have 4-5 people in them and it is there faces that have this HUGE amount of overexposure going on. How can I isolate their faces to work on the exposure/lighting/color correction for their heads? And then select inverse(?) and correct the rest of the area?

But cannot get enough twisting action. I just need to know how to twist an object properly. For example, what I have done is created a two sketches of hexagons on offset planes, and lofted between the two sketches. If I rotate one hexagon sketch slightly, it will result in a twisting effect. However, if I want to get any significant amount of twisting, rotating the sketch does not work. I have tried with a goil, but that gets the entire object (with a sweep, in this case) to spiral.
Im trying to reproduce the part attached. Its a rectangular aluminum tube. .320 x .180 approx an inch long. I tried lofting 2 sketches but the result does appear like the attached image.

I had the 3d spline path, I had the polyline rail profile, but after I sweep the profile, it end up being twisted at the end of the rail. Same problem happens when I did a sweep using a helix path, imagine a vertically placed rectangular profile at one end of the path then after using sweep command, the other end was somehow twisted on a certain degree. How can I avoid this twisting problem

I am trying to draw a sun-like shape. I started with a star polygon and apply the Twist effect. That gets me pretty good arms on the sun, but I'd like for something a bit more flame-like, so I'd like to get the arms to now bend back in the opposite direction. Is there any way to use or modify the Twist effect so that I can apply it a second time but bend further out in the opposite direction? Or is there some other good way to get the rotation along all the arms.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the following sheet metal application: A flat bar steel (strip) 40x1mm is bent and twisted around three cylinders. In our process, the strip is running in loop around these cylinders, like a conveyor-belt. At first, it is bent around the first cylinder (blue). Then, it is bent and twisted around the second cylinder (green). Between these cylinders, a flat part is modelled so that the strip will be bent upwards (twisted) around the next cylinder. The same is done between cylinder two and three. In praxis, when I bend the strip, no flat part will be present, because the strip is quite stiff, as it is spring steel. In my Inventor model, no stiffness of the strip is taken into consideration.
I am looking for a better way to model this strip, where stiffness of the material is taken into consideration.
