I need to extend the existing ground profile. I previously had stopped the profile at 25+00 as shown in the attached. However, I need to add on another 100' to 26+00. I can only view info in the Profile Properties. I can't change the end station.
How do I get it to extend?
I have cut a ground line in profile view. Is there a way to "mask out" a portion of the ground line in the profile? I need to detail some stair but the surveyors only shot the top and bottom tread. I don't want to add points to the surface, I just want to draw the steps in and place them in the correct profile location. And I don't want two horizontal alignments.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have added a pipe network to my profile view and for some reason the structures do not extend down to the inverts of the pipe. So the pipes are lower than the structures. I tried changing the sump, and the rim to sump (rim to sump can be editted but immediately goes back to what it originally was when you click apply. I've also tried clicking the structure and extending it downwards but it doesn't change. I've tried changing the stye and still have the same issue.

When I click my line label style and turn on the text it labels the existing ground and the design ground. I cannot find the setting in my two profile styles to turn the slopes off in the existing ground.
Oh, how can I get a tick on the V.C. dimension line?
I am trying to label existing ground & profile grade on my cross-sections the way old Land 4 used to do it. I've muddled through section view property style settings, band settings, group properties w/no luck. It can't possible be this difficult. What am I missing?

We here at work have recently implemented using the survey database feature in CAD as a better way of manipulating and organizing points in our drawings. However, we have begun to notice a few issues with how the survey database imports points (?).
Sometimes, and I say sometimes because it is very sporratic, some drawings exhibit the issue and some do not, the points will be skewed off the linework (we are converting existing projects to the survey database). In these situations I find that the Northing and Easting don't match the ascii file it was imported from, instead the "Grid Northing" and "Grid Easting" do. Also, some drawings will have a slightly different Grid Northing and Grid Easting vs Northing and Easting, whereas some drawings will have the exact coordinates for both sets of fields. I believe the issue is one and same.
Our points handling goes like this, Data Collector--->TBC (where ground to grid and scaling is performed)---->exported to ascii file------>Imported to CAD.
This is very confusing and irritating at the same time, and really counterproductive to be troubleshooting why our points keep moving. Redrawing the linework is NOT an option, we'll sooner go back to simple ascii file imports (where the problem is NOT present) then have to redo all of our work on our projects.
Previously in LDD when I had a project i needed to transfer from grid to ground I could simply create a block of everything. Scale the entire block from a mid point of the site, explode the block, run check points and done.
Now in C3D 2012 when I explode my block it changes my elevations too. Yikes!!!! Luckily I had a copule of points
elevations labled and I noticed the new "Feature" of scaling my elevations too.
My site is 4,500' across and grid to ground changes it 0.32'
Is there a setting to change this behavior?
How can the cross sections be setup to label the existing and proposed grade at the centerline of a cross section, see attached. Could do this in LD but have not been able to figure it out in Civil 3D

I have an existing ground surface with all different z co-ords and im trying to add three proposed buildings to my exisiting ground with all the builidngs having a level of 32.5 as a minimum, however at some points the ground is higher than 32.5 and I only want to raise my existing ground to 32.5 within the proposed buidling layout if it is below 32.5 as im doing a flood calculation. What do i need to for this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rather large project for a roadway reconstruction. Therefore, the existing utilities are in a separate drawing and the existing ground surface model is in a separate drawing. All the above surface items (curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, signs, sidewalks, landscaping, etc..) are in the master drawing. I then xref'd in my utility drawing and though I would use data shortcuts for my existing ground surface drawing. I took the surveyed triangles (3d faces) from our raw survey drawing and copied them into my surface drawing, created a surface from the triangles, created a boundary and such. So far everything is good. I created the working folder for the data shortcuts for this project and saved the drawing and closed it. I went into my master drawing and clicked on "Create Reference". I did not promote. The reference came though and everything is fine. Now I want to add contour labels in my surface drawing which I did but they do not show up in my master drawing but the contours themselves do. Do I have to promote this drawing into my master drawing so I can create the contour labels in my master drawing? I guess that is fine but the issue is we have small areas of topo that will be added as needed down the road. If I promote the surface drawing into my master drawing then when I add topo to the surface drawing, it wont update in my master drawing.

for designing a road I created:
alignment ---> surface profile ---> layout profile (project line) ---> assembly ---> subassemblies ---> corridor ---> set target surface and frequencies
Corridor is created with daylights ,but I don't see existing ground in corridor section editor.
There is nothing about this in tutorial. Also I don't know how to calculate the volumes, in LDD after this stage we could calculate the volumes. i think in C3D I should do more for calculation.
How to prepare for rendering Existing ground with cutted corridor river? Specially in places where corridor river is below EG. If there is some tool like cut?

Using Civil 3D 2013Coordinates coming out of survey equipment are modified state plane GROUND (scaled up from the origin by the combined factor).Drawing is setup with state plane coordinate system with user defined transformation to establish geodetic reference and the ability to label lat/long or import Bing map data.Survey database is setup with "No Datum, No Projection" (data is already at ground, I don't want ot transformed).Import style is PNEZD and is set to use Northing/Easting not Grid Northing/Grid Easting.After importing points into survey database, coordinates of survey points match the CSV. This is good.After importing points from database to drawing, they are taken as grid coordinates, are scaled again and are off ~5,300 feet northeast.Why would Civil 3D assume the points in the database are grid and scale them when the import style used did not specify grid? Is there a setting or something I can do to tell Civil 3D to leave my coordinates alone?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI migrated from AC3D 2010 32-byte to AC3D 2012 64-byte recently. When I migrate my projects to 2012 and open the old 2010 drawings in 2012 I lose the surface lines out of my section sets. It doesn't seem to bother the profile views, only the section views.
Is there a way to work around this problem w/o having to regenerate the section views?
I use Civil 3D 2011. I have created a surface from a point group. Now i want to extend the surface to an outer boundary. To do so, i do the following steps:
- Select the surface and Extract the border object.
- Create feature line from the extracted border polyline
- offset this feature line (featureoffset) to outside specifying a offset distance and specifying the elevation difference as 0.
- Add this offseted new featureline as the boundary in the definition of the surface
- Rebuild the surface
Now when i am selecting the surface, I see that the featureline is not a part of the surface and I do not find the contours and the TIN extending to this new boundary. Also I still find the old border in the surface.
I had thought this would work with no problem. I know the elevation I need to start an arc at and an elevation at a point along the arc. I drew that portion of the arc and then extended the arc to a line where I need the arc to end. I had expected the arc to extend along it's current grade the way a straight Feature line would. But the end dropped to 0.
I undid the extension, listed the FL arc to get the grade, extended it again and used the Elevation Editor to set the previous grade. But why didn't the extension work? I checked for other FL in the site that might cause this but there were none.
I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
I'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a group of profiles in a drawing and I want to change how one of the profiles is displayed through the profile view style manager, but I do not want to change how all of the profiles look. Is there a way to change the way a single profile looks without changing all of them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working C3D 2012. I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D. I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file. I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command. I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display. I then defined the VC. I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided. So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".
I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties. I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.
Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?

I try to make curb return profile without profile view like a intersect command.
I was make curb return alignment but I can not find profile command without profile view.
The intersection wizard makes dynamic EOP profiles based off of the cross slope from the centerline. Well the intersection tool doesn't always work with funky intersection layouts. Is it possible to manually create a dynamic EOP profile based on the cross slope from the centerline profile?

I have yet to produce a profile. I created a polyline and turned it into an alignment.
Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?
