I am trying to label existing ground & profile grade on my cross-sections the way old Land 4 used to do it. I've muddled through section view property style settings, band settings, group properties w/no luck. It can't possible be this difficult. What am I missing?
View 5 RepliesI have an existing ground profile, and a design profile. All I want to do is label the slopes of the design. When I click my line label style and turn on the text it labels the existing ground and the design ground. I cannot find the setting in my two profile styles to turn the slopes off in the existing ground.
Oh, how can I get a tick on the V.C. dimension line?
How to get automaticly data on the profile. See my road profile in attachment.
Now i have to manually write data of elevation of existing and future ground and distance.
i think that is possible automaticly, but i dont know how.
I'm currently working on a profile and I just don't understand why my profiles barely show any stations. It doesn't even show the very first station. I remember checking on a box that mentioned showing the 1st station and still nothing. I've gone into the edit band style and turned on the labels at minor stations but it just turned on the FG/EG elevations.
I've added a picture showing what i'm talking about. It only shows stations 31+00 and 32+00. Not 30+00 or the 50' increments. Also, while I'm on the subject. How do I get something proposed into this existing profile to show FG Elevations. Example if I just wanted to strike a straight line from 30+00 to the end where the elevation is a 91' & 86'.

I'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.
It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

have a good style to label cross sections at profile grade, top of curb, bottom of curb, grade breaks, and back of walks? Do I set a point or something in my assembly to use to label those points?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a corridor. the corridor feature line that is supposed to hit the proposed centerline is following my existing grade instead of where the profile is. in other words, the corridor line i need at the centerline when i do "feature lines from corridor" is following my existing grade instead of the top of my road. did i accid. change something? i need it to follow the top centerline of my road. the red arrow is the line i need at the top centerline.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIm creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
i created section view as in pic1. In Bands, Existing surface elevation labels at existing surface grade breaks, top of road elevation labels at top grade breaks, datum is the same. Can i add existing surface elevation labels at top of road grade breaks? (pic2)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an existing ground surface with all different z co-ords and im trying to add three proposed buildings to my exisiting ground with all the builidngs having a level of 32.5 as a minimum, however at some points the ground is higher than 32.5 and I only want to raise my existing ground to 32.5 within the proposed buidling layout if it is below 32.5 as im doing a flood calculation. What do i need to for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rather large project for a roadway reconstruction. Therefore, the existing utilities are in a separate drawing and the existing ground surface model is in a separate drawing. All the above surface items (curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, signs, sidewalks, landscaping, etc..) are in the master drawing. I then xref'd in my utility drawing and though I would use data shortcuts for my existing ground surface drawing. I took the surveyed triangles (3d faces) from our raw survey drawing and copied them into my surface drawing, created a surface from the triangles, created a boundary and such. So far everything is good. I created the working folder for the data shortcuts for this project and saved the drawing and closed it. I went into my master drawing and clicked on "Create Reference". I did not promote. The reference came though and everything is fine. Now I want to add contour labels in my surface drawing which I did but they do not show up in my master drawing but the contours themselves do. Do I have to promote this drawing into my master drawing so I can create the contour labels in my master drawing? I guess that is fine but the issue is we have small areas of topo that will be added as needed down the road. If I promote the surface drawing into my master drawing then when I add topo to the surface drawing, it wont update in my master drawing.

creating a existing surface single Curb/Gutter spot elevation label using two existing surface elevation points and not cogo points. I am a surveyor, and I want to be able to just click on both points one at a time (top of curb/gutter) to place the elevation label.

for designing a road I created:
alignment ---> surface profile ---> layout profile (project line) ---> assembly ---> subassemblies ---> corridor ---> set target surface and frequencies
Corridor is created with daylights ,but I don't see existing ground in corridor section editor.
There is nothing about this in tutorial. Also I don't know how to calculate the volumes, in LDD after this stage we could calculate the volumes. i think in C3D I should do more for calculation.
How to prepare for rendering Existing ground with cutted corridor river? Specially in places where corridor river is below EG. If there is some tool like cut?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was laying out a vertical curve in the roadway profile. I have a vertical curve of 100' in length, however immediately after that it shows a grade break. I do not want this grade break in my profile, I simply want a vertical curve with two grades on the left and right sides. How can I get 2009 C3D to remove the grade breaks? It would be very uncomfortable for someone to have to drive over these in the real world.

I am trying to get the existing and proposed grade from my surfaces to show up in the center bottom of my cross sections. I am working with the CL elevations band style and trying to set up so that major and minor increments are the surface elevations. Am I going about this wrong? I went in to the compose label tab and selected for the text to be section 1 elevation and section 2 elevation. When I am at the section view properties box / bands tab, all that shows up is my existing surface. I have created sample lines and a corridor. I have also created a surface from the corridor.

I need to detail some stair but the surveyors only shot the top and bottom tread. I don't want to add points to the surface, I just want to draw the steps in and place them in the correct profile location. And I don't want two horizontal alignments.
