i created section view as in pic1. In Bands, Existing surface elevation labels at existing surface grade breaks, top of road elevation labels at top grade breaks, datum is the same. Can i add existing surface elevation labels at top of road grade breaks? (pic2)
View 7 RepliesWhat I would like to achieve is a section band style for bulk earthworks and simple access roads that shows the design level at Grade Breaks only. The problem I am having is that Grade Breaks are being recognised as where the sample line crosses a triangle, not where the the grade actually changes/crosses a feature line.
A have a number of simple platforms, that I have created using an infill from feature lines, usually these platforms are surrounded entirely by feature lines of the same height. As to be expected, Civil 3d creates a few flat triangles, and as a consequence, all of the points where the sample line crosses these show up on my band style. Is there any way to achieve this band style?
I have labled for grade break on the profile, but it did not lable all break line? how to add grade breaks along the new profile (see attached image).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a drawing in which the existing ground is so jaggedy that I've got way too many grade breaks (see the attached image). I know I can use the weeding and eliminate the labels every 50 feet, or so, along the profile. But I need to have the ability to only show a specific grade break range. For instance, I'd like for my profile only to display grade breaks between 0% and 2% and not to display anything above 2%. I've tried making an expression, but have been hitting brick walls. I also know I can manually (use the CTRL + click) select the specific labels that I don't want and erase them, but I've got lots of these labels. Any LISP routine or an expression that can accomplish this? [URL]

i have some existing drainage pipe and structures in a base plan that i need to change the invert (which is the easy part) and the top elevation to the existing top elevation that does not meet the minimum presect in civil 3d 2012 is there a way to change these min. to match my exisitng elevation for example i have a catch basin invert is 15.45 top is 17.56 with a 18" rcp the cover will be less than 12" and i need to change this.

I want to set and Elevation Point (not a PI Point) along a feature line by entering the grade from the previous point. Currently the "Set Elevation Point" command only allows entering an elevations or getting an elevation from the surface. I know I can set an elevation point and then use the "quick elevation editor" to adjust the grade, but I don't want to go through the extra step.
I have some storm sewer alignments that I've put into profiles in C3D 2011. The pipe network that I used to create the alignments from is a reference created from a data shortcut. I've created profiles of these storm sewer alignments, and the station labels for the storm structures are displayed at question marks until I go into the structure properties for each structure and link it to the correct alignment.
The problem is that whenever I synchronize my data shortcuts because someone has updated something, all of the links in each structure to the alignments disappears and I am back to? for my stations in the profiles and I have to go go fix it again. how to keep this from breaking?
I do see this recent message [URL] that appears to be a similar problem, but it was said in that thread that this problem was introduced with C3D 2012, but I am using C3D 2011.....
i have a corridor. the corridor feature line that is supposed to hit the proposed centerline is following my existing grade instead of where the profile is. in other words, the corridor line i need at the centerline when i do "feature lines from corridor" is following my existing grade instead of the top of my road. did i accid. change something? i need it to follow the top centerline of my road. the red arrow is the line i need at the top centerline.

It labels the surface (PAD) then automatically subtracts a set distance for another elevation (GFE) and adds a set distance for another elevation (FFE). After doing some research, it looks like it was created with an expression?
I have two questions:
First, where to go to get a better understadning of this? I'm not familiar with expressions.
Second, where can I find the expression in drawing to make an edit to the set distances. I can remove the GFE/FFE as they are separate components in the label style, but I don't see where to modify the distance it adds or subtracts.
We work with Hydro graphic surveys that have large numbers of points. We would like to be able to display girded spot heights colored to represent the elevation. (Similar to elevation banding)
I have created a surface and then created surface elevation points on a grid with spacing of 15m. I have tried looking at setting up a style that will adjust the color depending on the elevation ie 0 to -1 = red but haven't made any progress.
I have several hundred cross sections for a surface that I need to label the major section breaks. Civil 3D gives the option of weeding based on distance, but I want to label only the major grade breaks (i.e. more than 1%). Is this possible, or is the only option manually labeling the section?

Issue #1:
I added the dimension to show that the bottom of the cross section is actually at 97.5 but is labeled as 98
Issue #2:
I would prefer the bottom of the cross section to be at an even elevation (98 not 97.5)
Why not show the labels in sections?

I created several cross sections for a roadway design utilizing sample lines. I created multiple sample lines along the CL alignment and inserted the cross sections without any errors. The peculiar part is when I try to inquiry or label any cross section, nothing happens. Using the inquiry tool, I get an message that reads "Warning: Specified point is outside the section view. Try Again." If you see the attached PDF, you'll notice that the point I selected is dead center of the particular cross section in question. When I attempt to use labels to mark elevations, in the command line, it repeats "Pick a Point" but does not insert a label.
I created other cross sections in the same fashion and do not have this issue.
When working in a drawing with a surface referenced there is usually a flag attached to the cursor that reveals the surface and the elevation of the spot the cursor is hovering over; mine has disappeared.

So far I was working with Autocad (importing a dxf). Is there a way to rotate at the same time all the points labels, wich in this case are just text items?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a table with a title, 3 columns each with their own header and 20 rows of data. I then adjusted the properties of the table to allow breaks and repeated top labels. My Table Break properties are:
Enabled: Yes
Direction: Down
Repeat top labels: Yes
Repeat bottom labels: No
Manual Positions: No
Manual heights: Yes
Break height: 2.5
Spacing: 1
Everything looks great! I like the way the table is now broken into several smaller "tables"/sections (about 3 rows per section). BUT my question is: Is there a way to simply change the title text of these smaller "tables"/sections so each break has its own unique text for its title? The repeat top labels property only allows the overall title to be repeated with the same text. Any changes I make to the title text is carried through all titles of these individual sections.
So we have to adjust the elevation of hundreds of drainage structures from their existing elevation to the new finished ground elevation.I know we can give this information within the structure label by adding a reference surface but we would like to produce a table with three columns:

I have a bunch (hundreds, so manual input not an option) of X,Y points without elevation data that I would like to import into a DWG and assign an elevation that is based on an existing surface object. Is there a way to do this for a point file? The command for inserting individual points would be the "Create points - Surface > Random" but I don't see a way to do this in a batch type method where i have my PNE formatted input file to just move the points to sit on the existing surface.
